As my son played in his skates trying to do his special trick he tripped and hurt his hand. He was crying hysterically, so we rushed him to the emergency room, and as soon as we saw the doctor he ordered some x-rays. He kept on crying and he only wanted to be with his mother. The radiology technician approached him really nicely, and made a comment about his Lego T-shirt he was wearing. She started talking to him and explained to him that she was going to be taking some different pictures of his hand, so the doctor can see and make his hand feel better. My son wanted to know everything she explained how the machines worked, so he was a little more calm knowing the process. As the radiologic technologist took some x-rays and told him he was …show more content…
Having taken a liberal arts education has helped them with their learning skills because they have taken different kinds of classes that they had to learn from. For example, in math class they always have new formulas and equations to learn how to solve problems. Most people wonder why we have to take math if they will never use these equations, but math is also teaching them new ways to solve their problems just like they would have to do in their job. Like any new material or equipment they need to get familiar with and this can benefit the radiographer in getting their work done faster. Being in this career they will always have a new machine with better technology coming in that they will need to learn how to use fast and get acquainted with to get their job done. As mentioned in the article of “People with potentially urgent conditions.” they explain how now they use digital plated instead of the cassette x-ray which would take five to fifteen minutes long. With the new technology, it only takes six seconds for the doctor to review the image. Indeed this new technology is only getting enhanced and the radiographer will need to be able to adapt to the new machine. This new machines will make it much easier for patients to get their results as well as the radiographer to get their job done quicker because, like Josh Edmonds said, “In acute situation, every second counts.” (People with). We went to ER and got to see a baby get drawn from his arm the parents were upset because it was the second time they had to draw his blood. The dad stepped out and the mom stayed and helped hold the baby down. There was a patient with shingles that I only got to see from outside but the phlebotomist showed
After wait for a few minutes they called my name and we walked me down the hall and to the X-Ray room. They made me take off my boot and stand on this weird X-Ray and I had to set my foot on this weird square. I was really scared because I didn't want it to be broke again or worse. They took me back into the waiting room when the doctor came in and had the X-Rays. He said the my foot

One would think that making the decision to attend college would be simple, but for myself this was not the case. I already had a career working for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. As a result, I was able to travel and live in numerous cities that I may not have been able to visit otherwise. Consequently, the past ten years of my life had been spent moving from one mission assignment to another, changing planes, living in hotels and missing countless Christmas and Thanksgiving celebrations. These factors made my decision to come back to college much easier. My new mission is to receive a degree in Radiology Technology.
Before realizing what was happening, a nurse was trying to put an IV in my arm. The needle compared to my little arm looked huge and too long to go in my arm. I refused to let them touch me and tried to run to my mom. When they had a hard time succeeding at putting my IV in, they decided to get help from my mom. She calmly told me to lay down and to watch her, while they put the needle in. It was hard to ignore the pain pulsing through my arm and all the commotion happening all around me. I looked at my mom and saw the tears that were falling down her face as they held me down. When they were done, there was an IV and a cast on my arm, so that I would not be able to pull the IV out. Then they wheeled me into another room where my mom held and comforted me, while we waited to hear the results.

I currently attend Baton Rouge General School of Radiologic Technology to pursue an Associates degree through Northwestern State University. I chose this profession because I always want to help others. I want to play a part in the healing process of patients. Being able to help people determine things going on inside their body interest me and that is why I chose Radiology. The true definition of a Radiologic Technologist is the “medical personnel who perform diagnostic imaging examinations and administer radiation therapy treatments. They are educated in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocols, radiation safety, radiation protection and basic patient care”. This definition makes this job seem easy but it is not an easy job at all. We do so much pushing, pulling, and lifting of patients it is physically exhausting. When I first chose this profession I did not think there would be this much to taking images of someone. It is more than just placing a patient somewhere and

To begin, serial killers are those who commit a series of murders usually without no motive during extended periods of times. In addition, serial killers are also known to commit their murders in a pattern. To society these people are usually referred to as “monsters”, and they believe that these kinds of individuals should be given the worse punishment. Not to mention, society has different opinions on whether serial killers should be given capital punishment or if they should be given a sentence to life in prison, without the possibility of parole. In my opinion, I believe that serial killers should not be given the death penalty. I believe that anyone who can commit murders obviously has mental problems. Serial
By adopting these, a more familiar atmosphere can be created where a radiographer knows what is expected of him and who is he working with. This will help in minimizing the risk factor and improving efficiency(NHS National reporting and learning service 2008).( National Patient Safety Agency, 2009).
Enclosed please find my application for Anatomy Instructor at Jacobs School of Medicine and Anatomical Science. I feel confident that I would be an ideal addition to the teaching faculty at the Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences, as you will observe that my experiences, researches and future plans are highly compatible with a number of your current faculty members. Moreover, I am presently enrolled in masters in Anatomical Science program, which further polished my teaching skills by incorporating a thesis project, graduate course-work, a teaching practicum, anatomical specimen preparation and dissection techniques. My colleagues and I are presented with a number of far-ranging opportunities from learning how to use an electron
The first couple weeks of school are always the most stressful. They get you thinking about how the semester is going to be and different ways to get you motivated. However, the beginning of this semester is probably one of the most stressful semesters that I have encountered because being a part of the radiography program is a very big achievement. It is a program where I know I will have to be ahead of the game the whole two years, which keeps me on my feet. Throughout this paper I am going to discuss the reasons why I wanted to enter into the program, and the things that I have learned so far along with my short-term and long-term goals.
Honestly , it was my first time going to the Accident and Emergency department i was scared and worried about what will happen to my wrist and how will my parents react .While my teacher was doing all the registration i sat there in state of shock . It was really a blessing having my best friend by my side comforting me and constantly telling me everything will be alright . I was then called to do some X-RAYS before consulting the doctor . My parents finally came and just right it was my turn to consult the doctor , my mother then went in together with me . The doctor was then examining my X-RAYS that i took before consulting him . My heart was beating very very fast as I am a right hander and i need my right hand to do many things . Finally the doctor spoke , he said that there was no obvious or major fractures shown in my X-RAYS but i have to put an temporary cast on my hand. He then referred me to a specialist at KK Children Bone Specialist to ensure there was no hairline fracture or any small minor fractures .
In kindergarten I decided that I was going to run to the playground to start a game that would be the highlight of the day. I ran up the stairs and onto the bridge but, suddenly my legs had decided to give out on me and I landed with my hands on the bridge with my thumb stuck in one of the small holes on the bridge. I didn’t think my finger was stuck so as a normal child would do I stood up really fast and accidently ripped my thumb out of the bridge. It immediately snapped and my thumb started to swell and turn a variety of deep blues, purples, and blacks. This turned into a horrible mother and daughter 4-hour trip to the ER waiting in pain, trying to seek out what had
