In the book “That’s Not How We Do It Here!” by John Kotter, the character that I feel act as a Manager is Nicholas. Who is the Head of the Guards, the disciplined and reliable Meerkat. Nicholas follows the fundamental rules of processing the core of management, which are planning, budgeting, organizing, staffing and problem solving. He makes plans for how many guards needed to create a daily guarding scheduling based on what they learned over the years as their clan has grown. He recruits and train guards. He also defines procedures for the guards to follow based on what they learned over the years. Set goals to reach and manage problem solving as well. His responsibility is to analyze the problem and have a quick solution. I find Lena as a Leader in this book, because she established direction and aligning her clan. She motivates, inspires, and mobilizing …show more content…
She knows how to overcome problems when they arise. The Kat leading the group is Lena, the founder of the clan. One specific example is in the chapter A Very Different Way. She opened the meeting and discussed the problem they might encounter is about the rain coming later than ever. They don’t know why this is happening and this is a big problem for them. Everybody was concerned about this problem. Lena was able to motivate the group to find a clever solution to make them an even stronger and better clan. Find opportunities to overcome the problem. She took the group to participate on how to better handle with this opportunity. This is a good example of leadership shown by Lena. I choose Nadia (law of picture), Nicholas (law of influence), and Mara (law of solid ground) characters from the
Managers perform many functions and play many roles. They are responsible for handling many situations and these situations are usually different from one another.
Nina had freedom. She lived in New York alone, worked as a tour guide in China. She lived away from her family and with their complicated pasts. She’s a sister of three and is the youngest and most independent. Leila the oldest sister and Ona the middle child. All three sisters had their own kind of way of dealing with the family. Ona one of the quieter child committed suicide and that might’ve been her way of escape.
Last example, she knows to consider the consequence. For illustration, when Lina’s family is eating in the shack, she told the owner, Ulyushka, to eat with them. If Ulyushka take the food, she probably will not tell the NKVD, so they will not get into trouble and that is the brilliant part of her. Secondly, Elena can be characterized as hopeless in multiple ways. First instance, when Jonas is sick, she does not know how to cure him. The narrator said, “Mother rushed out into the snow to beg, leaving me with Jonas” (Sepetys 193). However, Elena has to beg for help, so Jonas can be cured and this action exposes the hopelessness of her. Another instance, she is hopeless because her family does not know when will they see each other and go back to home together. Her family is taken from their house in the late night, and they do not know what they did wrong and what caused this to happen. Furthermore, watching others being killed and wondering when is the ending of this event is like a torment to all of the
Everything she had hope for, gone. Everything the shaped her life, destroyed. Jason had told the Population Police that Nina had turned in third children-who weren't actually third children! She could of been executed right then because of him. “He had told the Population Police that she'd done something evil, and they were going to kill her for it.”(27) This shows that Jason had betrayed her. Thisis important because Nina's life could of ended right there. She survived though, but it leaves her with a feeling of mistrust, a feeling that hurts others. On page 30, this feeling of mistrust gets the better of her, and she agrees for a deal to betray others. “But sometimes even the Population Police can benefit from ignoring certain aspects of the law.” the police tells her. She is interested in this deal, for the she couldn't live with her suffering, and someone else not. One person who suffers, leads another to suffer, and so many people get hurt in the
Josie’s family from Looking For Alibrandi are remarkably close to her and shape who she feels she is and how others perceive her. Josie takes others
As she hate her position in the society as a subordinate, she began her movement to emerge on 1950. Mihesuah shows the way AIM worked during that time. AIM could solve the problem, which the society thought that it was impossible. Mihesuah points out that Anna Mae who lived in the tribal environment, knew better than the leader of AIM. Mihesuah concludes that Anna Mae’s spirit was live in every native woman who struggled to gain justice in the society.
In reality, the outcomes were not on her, but reflected on the ruthless demeanor of the Serbs. Those forests, the fall of her youth are what creates her internal conflict.

What is management? According to Kinicki Williams textbook “Management, management is defined as the pursuit of organizational goals efficiently and effectively by integrating the work of people through planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the organization resources (Ch. 1, pg. 5 Management: A practical introduction). I believe in order to be an effective manager you must be a positive, goal orient, organized individual. I also believe an effective manager is an individual that motivates their staff and leads by example. I believe all managers should follow the management process.
Managers: They are responsible for the daily life of an individual and try to remain in control to keep the self from feeling anything from the exiles.
The world of business has undergone radical and dramatic changes in the last decade changes that present extraordinary challenges for the contemporary manager. A manager is an organizational member who is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the activities of the organization so that the goals can be achieved. According to a widely referenced study by Henry Mintzberg, managers serve three primary roles: interpersonal, informational, and decision-making. Management is process of administrating and coordinating resources effectively and efficiently in an effort to achieve the goals of the organization.
Managers are expected to do a multitude of things. A manager has to be a visionary and adaptive to meet the current demands of what is required of them at all level
Many people believe they can either be a good or great manager. The actual reality to this is some people are actually not fit to be a manager either because they do not know what to do or because they do not know how to handle themselves. Throughout this paper, management styles will be discussed, and the qualities of a good manager.
Schermerhorn (2015) found based on Fayol’s findings that managers of different levels are given the task of carrying out management functions such as planning, organising, leading and controlling.Cunningham (1979) believed that this was the perception a manager had regarding his job and that the effectiveness of a manager inculcating this in his work is the
