Visually describe the piece you are analyzing (Who or what is in it? What is happening?). - There are several people in the ad, the main focus is singer/song writer, Taylor Swift. There are several photos of her with her guitar and with the other girls in the advertisement. The other girls in the ad with her are either models or could be everyday girls like me. They are shown in a photo with Taylor and then have individual photos in what seems to be their everyday lives. There are also pictures of bright and colorful shoes. What is its purpose? - I was able to distinguish three purposes for this advertisement. The main purpose is to advertise the footwear in the photos, the second is to promote Taylor Swift and the third is to encourage …show more content…
We are usually encouraged to follow what others in society are doing. For example, getting post-secondary education directly after high school. This message acknowledges that we all have hopes and dreams and we should try and achieve them. Another way it does not support main stream culture is because usually there is a lot of “sex” that sells in the media. The producers have used a different approach when thinking about what will interest the targeted audience. Male dominance is definitely a mainstream issue in our culture, showing that women are empowered and are also unique, courageous and brave is refreshing in my …show more content…
In my personal life right now I am struggling in finding who I am as an individual and what I want to be doing with my life. Taking chances and expressing who I want to be will help me strengthen my personal roots and will shape me as an individual. This message promotes the creation of an individual and I believe that is extremely important especially when we are always being told who to be and what to do. I am definitely a Taylor Swift fan, and I think that the producers did a great job trying to sell their product. My initial reaction to reading the advertisement was “I feel like I can go concur the world right now”. It definitely made me feel empowered, unstoppable and I wanted to promote this to others. So if I felt this way after viewing the ad, I am almost positive that other girls will feel the same or be touched by the encouraging
Although this advertisement is effective, it is a bit extreme. For me, looking at the shocking physical change of Jacqueline after the accident was depressing, but I was able
In Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose, and Sherman L. Sergel, Juror Number Ten believes the Kid is guilty because he has lived in a slum all his life and he has strong negative feelings about kids who grow up in the slum. “knowing what he is. I’ve lived among ‘em my whole life. You can’t believe a word they say” (Reginald Rose, and Shermal L. Sergel 16). Juror Number Ten is excessivley racist and he only cares for his own ethnic group.
These companies make grandeous impressions of how their product will set the owner apart from the less-than-fortunate common goer that may not have deep enough pockets to fit in with the rest of the "Hey, look at me" mindset American businesses are instilling in our youth.
The Call of the Wild is a book that was made by an author called Jack London. The Call of the Wild is a Nonfiction book, meaning it did not happen in real life, that is about a dog named Buck going through treacherous landscapes just to get a bunch of different people to Alaska, so they can go gold panning. The main reason why people call this story a classic is because it is a story that people remember for a long time. These kinds of books are most of the time passed down from generation to generation which is what usually gives books the name classic. This book also inspires other people to write books that are very similar to it; an example of this is Lassie Come-Home.
It is clear throughout the ad that the ultimate goal of this production is to help those who are being affected by the domestic violence issue around the world. We see this through the powerful statements being used in the text next to the photo. The statements like “the only illusion are if you think it was her choice” and “stop abuse against women”, this helps to convey the feelings needed in order to realize that show their desire to
Within the advertisement they broadcast systemically reenforced and exaggerated a large number of stereotypes about both men and women. Some may wonder, however, how this really effects everyday life. If someone sees so many ads in a day what is one more, one that is just a bit more sexist than the typical beer ad. While this it is true that the average person is overstimulated by the number of ads as it is there is still something to be said for the content of the ads. Even if a person doesn’t mentally acknowledge them the brain still notes them and stores them in the brain. If time after time one sees women in the submissive role or treated as objects, chances are they will start subconsciously believing it. On the other hand if men are constantly portrayed as stupid and hormone driven then that bias will start to seep into reality. There are also significant moral issues with this ad, if time after time women are portrayed simply as a visual feast it changes how they will be treated for the rest of their lives. Next time they walk down the street theres a chance a man may catcall her, acknowledging the fact that she was in some way appealing to him. He doesn’t do this because she is smart, funny or kind he does this simply because he was pleased by her appearance and may even think he is complementing her. However, by doing this he reenforces what the media has
Teens, or girls in general read this magazine, and by placing an ad such as this in the magazine would generally boost sales. Another aspect of this ad that would commonly appeal to the teen age group would have been the choice of colors, and the background of the advertisement.
When you first glance at this ad, you might say to yourself “I know what women in the media are all about, its sexism and stereotypes.” What you probably don’t know is that how; these visual cues are affecting women individually and collectively, in how they view themselves in the mirror. One of the largest influences on women and adolescent girls is the media. The media pushes body image, clothes, and fast food. At the same time they push weight lose with unrealistic results. This combination that I am referring to above leads to adolescent girls, and women having eating disorders and a discomforting self-image. Young women aged 15 to 30 are a prime industry target since 80 per cent of all consumer products are purchased by women in this
This example shows that Pepsi chose them for their advertisement because they’re famous singers, they’re funny, and they have fans. The audience
Women have pursued careers and made changing roles in their families where they are sometimes playing the father and mother role for their kids. Women since then can be motivators and people that can inspire many that they can be anything and do anything they desire. Having woman be the center of attention towards other women, men, and just any one it inspires others to see that they can make a different regardless of their gender. Women regardless of what they are advertising can make a difference and catch the attention of any audience and the person creating these advertisements doesn’t just put woman because of the stereotypes to show skin, but to

In the ad I chose it has Ariel from The Little Mermaid all grown with many adult like qualities. It shows her with cosmetic surgery that has changed her face, breast and even gave her legs. In the bottom of the ad is writes, “WE MAKE FAIRY TALES COME TRUE”. This ad was captivating because who wouldn’t want their fairy tale to come true, especially if it will give us a happy ending. We all want to feel good about ourselves even if they are small changes.
As a form, they exist simply to advertise a product, which in this case is a vocalist, ensemble or producer (Railton & Watson suggest that their 'raison d'etre are as a promotional device' (2011: 1)). The music video by Robin Thicke- Blurred Lines, is what Jow Gow (1994) would describe as
For my fieldnotes portfolio I wanted to analyze the differences in a group conversation in a public setting versus a private setting. To analyze this issue I decided to use a close group of friends but in two seperate locations as one took place in my dorm room and the other was in Buffalo Wild Wings. By making the conversations take place in different settings, I was hoping to see a change in how we acted and the way we spoke. Although I was unable to find much of a difference, my fieldnotes were still supported by 3 readings which are Conversational Signals and Devices by Deborah Tannen, A Cultural Approach to Male-Female Miscommunication by Daniel N. Maltz and Ruth A. Borker and Symbols of Category Membership by Penelope Eckert. Despite
The two items I chose from the Speed museum were the two vases by Fulvio Bianconi and Vicktor Emanuel as the modern pieces and the ancient Egyptian canopic jars. Upon first sight, my first thought was that the purpose of these items is obliviously to hold and serve as containers for other objects. Though they are different in size, it’s clear they serve that same idea. Both items are also shaped in sort of a rounded and spherical way; the edges are smoothed out and they all have a nice organic flow to them. There is nothing geometric or jagged about any of the pieces. While reading deeper into the description of the Egyptian jars, I found out that they were used to store the deceased’s organs during the process of mummification. These jars
