Terrorizing Bomb Threats

Food deserts are one of the biggest problems in society, as the authors of Food Justice bring up (Gottlieb & Joshi, 2013). In fact, Indianapolis is ranked worst in the nation for food deserts. So what is a food desert?

In the foreword, Bridges states he and the political will are part of the problem of hidden hunger in America. He does not give us much information on what he was not doing before he decided to help. Bridges also states that we could help end this problem just as much as anyone else can, but he never furthers the thought after this. Bridges could inform us on what he meant when he was the problem and how we individual's reading this could help end this problem. We do not see ads on television telling us the people in our own country are starving. The politicians have so much power and if they are standing for what they believe in then most would think there would be no hunger in America. The politicians should be making sure that everyone

In this article “How Safer Streets Can Thwart Terrorists” written by Yonah Freemark, educates us about multiple terrorist attacks that have occurred specifically in the New York area and how the state is working to develop a safer approach. In May of 2017 at Times Square a motorist drove through a large crowd killing one person and injuring many others. Had it not been for a three foot guarding rail, the motorist could have killed many more. Another attack like this happened previously where an average of sixteen pedestrians were killed and since then have doubled. New York is not only the victim of these kind of attacks; famous places like France, Netherlands, and London constantly have attacks like these happen.

Being prepared and having a plan in place, with detailed plans and procedures are useful before, during and after a disaster. Waiting until the last minute can be disastrous (Hayhurst, 2013). There is always the potential that a disaster may occur at any time and at any place. Therefore, being prepared is important to a planned and coordinated response to disastrous events. Healthcare facilities such as hospitals and clinics have specific plans in place to address possible disasters. One disaster plan addressed at the Veteran Health Administration (VHA) in the New Orleans, Louisiana location is bomb threats.

On September 27 2016, two bomb attacks were held in Dresden Germany, at a Muslim mosque, and a German congress center. The bombs were set off 1st at the mosque and then a few minutes afterward hit the congress center.

In New York, there has been a 113 percent increase in hate crimes in 2017, with a spike of anti-Semitic hate crimes increasing from 19 to 55 incidents over the same period last year. The mayor said that there hasn’t been such a concentrated number of threats to the Jewish community in years and the “NYPD is in a state of high vigilance right now.”

Most of the reason why Muslims face discrimination in New York is due to the past history of the city and country. Muslims have almost always faced discrimination in NYC, but after the terrorist attack of 9/11, Muslims have never faced more discrimination. When Islamophobic attacks cooled down, they were reignited by ISIS and other extremist attacks that have occurred in the last two years.

When it comes to emergency management, terrorism threats and attacks are hard to deal with. It’s a huge task and management personnel should handle with care to avoid putting the lives of the American people in danger. Most people believe that these attacks come from outside the U.S. and inspired by foreigners, but this is not always true. The acts of terrorism can happen anywhere by anyone. Next, I’m going to discuss attacks that have taken place in surrounding areas around Tennessee and prove that such threats can be made by anyone and not just by foreigners.

During this week, I learned about the face of terrorism, as well as terrorist organizational models, and the psychology of terrorism. As a result, I am able to identify what terrorism is by identifying the political, psychological, violent, and deliberate objectives of a group. In addition, I now understand the structure of a terrorist organization and the four levels that make up a terrorist group, as well as the human behaviors that lead a person to become a terrorist.

People often associate the word bomb with the idea of a weapon of mass destruction, but in reality fear can be a weapon in of itself. Such is the case of the dirty bomb, it is a weapon aimed at instilling fear in the local population thus making it a weapon of mass disruption. The similarities between a dirty bomb and an improvised explosive device (IED) are remarkable. In our modern wars of Iraq, Afghanistan and several other theaters of operations the IED has been the weapon of choice for insurgents. They are cheap to make and can be constructed from left over explosives and shrapnel producing elements, these same qualities are shared by the dirty bombs. Have you ever had a fear for your family, your town, your country, or your world. How about the fear to have everything taken from you, destroyed, and not caring if it has hurt you or not? What about your fear and pain is, and can be someone else’s happiness? The fear of you being terrorized? That is terrorism. Someone else bringing fear and terrorizing you. That is a terrorist’s goal. Terrorism is common and is very difficult to stop. The government promises protection for the people, and their home, but they can not give that protection if they can not stop terrorism. Terrorism needs to stop to protect the live of the people, and their country.

Being attacked by someone does not sit well with most people. This is definitely true for the Romans and the Han Chinese. They were both subject to barbarian and nomadic invasions. The treatment of these certain barbarians was not pleasant. Most were either killed, made into slaves, or joined the army of the civilization that had just conquered them. The ones who chose to attack them did not do so on an empty stomach. Therefore, the Romans and the Han Chinese did not treat the barbarians generously.
