Tecumseh Tecumseh was a Native American and leader of the large Indian tribe called the Shawnee. When he was a young kid the people in his tribe could tell he would have a promising future. Tecumseh was very athletic, wasn’t a trouble maker, and had a great character about him. His father was killed by white men and left Tecumseh mom as a wisdom with Tecumseh and his younger brother. Having his father die at a young age, that focused Tecumseh to immature faster and become the man of the family. His younger brother Lalawethika (noisemaker) lived in his older brother’s shadows, so he got into a lot of trouble. This brought Indian tribe from though out the Midwest to the Ohio. Tecumseh traveled thought the Midwest talking to the other tribe, saying they have to join together to fight the “white men” because this is their holy land. Tecumseh joined forces with the British at least he thought we did, until one battle they wouldn’t let them in the gates and when the British knew they were t going to win the war they bailed on the Shawnee’s tribe. Tecumseh was a great leader and everyone that came into contact with him respected him even the British, other Indian chiefs, and Americans. When we talked about Tecumseh in class we didn’t go in depth about his little brother Lalawethika. All that was said about him was that he was a trouble maker when he was younger. I really liked how the movie went in depth about Lalawethika and how he grew up to be known as the prophet of the Shawnee tribe. Then we learned about how great of a leader Tecumseh but we didn’t go over how he met with William Henry Harrison. How when Tecumseh and William Henry Harrison, Tecumseh gave off this vibe where it made William Henry Harrison respect him, even if he couldn’t understand
Cherokee Indians have been around for many years, but when the topic of Native Americans is discussed it is only about the struggles and hardships they went through but never their actual culture of how and where they originated or how they came to be. There are many interesting things to learn about Cherokee Indians such as their heritage, religion, language, and their traditional songs, dances, and food.

As Tecumseh was trying to unite the Native Americans, the Americans' desires were already clear: they wanted to expand westward. The Americans took advantage of the fact that Tecumseh was still working to unify the Native American people, which largely impacted the American power when expanding westward. Lastly, an undivided Native American presence would have been enough force to secure Britain the victory of the War of 1812.
Tecumseh and Tenskwatawa leaders of the American Indian involvement together helped create a powerful organization among native Indians. Tecumseh, a powerful political and military leader is the most recognized of the two, but it was the combining of their knowledge that made them particularly powerful. Tenskwatawa provided a helpful vision to launch a much broader Indian movement, he used traditional native beliefs while combining religion to call for an Indian resistance against the Americans. He was able to unify the American Indians by turning his life around, which in turn he used his religion to gather many Indians, his faith helped him restore peace within the Indian community. Tecumseh unified the native Indians by using political and military strategies to convince the native people of what he was trying to accomplish with his movement. His energy helped natives by giving them someone with a voice. Tecumseh never compromised, which made him the powerful leader that he was.

The Shawnee chief Tecumseh a well-known Indian, became famous for his attempt to merge the Native American tribes against the Americans. In 1809 he began his voyage in order to profess his requests. A few years later Tecumseh arrived in the Osage Nation around the region of Oklahoma and tried to influence the Osage Nation with his political agenda. The Comanche Tribe is made up of brilliant horsemen who took control of the Southern Plains. They are most known for playing a large role in Texas frontier during most of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Although the Comanche’s lived near the upper reaches of the Platte River in eastern Wyoming, they later established themselves from western Oklahoma to the Texas Panhandle into New Mexico. Today, currently 5,000 Comanche’s live near Lawton, Oklahoma; their tribal headquarters.
The Wichita is a tribe that belongs to a small tribe about three hundred and twenty who live in Oklahoma. They are a tribe of Native Americans who were discovered by the Coronado expedition. Like other Native American tribes the Wichita people have their own language, culture and both, social and legal customs. They refer to themselves as Kitikitish which can be taken literally to mean raccoon eyelids. But signifies a tattooed eyelid which is from a former custom among men where they tattooed lines upon their eyelids. Women however tattoo lines upon the chin and among older women there are those with tattooed designs all over their breasts. The Wichita people were primarily sedentary interested in hunting and farming. The men hunted and went for wars for the protection of their families while women farmed and raised children.
