For my project, I have sampled the population of RedCard users at Target. I chose to do this because I work at Target, so the data is easily accessible, and I thought it would be interesting to test something that I see every day. To collect my data, I made a tally mark for every transaction that was completed with a RedCard; there was only one instance where a single person made two transactions with the same card. Because of the way I counted transactions, she appears as two data points on my report. For every transaction that was completed with a RedCard, I wrote down the individual’s ethnicity, gender, and whether or not they had kids with them. Keep in mind that ethnicity was recorded to the best of my ability and may not be entirely …show more content…
The largest amount of data in this sample belongs to Caucasian individuals, containing 4.3% men and 95.7% women. Of the men, 50% had children and 50% did not; of the women, 29% had children and 71% did not. If we examine the overall proportion of gender, it is obvious that the majority is female – exactly 94%. As for children or absence thereof, 70% of RedCard users did not have children with them. Between the three categories that were notated, Caucasian women without children were the most prevalent; making up 67% of the sample; you can also see, in the above graphs, the percentages of each category. For the measure of central tendency in this sample, I have chosen to use the mode. This gives the same result presented in the summary above, both for each category and for all overlapping categories. The mode for ethnicity is Caucasian; for gender is female; and for children is a lack thereof. To calculate variation, I also used the Index of Qualitative Variation (IQV), which measures the percentage of difference between categories relative to the maximum possible differences. For example, when I used the IQV on my “Ethnicity” data points, I ended with a value of 20%. This means that 20% of the maximum possible differences for that category have been employed. The higher the value, the more diversity
CONSTRUCTED RESPONSE 1. If you were an only child during the one child policy, do you think you could handle all the attention from your family? Could you deal with having none to talk to? Well lets see if the one child policy is really a good idea.
Females make up the majority of the population at 26,567 compared to 24,805 for males. Based upon
Demographic information was collected as part of the survey. Fifty-five percent (n = 169) of the 309 respondents in the analyzed sample were female and 45% (n = 140) were male. Approximately 69% of respondents (n = 212) reported that they were born in the United States, while 27% (n = 85) indicated that they were born in Mexico; the remaining 4% (n = 12) indicated that they were born in some other country or did not indicate a country of birth. Eighty-six percent of respondents (n = 265) endorsed that they were

A significantly larger percentage of non-Hispanic White women had a college education as compared with women of color. More than half of women of color and non-Hispanic White women's incomes were less than $25,000.
Thank you for your considering my application to the Applied Behavior analysis program. For all of my life I have known that I was going to help people. It could be said that it is in my DNA. I just never suspected what the capacity would be. On December 15thI graduated from Albright college, I began working at Melmark on December 16th. My first thought, on that first day was “Oh no, I can’t do this, I need to quit” That was over two years ago, and I have gone to work every day, with a smile on my face. While working at my first position, out of college, I discovered my passion. My passion, I find, is working with children and adults with autism and with people who suffer from addiction. Watching the smiles on their faces, the determination when they work to complete a goal, and just the progress makes every hardship worth it, I love it. Each day, in my position as an ABA, I run behavior support plans, IEPs, teaching plans and other protocols, and each day I truly wish that I could have contributed to these plans, protocols, and IEPs. I ponder the recommendations that I could come up with, I wonder that if I had been able to participate in these conversations to create these plans could I have brought something else to the table, a different viewpoint. Affecting the way that the plans are written and in turn ran, I feel that I could make a big difference in the lives of the children and their families also. Every two weeks each child’s team meets to discuss his or her
The tests for normality, examining standardized skewness and the Shapiro-Wilks test indicated the data were statistically normal for origination rates. However, the Levene's F test revealed a violation of the homogeneity of variance assumption by race was not met for female originations (p = .025). As such, the Welch's F test and the posthoc James-Howell procedures were used. The results presented in Table 4 capture the one-way ANOVA for the race effect on origination rate. For females, the one-way ANOVA revealed a statistically significant main race effect on origination rates, Welch’s F(4, 9.87) = 30.07, p < .001, ω2 = .83. Omega squared has shown approximately 83% of the total variation in females’ origination
Specific behavior goal: I will increase my physical activity and stamina by completing a 60-minute work out 5 times a week by the end of the next 8 weeks.
I am completing this behavior change project on myself. I had to think long and hard about what habit I would like to change. I must say, at first, I actually did not have a personal problem with this behavior I chose to modify. After carefully examining my bank and credit card statements in November, I had noticed that I was spending hundreds of dollars per month on takeout.
My primary goal for the Follow-Up Period of the Behavior Reduction Exercise was to maintain my elimination of added (unnatural) sugars from my diet. I decided to continue the length of the reduction exercise through Lent in the hopes that this exercise can facilitate acquiring a lifestyle change. In other words, by continuing the length of this exercise, this behavior or restraint will establish healthier eating habits, because added sugars had become such an unhealthy part of my diet, and this healthy habit will hopefully assist me in establishing a permanent lifestyle change. I also continued to try to adjust my alternative coping behaviors by adopting the practice of meditation when I am stress (instead of nail biting or eating chocolate).
Behavioral analyst main goal is to better the lives of the individuals they serve. Improving the life for these individuals could mean teaching independence, modifying severe behavior, or giving clients environmental accommodations. Improving behavior consists of defining the baseline for a behavior and analyzing if a behavior meets the needs for change (Cooper, Heron, & Heward, 2014). Measurement is needed in order to keep record of behavior and to analyze any behavior improvements. Among Procedures for defining the correct type of measurement for a behavior, defining the social validity and importance of behavior is also relevant for determining if an intervention was applicable to the client.
4. Why it is important to you to study this discipline in a school that emphasizes cultural awareness, competence, and understanding of diversity (see our Commitment to Diversity Statement).
Are you the type of person who wants to be able to go to work everyday doing something you love, helping others who need it, and getting a smile on your face just by the smallest of things that someone does? That is the type of person I am, which is why I chose the career path of a Behavior Specialist. A Behavior Specialist is someone who works with a person who may have a disability, and they study and work with them to make things as easy as possible for their daily life. They focus on the perception of life, however sometimes hesitate to present the strong conclusions how behaviors cause certain emotion (Thompson). A Behavior Specialist is also known as a Social Psychologist, because they study how a person’s mental life and behavior are shaped by interactions with other people (“Pardon Our Interruption”). The four main behaviors that Behavior Specialists look for when studying the actions of a person are, “Self-awareness, emotion, motivation, and feelings” (“Modeling the Early Human Mind”). Although I believe being a Behavior Specialist is a dream job, there are always issues that go along with any job, in this case emotions play a role in the occupation working with people who need extra help.
Although the results may have been more robust if the participants were selected from a wider population, instead of only minorities from the District of Columbia. This would make the sample size more representative of the population of interest.
