Today is the second class of Qi Gong. In this class, we talked more about Qi Gong’s history, Chinese philosophical thinkings, some scientific proofs as well as the inner mechanisms of Qi Gong. Qi Gong is rooted in ancient Chinese culture, being a combination of traditional Chinese medicine, ancient Chinese philosophy, traditional Chinese culture and also ancient Chinese religions. Therefore. we need comprehensive knowledge to understand all of the fundamentals of Qi Gong.
The first is qigong which is a health practice that utilizes body movement, breathing techniques and mental focus to assist in healing, relaxation and reconnecting (Winn, 2009). Next is that art of meditation. Meditation is an important element in the Tao religion. Many Taoists practice meditation to achieve mental serenity and heighten mental awareness. There are also various forms of exercise, such as yoga and Tai Chi, and therapies, acupuncture and moxibustion, which Taoists use to restore balance within the body and achieve healing.
Qigong, pronounced “chee-gung”, is the skill of body-mind exercise which integrates body, breath, and mind into one. It is translated from Chinese to mean “energy cultivation” or “working with life the energy” (Dupler). Fire and water methods are associated with qigong, but this is not like the classical Five Element. The fire method involves an element force of tensing muscles, holding breathe, visualization used in early stages, while the water method is based on relaxation and release, smooth continuous breathing, developing qi flow, and internal structures. Three regulations that come from qigong is learning body regulation, breathing, and mind. The basic methods and regulations can be seen in traditional Chinese medicine. Although Qigong is a fundamental element of Traditional Chinese medicine, it has idiosyncratic characteristics of its own. Chinese scholars acknowledge Kongzi (Confucius) and Mengzi (Mencius) are considered the founders of the qigong scholar tradition, because within their writings they alluded to the concepts of qi training methodology as being methods of moral training (Ni).

This is an essay on the short story “Soldier’s Home” by Hemingway. Will the life of a soldier ever be the same after returning from war? Many generations of young adults have gone from their homes with tranquil settings to experience war and come home to a different world. Many have witnessed the devastations and atrocities that occur with war. Harold Krebs, a young man from a small town with a loving family is no different from those before him and those to follow. The anguish of what war is however cannot dispel the thoughts and memories of what many young men come home to face in the real world. Many have trouble coping in the new world known as home.
When he was young, a relative of Alexanders mother Olympias, Leonidas of Epirus, taught Alexander to become a good fighting horseman and to endure hardships like forced marches. His father, Philip, wanted to develop a superior future king, so he employed Lysimachus of Acarnania to show Alexander reading, writing, and taught him how to play the lyre which is a musical instrument. At 14 years old Alexander was introduced to the Greek philosopher Aristotle, who Philip employed as a private teacher. He would learn with Aristotle for the following three years, and the two stayed in contact all through Alexander's later battles. The effect of Leonidas, his earliest teacher, may be found in Alexander's deeply engrained strength, physical stamina and also in his ability with horses. Remarkably, Alexander managed to tame "untameable" horses when he was just 11 or 12 years of age.
Aristotle is a famous Greek Philosopher best known for his thoughts on human pursuit of happiness and pleasure. For one to what would bring him pleasure. Big business has a constructive influence on America. Large corporations contribute much more to a country’s economic well being than smaller ones. Bigger corporations are more productive, pay higher salaries and hourly, generate more jobs, and are more successful in international markets. However, not everyone believes that big business has a positive impact for the US. Some hold to the opinion that big business will never be as effective as small businesses. However, as J. D. Harrison, who covers startups, small business and entrepreneurship for the Washington Post, states that even though people believe that small business is the backbone of our nation, yet “companies with more than 500 workers employed about 45 percent of the workforce yet contributed 65 percent of the jobs created since 1990” (The Washington Post, 2013). This is not to discredit the influence of small business in the US. In fact, they are an essential part of our society. Small business have created and maintained thousands of jobs in the last half century. But we will focus on big business in this discussion. What is the history of big business in the US, and what were the fruitful results, as well harmful ones? What about the political side of big business, and finally, are there ethical associations when it comes to large corporations?
