I don’t believe that violence is necessary in television for any other reason that to add a shock value and increase viewer ratings. When violence was first introduced to television it was to illustrate real life as well as add a shock value and was done in small doses. Violence can be compelling to people because they find it interesting. Violence influences younger children, violence can sometimes teach someone a lesson or even help someone get away with a crime. When you watch or act out a crime it gives you a sense of adrenaline. People tend to get that rush and some even like the feeling of it so they continue to watch or do it.

Murderers usually have something mentally wrong or have a motive; what if a movie was inspiration for a murderer? Many Hollywood films glorify mindless violence to their advantage and captivate audiences through its entertaining shock value and rake large box office profits. The significance of suspense in horror films is to bring out the “twist or unexpected moment of realization that makes someone scream and one's heart race. In the film industry, there are various types of genre, but as different as films may seem, they all have one element that links them all together. That element is known as Mise-en-scene. Mise-en-scene is a French phrase that means “putting into the scene.” Mise-en-scene includes elements such as setting, lighting, costume, and figure movement and expression (acting).

Violence is referred to physical behaviors used to hurt, kill, or ruin, someone or something. Great stories usually utilize scenes of violence as a way to intensify the plot of the story and gradually make a smooth transition between scenes, until the ending. Stories like Romeo and Juliet, the great Montague's and Capulet’s held many confrontational scenes which led to violence. Giving readers a clear visualization of the relationship between the two and the intensity in each event, until the story reached its ending. Although, violence may work as an essential element in great fictions, violence in real life can be quite consequential.

To know about the controversy of violence in movies, one must know the two sides of the issue. The first side is that violence makes movies better and the other side is violence needs to be cut down or have a limit in movies today. They write some really creepy and interesting myths and that is how they use suspense.
