The reason as to why I am applying for this summer program is because of the opportunity that it provides. Programs such as these gives the unique opportunity to explore multiple different career paths. But, not only does it provide a learning opportunity, it also allows a cultural one. Being able to travel and live in a foreign country at such a young age is one of the most memorable and amazing things that you can do. I believe that if accepted into this program, that I will do my very best to prove myself dedicated as a student because I want to spend my life learning and preparing myself for the real world as a careered woman. I have not yet solidified what I would like to be in the future, but as of this moment, I hope to possibly become …show more content…
I have always loved looking and participating in art classes, although I am not the best artist, and I enjoy learning about the history behind different art techniques. But I think that international relations would be something that is absolutely amazing to learn about because through this I could learn about the connections and effects that occur between so many different nations, and learn about how they interact with one another. I feel like I could provide an interesting perspective to this program, for the main reason of having been apart of programs similar to this one during previous summers. I work well with others, and I always try to keep an open mind as to avoid biases and to be more empathetic and understanding towards others. I am very adaptive to my surroundings even if that means changing topics within a classroom discussion. Something else about me is that I am what is known as an ambivert. This means that I sit in the scale between being and introvert and an extrovert. Although iI do tend to sway more towards the introverted side, but only for the reason that I can get lost in my own thoughts or go for hours without taking a break from a book that I am
This program evaluation article by Duffy, Barry, Curry, Darragh, and Lees, reviews an initiative to improve the working relationship between Northern Ireland’s adult mental health services, and child protection services by reviewing a program called “The Champions Initiative” (Duffy, Barry, Darragh, & Lees, 2010). This was developed to facilitate a joint working environment to improve services and protection for children whose parent(s) may have mental health issues (Duffy et al., 2010). The Champions Initiative appointed a “champion” from each team of child protection workers, and mental health services, and their responsibility was to provide information, promote a joint working environment, and identify obstacles which would hinder good cooperation between the two teams (Duffy et al., 2010). The program evaluation assessed the levels of experience, training, confidence and awareness of the Champions, followed up with them in six months to assess the impact and the effectiveness of the program, and offered recommendations to
I am interested in continuing my educational journey in the University Honors Program at CSULB because I see it as a way to effectively enhance my undergraduate experience with its opportunities. I have been able to improve and continue to excel and improve in my studies and I think I can pursue a great education in this program. I will achieve my vision of helping others in the world. I have been adamant in enrolling in a nursing program that I will excell in.
Sitting in Calculus 1152, to my left is an education major, to my right a business major, and behind me is a computer science major. Everyday, I split my time between high school and attending classes at Ohio State. It is through this I realize the diversity and opportunities at OSU. Students from across the state and around the globe with a variety of academic interests live, learn, and work together to become better citizens through education. This diversity, in combination with the breadth of coursework offered at Ohio State, will prepare me well to be a contributing citizen of society.
The summer program I find most stimulating allows me to use both my creative and research skills. Having read what the program offers, I can see that this program provides both elements. Incidentally, a more enlightened and well-versed man with critical thinking and reasoning skills is produced in me as an agent of change within any society in which I find myself.
To ensure that my program evaluation is objective, credible and fair I would employ internal and external counselors or advisors as well as align my program evaluation with the standards and practices of the professional body of evaluators. These “advisors “may or may not include the program stakeholders, but would not negate the formal process of collaborating with key stakeholders. Rather, the purpose of my advisor team is to see and hear things I missed.
My passion for mathematics was fixed at the age of ten, on the morning that my mathematics teacher told I would be sitting the Junior Maths Challenge, 'as practice for when you are older'. As I nervously started to answer the questions, a whole world began to open before me. I revelled in the problem solving, answering questions of a nature I had not seen before. My teachers were delighted when I emerged from the exam hungry for more. Since then I have consistently demonstrated my aptitude, achieving gold awards through to senior level, and scoring highly in the European Kangaroo.
and Welcome back! Today is the first day of Summer Registration!! I also wanted to let you all know about a great opportunity going on the weekend of April 15th. National Student Leadership Diversity Convention in Chicago is a great opportunity to get to enhance leadership skills, and have the opportunity to engage in discussion regarding aspects of diversity and inclusion. I added the link below so you will be able to get more information about the conference occurring at Malcolm X college. As a TRIO participant all fees will be paid for. If you have any questions about the conference or about Oakton, feel free to contact me. I hope to hear from you
Before I came to the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science, my world was small. I had never been exposed to the multiple STEM opportunities such as science fair, research, or university professors. I realized how fortunate I was to have such resources, and want to expose more young students to them. There are many underprivileged students in Denton ISD who don’t have access to STEM programs. I helped bridge this gap of educational opportunity by becoming a mentor for Aspire Mentorship, a program that promotes research among younger students to inspire them in the STEM fields. I mentored two middle school girls, a 7th and an 8th grader, through a research project from brainstorming ideas to conducting data analysis to their final presentation at the Fort Worth Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
Honestly, I would like to pursue this Freshman Fellowship in the medical field because my main passion in life is to help people. My involvement in helping others ranges from being involved in Key Club by hosting a blood drive to collecting children's books for a local underprivileged public school or being a founding member of S.A.D.D (Students Against Destructive Decisions), were I talking to middle school students about the dangers of peer pressure and how to say no and bringing in a drunk driving simulator for high school students. Beyond school, I volunteer at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in the Emergency Department and helped out in Michigan's Winter Special Olympics. By performing research in the medical field it would allow me
I’ve always been interested in the field of medicine. When I was being born, I almost died, being saved only by the ingenuity of a Nurse Day for whom my middle name is dedicated to. Above all else, I want to have an impact on the quality of life for others, and I think the University of Pennsylvania is one of, if not the, best ways to do that. Its bioengineering department is consistently ranked to be the most rigorous in the field, and I can handle rigor.
Ever since I can remember I have had an intense curiosity about the world and the people in it. This is probably due mostly to my parents who read to me nonstop but it has fuelled most of my learning experiences and given me a love of the world and of people, and the understanding of both of those. This love was further developed when I began four years of learning Attic Greek and Latin through a classical education. Then, after yearning to go overseas since I was eight years old and saving for it most of the time since then, I made it to England for six weeks this summer. Here my appetite for understanding is being indulged not just with words and pictures but with real world experiences which I can touch, see, and hear. Now, as I near the end of my stay, I am looking ahead to the rest of high school and I have decided I want to make the most of my junior and
Trying to decide what to do for the rest of my life is a hassle. I have to consider what I do well, what I enjoy, and how much income I would like to make. No one wants to wake up every morning hating their lives because they have to work long hours doing something they do not enjoy just to earn an income. The more a person loves their job, the better they will be at it and the more they will be willing to go to work. After spending many years being indecisive about my future, I have finally committed to pursue a career in speech pathology at Nicholls State University.
Since the time when I was little, my parents always encourage me to do the best, work hard, become educated and have a positive life style at a very young age. My earliest memories are that of reading interesting books because I love to read and do my science whiz experiments. However, I also had great interests in playing with Lego pieces and conducting fun chemistry games in my own tiny lab. It was a fun time for me; at least that’s how I recall it now. The only things I had to worry about were: what will I have for lunch today, which chemistry game or Lego pieces do I want to play with and my team winning the sports games I use to compete in.
I’m writing this letter to express my interest in becoming a Summer Student Admission Assistant. I will be a rising sophomore, originally from Vietnam, fluent in English and Vietnamese. I believe I’m qualified for this position due to my experience with admissions work and my passion for Georgetown University.
Discovering and choosing a college that best suits my needs was a rigorous yet thrilling task. The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising clearly came forth as the best choice for me to further my education in design. Being unable to visit the college campus, as I live in New York, I've done lots and lots of research about FIDM, and I realize the institute offers what I hope to gain from my college experience.
