Throgutout the book, the main character was going through mistrust moments which made me very curious what those calls and sound that she couldn't identify. In the beginning it was very interesting because it made me very thoughtful and having that curiosity of knowing what made the man character to be adventegous and expressng her confidence throughout the pages. If I was in this type of setting I personally wouldn't have the courage to go out in the wild to see what those particular calls and sounds were. I’m a very self-conscious person so I give a lot of credit for the 15 year old girl that stood up for herself in a way. If I was in the open and I was surrounded by naked Indians, I would be in shocked and very terrified I wouldn't know
In The Jungle by Uptown Sinclair, the immigrants were exploited to a point of slavery. They were not treated with care, and were considered a number and not a person. The company did not care whether or not how the person did their job, or how much danger the person in. As long as the job was done on time, and no money was wasted. At some points the men would not be able to work. Some men had little to no feeling in their hands due to cuts, and bruises. Uptown Sinclair showed this by saying, “The hands of these men would be criss-crossed with cuts, until you could no longer pretend to count them or to trace them.”-chapter 8 Sinclair. No person should have to go through all the pain and suffering these men had. It is hard for a person to make

Upon reading Upton Sinclair’s book The Jungle, it can easily be seen that there were numerous injustices occurring within the early 1900s Chicago government. He wrote the book in 1906 after spending six months gathering research on the lives of poor, low class, immigrant families. With this information, he published his first book, The Jungle, through which he displays the hardships a immigrant family faces when they move to America. He chose the meat packing industry in the city of Chicago as his backdrop for this story, and while the names of the characters are fictional, most of the story is based on his real observations. He originally wrote the book trying to “set forth the breaking of human hearts by a system which exploits the labor of men and women for profit,” but people took it the wrong way, and Sinclair explained this misinterpretation when he says “I aimed at the public's heart, and by accident I hit it in the stomach.” (NCBI) By this, he means that he wanted the American people to see the plight of the immigrants but instead the general public was more upset by the unsanitary condition of the meat they were ingesting. While Sinclair may not have achieved his original goal, his book did in fact have a significant impact; an impact that still effects the American people of today. It led to the creation of the Pure Food and Drugs Act of 1906 which is the predecessor to the modern day FDA (Young 231) (US Food). The Jungle shows the corruption in the Chicago government through the main character Jurgis and his trial, the raping of his wife Ona, and the unsanitary conditions in the meat factories where he worked.
The twenty-first century fills itself with fast improving technology that alters people’s lives. The world adapts to technology as a normal way of life and without it, people are considered “out of this touch” or unknown. Society has become too reliant on their smartphones, televisions, and video games that they seem to be delusional about the world around them and tend to go outside less and stay inside more hiding themselves from humanity. Statistics say that technology keeps friends, family, and co-workers in touch, but it does not keep them in touch with nature. Today, civilians are separated from reality by new advancements that are supposed to enhance people’s lives for the greater good, yet what all of these new advancements do is

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair is about a Lithuanian family living in Chicago in the 1900’s. They had faith in the American dream, hoping to start a new and successful life. Unfortunately they were deprived of they hopes and dreams. They were placed in the middle of a society where only the strongest and richest survived. The rich keep getting richer and the poor get even poorer. Jurgis and his family went to extreme lengths just in hopes of finding a job, they were forced to travel in heavy rain, strong winds, and thick snow, even when they were sick, in fear of losing their jobs. The Jungle pointed out many flaws in society such as filthy meat and sickening work conditions.
"Children of the Forest" is a narrative written by Kevin Duffy. This book is a written testament of an anthropologist's everyday dealings with an African tribe by the name of the Mbuti Pygmies. My purpose in this paper is to inform the reader of Kevin Duffy's findings while in the Ituri rainforest. Kevin Duffy is one of the first and only scientists to have ever been in close contact with the Mbuti. If an Mbuti tribesman does not want to be found, they simply won't be. The forest in which the Mbuti reside in are simply too dense and dangerous for humans not familiar with the area to enter.
Upton Sinclair was an American writer whose works reverts not only the inside but also the socialists view on things. Upton Sinclair was born in Baltimore, Maryland. In the early 1900's life for America's new Chicago immigrant workers in the meat packing industry was explored by Upton Sinclair's novel The Jungle. Originally published in 1904 as a serial piece in the socialist newspaper Appeal to Reason, Sinclair's novel was initially found too graphic and shocking by publishing firms and therefore was not published in its complete form until 1906. In this paper, I will focus on the challenges faced by a newly immigrated worker and on what I feel Sinclair's purpose was for this novel.

Into the woods was an adventurous play that was perfect for the use of your imagination and spirit. Into the Woods had numerous different fairy tales involved which could make a small child feel like he/she was in heaven. The acting, music, concept, stage design, costumes, and even the language of the play all mixed to perfection. The crowd became involved right away with the irony of the play. I liked how Into the Woods was set up in the beginning because it made the play easier to follow. However, the play seemed to be a little lengthy and some of the characters became annoying. I do not believe the second part of the play altogether was necessary. Into the Woods did not fulfill my expectations to the max,
After losing consciousness during the violent descend towards the ground, Koepcke woke up on the ground with a broken collarbone, a ruptured ligament in her knee and some deep cuts on her legs (Proud). She quickly realized that she had fallen nearly 2 miles onto the jungle ground and was the only survivor from Flight 508. Wearing a mini-dress and one flip shop shoe, Koepcke started her journey through the jungle for help. The daughter of successful ornithologist parents, Koepcke used knowledge from her parent’s studies in the jungle to follow a creek that would in turn leader her to a stream that would lead to a river where she would find civilization. Although avoiding large predators and other dangerous animals, she made her way through
Would the average person be able to survive if they were in the forest. It is also about the different foods in the forest. A person needs to know what kind of plants are poisonous and which one are edible. One also needs to know where to find food. Different foods will provide nutrients and protein. Someone trying to survive in the forest also needs to know how to prepare it. That is going to be life or death in the forest. Surviving in the forest is possible if one knows what kind of food is there, how to find it, and how to prepare it properly to eat.
