What impacted the Jews and other people such as elderly's, sick people, and other people who are weak, in the holocaust? The people in the camps were badly beaten, starved to death, when someone arrived the Nazis took all your belongings with them, and the conditions they were living in was terrible. In the story “A Holocaust Survived” Mandelbaum tells his story about when he was in the camps; now he has moved on.

For instance, the Jewish people in the camps were starved to death. As stated in paragraph 16, “ The food was scarce, me the daily meal mounted to a single piece of bread and what Mandelbaum describes as soup made out of grass.” As Mandelbaum recalls, his own weight dropped to eighty pounds. If you have not eaten in seven days it was most likely you would die of starvation or have health problems in the future. People would put the paper in their cheeks to make themselves look healthier so the Nazis would not take them and kill them.

Most importantly, the conditions they were living in was terrible; such as living in crowded into one little room with lots of bunks and two or three people slumbered on just one bunk. When they showered, they all went into a locker room got undressed together and went into one room, where they had just water thrown onto them. As soon as the Jews appeared, everything was taken away from them. All the clothes they brought was thrown into a fire pit, all jewelry was taken from them and the Nazis kept them to sell. If a Jew were captured with jewelry, the soldiers forcefully took the item and struck the Jews. For instance, if you had a gold tooth that you have had, they pull it out and take it from the Jews. The Germans made sure the Jews had nothing to live
