An Analysis Of Corrie Ten Boom's The Hiding Place

Can you imagine a corrupted, twisted, and merciless dictator slaughtering your friends and neighbors all around you? This is what Corrie ten Boom and the rest of her family experienced during World War Two which she later wrote about in her book The Hiding Place. Although everyone agrees that Hitler was using his power and influence to eliminate and torture the Jewish race, some strongly believe Corrie should have ignored the hopeless Jews and lived her life normally. Others however, claim she should have helped the hundreds of Jews seeking help. Corrie should have hidden the helpless, desperate, and terrified Jews for three reasons: Helping the Jews is what God would want, The Nazis where cruel and cold-hearted to the Jews beyond imagination, …show more content…

The Nazis were ruthlessly slaughtering the Jews unjustly. The Nazi soldiers were closing Jewish shops to hurt them and take away their profit. If the Jews were captured, they would be beaten or much worse. Last but not least the third reason Corrie should have hidden the helpless, desperate, and terrified Jews was because if the Nazi found them and sent them off to a concentration camp the ten Booms could bring hope to other prisoners. Because the ten Booms loved God they could bring the gospel to doubting prisoners. Corrie could deliver the much needed love into the concentration camps. The ten Boom could bring the comfort of a loving and caring God to the prisoners. People of the opposing side claim Corrie should have ignored the hopeless Jews and lived her life normally. They argue the Nazis will eventually find the hidden Jews because one Jew wheezes as loud as a train and they cannot enter the secret room fast enough. This is inadequate because with practice the Jews were able to make it to the room and God hid the wheezing from the Nazi
