“The Fighting Ground” by Avi, it was a very interesting book it had been settled around the 1700s when there was many, many, many wars for freedom. The main character Jonathan was a boy who had fantasies of being a hero at war will soon go to only a small battle to see his day-dreams aren't real, and gets more than a little life lesson after it’s all over. In the book the fighting ground Jonathan shows many emotions and traits such as on page 8 it shows him as a layer after he lies to his mother by not telling her that his father didn't want him to go to the tavern. Or like on page 140 he shows child innocents and kindness by trying to save a group of Hessians that had kidnapped him.
Summary: The story takes place in Idaho. The main character Danny Wright is in the military. He is in the National guard. He was ordered by his governor to stop a riot/protest in a nearby city. While he was on duty, he shot a civilian on accident. Then the rest of the operators started firing.13 people were killed and 9 were injured. His governor promises to protect everybody in that incident. Then the President wants the soldiers arrested. The governor and the president start throwing shots at each other and everything is getting heated up. Then a civil war breaks out. This also leads to many disasters. There is another book so this isn't really the end. Although out the story characters really try to find their inner selves.
“The dog always dies. Go to the library and pick out a book with an award sticker and a dog on the cover. Trust me, that dog is going down.” My book is no more dead dogs by Gordan Korman. The story's Main characters are Wallace Wallace ,Trudi Davis,Mr.Fogelman, and Dylan Turner. The setting of the story is mostly at the school and sometimes Wallace’s house. The theme of my book is not to judge a book by its cover.
The book I read is Dog Tags and the book takes place in WW2, it`s about a boy who lies about his age so he can get into the military. His squadron is attacked and his position is overrun by the Nazis and a tree fell over and knocked him out and when he wakes up he is alone. I would recommend this book for readers that like war history books. The book enables you to appreciate the character’s thoughts and feelings. The reader can empathize with the characters.
Graphic novels such as Nat Turner by Kyle Baker challenges the ways in which notable traditional novels refer to slavery by using panels to convey his message on the topic more explicitly. Kyle Baker discloses the power of learning contrasted with the disempowerment of not being educated by using powerful graphics. In the graphic novel, slaves were told who to be and how to be. Their opinions were never heard nor asked. Since birth, they had someone who told them that learning was forbidden for their kind. By showing the reader the state of the slaves, Kyle Baker introduces ignorance as a key factor to controlling individuals into accepting what they are told without questioning whether is right or wrong. It makes people weak and more likely to be manipulated. Baker also introduces the idea of how much power knowledge can give to an individual. Knowledge is power because what you have learned cannot be taken away – it can only be enhanced. Without knowledge, there would be no disobedience to an unjust act. Baker depicts the idea that knowledge is power through Nat Turner, who discovered different worlds through reading, became more eager to learn, and used what he had learned from his readings to become a leader. The chapter “Education” is an important chapter for this novel because it shows who was allowed to be educated, who was not, the benefits of being educated and the consequences.

The novel opens as Chaol, a royal guard, is retrieving Celaena, an assassin, from Endovier, the concentration/slave camp she has been in for the past 350 days. He then takes her to Prince Dorian, who has summoned the assassin to see if she would be capable of competing for him. The competition is to acquire the next King’s Champion. The King’s Champion basically does the dirty work for the ruler. The king is a arrogant, nasty man who has been dominating kingdoms throughout the land of Erilea. He also banished all forms of using or learning magic.

After Enzo “saves” Denny, He is renewed with an air of energy that leads to winning in the custody suit of his daughter Zoe and the dropping of the charges of rape.
Throughout the book, the narrator has memories of his past so this can contribute to the form of recurrences. The memory of his grandparents’ slavery time shows that he was mad at the fact that he came from slavery descent. In Chapter 1, he also mentions a memory of his high school days. When he was a part of the “Battle Royal” where he had to fight other black men. Another form that is in the story is Relationships. Although the narrator was “invisible”, he had many people that he met with. For example, Brother Jack, who the narrator meets. Jack was the narrator’s chance in order to make something of himself.
Bang Bang loud shots are going off, it’s the nineteen forties. World war two has just started it is a global war between the allies and the axis. It was the most wide spread war to ever occur in history. During this time there is a kid named Willie and his dog skip, Willie and skip both live in a small city in Mississippi. Willie is nine years old at the time and skip is a puppy. Skip was no ordinary dog he was extraordinary, some of the things he could do though might have seemed really bizarre. Most dogs can’t drive a car or play football. Willie was pretty mundane his life was just like any other nine year old. Willie attended school, he had some friends, and he liked to play sports, and had an austere life. Skip is a breed called “jack Russell terrier.” The author who wrote this lilting of writing is Willie Morris. The book “my dog skip” was published in 1995 Willie Morris would have been very prosperous subsequently all the profits made due to all the books being sold. Sadly Willie Morris passed away four years later he published the book in 1999.

Raoul Duke - The protagonist of the narrative and a stand-in for the author, Hunter S. Thompson. Duke is a heavy drinker and drug user. As a result, he is prone to erratic and outrageous behavior, but he does occasionally display compassion for the people around him. Duke's attorney - Raoul Duke's attorney is not given a proper name throughout the text, but when they are checking into the hotel, he uses "Dr. Gonzo" as his name to sign his telegram. He is described in the book as an overweight Samoan, and is one of Duke's best friends.
Originally published as a short story before being the first chapter of Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, “Battle Royal” depicts the struggle of African Americans in a society majorly dominated by white. The story presents a young African-American man who struggles to find his own identity and who is confronted to the hardship of the white community. Although Ralph Ellison makes numerous references to Booker T Washington and his idea of assimilation, he is using imagery such as the death of the grandfather, the battle royal, and the dream to demonstrate the limits of this idea.
The name of my book is Carrier Pilot which is a nonfiction story written by Norman Hanson. The main character in this story is Norman Hanson and is a pilot during the war and he gets to fly the best fighter of their time. When the enemy saw this fighter it struck fear into them because they all knew how fast this fighter plane was. Norman Hanson always wanted to be a pilot as a kid. When he got older he joined a fleet of young pilots like himself. His first assignment sent him to the south pacific ocean where they would stay on the HMS Illustrious which was one of the best aircraft carriers of the time. Himself and his group had to fend of the Japanese fighter and stop them from kamikazing into the ship. To prevent this him and his group of fighters to attack them before they keep attacking the ship. But once started as a group of 6 fighters thins down to 4 fighters through fierce dog fights. His goal throughout the story is to protect his country from being attacked by the Japanese or any other nation that threatens America.
In the story, the dog almost knocks the boy over in his excitement due to not receiving attention from his past life of slavery. The dog regrets what he has done, and “...the dog apologized and eloquently expressed regret, but he continued stealthily to follow the child” (Crane). Although the dog has not done anything wrong, he apologizes anyway. He always shows loyalty and trust to his new master--the child--no matter what, like a slave to his master. The dog shows his loyalty by never overthrowing or injuring the child, no matter how many times the child attacked him. He knows the boy will punish him if he is not obedient, since he has so many times before. With slavery comes a large division between the North and the South because the southern states with to have slaves to help with their farm work while the northern states believe having slaves is inhumane and unnecessary. The child’s parents show this division; the mother represents North and the father representing South. The family needs to make a large decision—whether or not to keep the dog. When the father comes home from work to discuss with his wife, he “...was in a particularly savage temper that evening, and when he perceived that that it would amaze and anger everybody if such a dog were allowed to remain, he decided that it should be so” (Crane). He makes the decision based on what will anger the
