Chapter 1:
Sudden Wave- a nickname for squall, which is a storm that happens at sea but happens very quickly.
One Direction Follow- a nickname for a long wind storm with rain and thunderstorms moving in a straight line, rapidly.
If convection didn’t take place, the planet would be very dry with no plants, trees, and forests. This would lead to animals going extinct too because they have no habitat. Without convection taking place, the planet wouldn't have any thunderstorms and/or rain. Since convection is the vertical transport of heat and moisture in the atmosphere, clouds are created with rain or storms. This is because convection goes through the process that creates air currents in the atmosphere.
Chapter 3:

I love when it snows because it shows that winter is here and a chance of no school. But, I also don’t like when it snows because it’s so cold. So I don’t love snow with a burning passion and I also don’t despise it, I’m somewhere in between and I’m sure many other people are too.
A weird weather phenomenon that could occur in our area is a tsunami while its snowing. Tsunamis happen by landslides, underwater earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. For it to snow while a tsunami is happening, the temperature would have to be below

This is the reason why cows choose to stay in the lowlands right before a storm comes.
Sea gulls- “When a sea gull sits on the sand, it’s never good weather while you’re on land.” Since sea gulls live in the sea, they can tell when a storm is coming by how the water is. So, when they go onto land to keep themselves safe from the sea, you know there’s a storm coming.
Goats- “When goats seek shelter, expect a storm.” Since goats have wool coats, they need shade sometimes when it gets too hot and thunderstorms usually occur on hot days when theres some sun. So, when goats look for shelter, they are feeling the heat and trying to get away from it, which shows that a storm is coming.
Leaves- “If you see the backs of the leaves, it will rain soon.” There’s a form of easterly wind that makes the back of a leaf show and easterly winds shows that rain is coming. So, when a leaf is turned on its back that means there is easterly winds and rain is
It can symbolize many things like purification and “can bring the world back to life”(Foster 72). Rain is usually thought to be in a passage for imagery, which can be true, but it also can also have an actual meaning. This is the same with other weathers and seasons that are places in stories and passages. Though this is true Foster says “Rain can be more mysterious, murkier, more isolating than most other weather conditions”(71).
Thomas C. Foster’s How to Read Literature Like A Professor is a thorough guide that analyzes both the deeper meanings and the underlying elements in literature. In one of the chapters, titled “It’s More Than Just Rain or Snow,” Foster elucidates that if an author incorporates a weather condition into his writing, it is not just a meaningless, superficial detail. Weather can act as a template for the plot or be symbolic to the mood of the story. Foster uses weather as a way to symbolize literary details in general, indicating that they can contribute a copious amount of quality to the descriptiveness and significance of the content. He uses rain to illustrate this, reasoning that if a character needed to be cleansed and the author inserts a rainstorm for cleansing, the rain has much more substance than just another April shower (Foster, 71). Rain is clean, so this type of water pouring down on the character is essentially cleaning them. This detail of rain can be used to create another type of environment for the story, such as a way to unite people (Noah’s Ark) or serve as a form of
Rain can associate fear because drowning magnifies fear (us being land creatures). Rain profound this sort.
In a piece of literary work weather is never just weather. Rain, snow, storms, and even rainbows all have their distinct meanings and in most cases usually symbolize something much deeper. Weather can change the entire mood of a novel and this is important because at times authors use weather to symbolize what is going on emotionally with a character. Two works of literature that use weather accordingly and symbolically are Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and The Odyssey by Homer.
(Hurst online). In literature, the weather is typically a key symbol in foreshadowing events, whether positive or negative, that are
Next, is the gruesome sound that these storms make when they are causing absolute havoc. It just makes you feel the utmost fear for those you love because you know something is coming. It is deafening to hear the storm at such a close distance. You lose all ability to hear being so close to the storm causing such a fierce pain in your ears. You almost wish that this world was not so cruel, to be able to live peacefully. Instead this world has so many things that can change a person’s life
Weather is very important in literature, not only does it help to set the mood, but it can also help reveal a character’s mood. When a character is happy, the sun might be shining and the birds might be chirping, or the opposite, if a character is sad then it might be raining or gloomy out. For example, in the “Great Gatsby” when Daisy firsts comes over to Nicks house unaware that Gatsby is there, it’s raining outside. The rain could represent Gatsby’s nervousness to see Daisy after so many years, and when the two finally do reunite, the rain continues. The rain could also symbolize the awkwardness between the two after meeting again for so long. When Nick returns, the rain stopped and the sun is shining, and we find that Daisy and Gatsby are
Why does Jay Gatsby pursue Daisy Buchanan with incomparable persistence? One might say it’s because Daisy is beautiful. It could be because Daisy’s from Louisville and Gatsby has a thing for Kentuckian girls. Maybe it’s because Daisy drives a nice car. Gatsby could just love girls named after flowers. Though there are countless reasons Gatsby could pursue Daisy, the reason Gatsby endlessly chases Daisy is because she represents everything he hopes to achieve. She has wealth and is an upper class citizen. Gatsby believes she is the key to his own wealth and success in life. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald suggests that Gatsby ties his dreams and visions of success to Daisy. This is seen in the novel’s play on religious ideals and Gatsby’s idealization of Daisy.
In the first stanza, the speaker begins to examine the incoming storm. Easily “knowing better than the instrument / What winds are walking overhead, what zone / Of gray unrest is moving,” he is already familiarized with storms. In the literal sense, the speakers anticipates that a storm is
In this paper, we will compare and contrast the difference between a for-profit and a not-for-profit healthcare system from a financial perspective. Also, this paper will provide examples of both, and the implications of each on the health professionals, the patients, and the insurance companies. The United States is confronting some overwhelming financial difficulties, not the slightest of which is our broken social insurance framework. The U.S. spends about twice as much cash per capita on social insurance as other created countries, yet the measurements demonstrate that Americans wind up with an inadequate care and poorer health outcomes (Hill, 2011).
Native American tribes believe intense weather conditions such as wind and rainstorms are their ancestors communicating with them. Their ancestors symbolize those who came before them, definingwho they are and the legacy they are destined to
Evening had arrived and everything had been packed away ready for its next use. It had also brought the grim warning of a storm. The sky was brimming with a dark shade of grey and black, making the mood eerily mysterious. A storm was brewing; it was about to blow, just like a volcano about to erupt. Then, “Boom!”. A lightning strike crackled across the sky, one after another. After three lightning strikes a downpour of rain fell from the sky.
As the rain began to come down in an awkward fashion, as if it were
According to Wikipedia, marijuana is a name for cannabis plant and a drug preparation made from it. Commonly it is named as cannabis, bud or weed, pot or ganja. I have found marijuana to be one of the most controversial things in United States. Not necessarily is marijuana controversial, the views related with the legalization of this thing are truly dubious. It is true that different persons have different views to see every object. So the view of peoples towards the legalization of marijuana varies with the person. In the United States, I have found that some of the people think that marijuana should be legalized because it is not much harmful as people’s belief and also there are lots of therapeutic values. Others believe that it is a drug and gateway to other drugs so it should not be legalized. And some believe that as it has both good and bad effects it should be legalized with certain condition. In this essay I am going to talk about the views of different people on the legalization of marijuana.
Weather has a way of making people feel a certain way, by affecting their mood. Bright and sunny weather tends to make people happier, while dull and dreary weather brings about less appealing emotions, such as grumpiness, sadness, or fear. Tornado weather, especially in tornado alley, is a source of emotion. For many people living in tornado alley, tornado season offers a mix of fear and excitement. However, for most, when the tornado is actually present, fear tends to take over and the excitement is lost. The tornado that occured on May 20th, 2013 was a great example of how a tornado can turn from exhilirating to terrifying.
