One of his organizations has a huge event coming up in two weeks, and his help is needed for the event to run smoothly. Zach also is in Organic Chemistry and has a Test coming up in two weeks. He knows he needs to study, but he thinks he has enough time to prep and plan for the big event. Time passes and its the day before the test and the event and Zach has not put in enough study time for his test. Jonathan has never tried online dating before, but he ended up finding someone that he wants to have dinner date with. He already set up his dinner reservations and transportation. The counselor worked with the client on assessing her situation and developing ways to help her friend without the added stress. The client appeared to struggle internally with making a decision to kick her friend out and he will possibly be living on the street or dealing with the added stress in supporting him. The client seems to believe he has no other support system other than her which is making her decision more difficult. The client was willing to entertain the idea of finding other support systems for him but the counselor is not sure if she will follow through because she appears to be enjoying his company even though this situation is placing a strain on her finances.

On a sunny Monday morning, in Mr. Ripple’s second period English class, Alex gets an assignment and does not do it until the day before it is due. It was assigned a week before the due date. A person experiences stress when they perceive that the demands of their work are greater than their ability to cope. Coping means balancing the demands and pressures placed on you (i.e. the job requirements) with your skills and knowledge (i.e. your capabilities). For example, if you give a member of your team a tight deadline on a project they feel they have neither the skills nor ability to do well, they may begin to feel undue pressure which could result in work related stress.

Stress is described as a psychological and psychological and physical strain or tension generated by physical, emotional, social, economical or occupation circumstances, events, or experience that are difficult to manage or endure (Andrew M. Colman, 2015). Stress can affect all aspects of your life, which include your emotional, behaviours thinking ability, and psychical health (webmd, 2016). More than one in five Australian have reported mental health issue as a source of stress (psychology, 2014).
Mark has been taking classes in the EMT Program at his local community college. Although it has been challenging to juggle school, a demanding job, and parental responsibilities, he is close to finishing his degree, and at this time he starts to panic as he realizes he only has a day before his final exams.

Stress today can be described as "that which disturbs a person's mental and physical well-being" (Morrison 1). Common symptoms of stress include chronic fatigue, changes in appetite, drug and/or alcohol abuse, difficulty sleeping, body aches, and changes in emotions (Cooper 1-2). And although stress is something that is inevitable, it can be controlled. Just about everything we do today creates stress, both good and bad. In the face paced and technological world we live in, stress management is key to survival as well as sanity.
