“Ugh I’ll just do this assignment tomorrow!”... Something that all high schoolers say nowadays. On a sunny Monday morning, in Mr. Ripple’s second period English class, Alex gets an assignment and does not do it until the day before it is due. It was assigned a week before the due date. He struggles with not getting enough sleep, getting caught up with other activities and when he goes home, he’s caught up with football practices/games. Alex always struggles with turning in assignments on time. However, his friend Chloe reminds him that “tomorrow never comes”. He chooses to ignore the saying until the night before and pulls an all-nighter. Alex was sitting in his second period English class with his teacher, Mr. Ripple and numerous amounts …show more content…
She asks him what the assignment is about and he explains to her that it is an analysis essay on the novel he is currently reading in class. He has not yet done any assignments for the novel and has failed every quiz on the novel. In addition, Alex needs to catch up on his other classes as well. He still has to finish the novel due to the fact that he is only on chapter 2. Chloe says “Alex! Do it now so you can get everything finished quicker!” and all he says is “I will tomorrow I …show more content…
He gets more stressed because he knows his essay is not that great. Although he could ask Chloe for help, he does not. It is the night before the essay assignment is due, and freaks out and Chloe tells him, “I told you so!” Therefore he does not have enough time to write a well written paper, and has to get a lack of sleep. After turning his assignment in late, he ended up getting a poor grade on it and learned his lesson and thought about how Chloe was right. After that day on, he learned his lesson on how tomorrow really does not come and he should not procrastinate in the future. Everyone should always know to never procrastinate because if you do, it will never
How could Ally forget that she had the biggest test of the year tomorrow? When the bell rang, Ally grabbed a piece of paper from Mrs.Woods class and sped-walked to her flex period. Once she arrived at the library, she sat at an available table . On her piece of paper she made a schedule for tonight and how she could study, go to Grandma’s , and play in the championship. That is when she had an idea! She would go to her game and straight from her game , she would go to grandma’s party, drop off her present, ask her if they could spend time together over the weekend because she is very busy and go home to study. It was a tight schedule but Ally thought it just might
3) A syllogistic reasoning for this is; When you procrastinate you get stressed. The student procrastinated. Therefore he is stressed.
In this paper I will be questioning and predicting. On some parts in the book I was confused. Here are my questions I had while reading this book. Why is Alex doing all these dangerous jobs, when it seems he does not want to? I think he is doing these things to keep himself save and here is why.
Later in the day, when Edgar went to lunch, he sat by himself. Alex strolled up to him and said, “ Well, well, well, look who we have here?” Edgar tried to not to look up, but eventually did. “Move it or I will move you with punches.” Edgar stood up to change seats when Alex tripped him. Mr. Parrott, the school disciplinarian, saw Alex trip Edgar and yelled, “Alex, go to my office. Now!” Alex, in an angry manner, kicked a chair and strolled at his own pace to Mr. Parrott’s office. Mr. Parrott gave Alex in-school suspension for three days and warned him to leave Edgar
The $320,000, on the other hand, is a fixed cost associated with the proposed addition.
Jason is a college student and he is taking five classes at once. Even though he knows he has a great deal of homework to do, he waits until the day before it is due to start his work. However, Jason will do a little of his
In article How Kids Learn Resilience, Paul Tough argues that stress can push a child into a cycle of failure in school, harmfully impacting a child’s education and outside life. He claims that stress is apparent in every student’s life; however some have more and this stress has a direct connection on the child’s success both in school and out. Stress can be caused by many things, such as economic, family, or even social problems. The stress prevents a student from staying focused in school because they are distracted by other problems. Since they are not able to focus, they do not perform well at school, leading to bad grades, which leads to more stress. This cycle continues and the student is unable to learn as the workload gets more complicated.
At first, I had absolutely no idea the Alex was nervous until I reread and scrutinized the chapter, I found serval places where he showed signs of nervousness and depression. The first time he showed nervousness, was when he kept thinking of all the possibilities that could go wrong. Of all people, I think that I would be the master at knowing nervousness. For example: At the end year of the 2014-2015 school year, we were assigned workbook pages worth a test grade. For everybody else this wasn’t a huge deal, but it was for me. I had an eighty in the class and my test average was high. That meant, anything below a ninety-five, would cause me to fail. If I failed, I wouldn’t be allowed to come back to Davidson! Since it was assigned, I couldn’t do anything but think of the worst possibilities, just like Alex. Just like Alex screwed up by blowing his cover, I screwed up by not answering a question, but just like he covered it up, I did too. Except I got caught and received a ninety-nine. Luckily, Alex hasn’t gotten caught and I hope he
The problem was, I had no idea when I would actually go to bed. The problem with trying to be a 4.0+ student is it is really hard! The last thing I did was turn in my last assignment,”7.03 Policymaking Process.” I felt so much happiness at that moment, I had just turned in the last assignment; I was filled with satisfaction, I finally pressed the mouse of my computer so obnoxiously that it woke up my cat sitting beside me, I even woke myself up a bit. The button flashed like a strobe light reading, “Submitted” in large purple letters.
So they decide to go to class without a pass and try to get in the class. When they were in the hallway the lights began to go off and on. They were confused Mr.Jessup began to walk in the hallway while it was happening. Alex then ask “what's happening to the light”. He responds by saying “nothing is happening stop wasting my time”. He then starts to walk off to his office.
I think Alex needs to look beyond his milieu to see the impact society has on him. After Alex thinks about what he’s going through, he will realize that going to school and working is what the majority of people do in society. Also, he’ll realize he needs to graduate from school to be successful. After he graduates from school he
It wasn’t that Paisley was dumb, no, this girl was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. She was, however lazy. It was a blisteringly cold day, in late November, in the town of Springfield. As her mom awoke her, Paisley came to the shocking realization, that she had already come to two times before this year, that she had an immense amount of homework and there was absolutely no possible way she could get it done in the approximately forty-five minutes she had to get ready and to go to school.
Alex is a kid who was very bad at history. He didn't know very much about it. He tells his parents and teacher it because he has never been there, but that will all change.
I found Chapter 54: The Ripple Effect, to be incredibly thought provoking. The idea presented refers to the way our actions have an immediate effect on the people around us, as well as the broader communities we belong to. Tao (1985), stated that “everyone influences everyone else”, therefore, it is important to consider the magnitude of our actions (p.686). Leadership roles often increase the number of individuals we communicate with and provide direction to, making this principle especially important to remember.
Over the summer break, my mom had accidentally thrown out my summer homework that I had labored for days over. Despite the fact that I was fuming with anger, I asked myself, “If I don’t redo the packet by tonight, will I be satisfied?” My answer was no. I stayed up until two in the morning redoing the packet, but it was worth it. No matter how miserable I was that night, it was exponentially better than the feeling of anxiety that would loom over my head during my last few days of summer vacation. Knowing myself, I would have constantly thought about it as the impending due date neared if it wasn’t finished yet.
