The concluding third of the the book was by far the best part as it had me at the edge of my seat the whole time. At the end of the second part of the book Alex found out what the map of his late uncle meant, and he went out to find what was at the end of the map. He came to a closed door and when he opened it up he saw people in lab coats putting this special kind of liquid into every shipment of Stormbreaker computer. Alex realized that his uncle was not scared of a computer virus but he was scared of biological warfare. He tried to contact MI6 but as he pulled out his special Gameboy he felt a gun pointed at his back and he went unconscious. When he woke up he was handcuffed to a chair in Sayle’s office. In a true evil-genius fashion Sayle tells …show more content…
Another evident theme in the book is the thirst for power, shown mostly by Sayle. we can tell this when he says "No matter how successful I've become, no matter how much money I've made, how many people I've employed. I'm still Herod Smell, the goat-boy, the Cairo tramp" (13.166). Sayle’s past was very difficult being a kid who moved from Cairo to England. He was made fun of by his bully (who turned out to be the prime minister when he got older) and now he wanted to he his bully. That's why Sayle went into power, and that's also why he is trying to ruin England; he wants to destroy what his bully loves. This childishness of Sayles brings upon another huge theme in the story which is coming of age and being too young. This is mostly seen in the thoughts of Alex on his journey, an example is, “Suddenly everything seemed unfair. He had never asked to be here. He had been forced into this by MI6 and he'd already done more than enough (14.188). This is an example of Alex not wanting to take on his responsibilities. After all he is only 14, and he should not be stuck with the job to save the world at such a young
People are unsure about sending juvenile delinquent, Cole Matthews, back to a remote island off the coast of Alaska, where Cole was assaulted by a wild bear and left to die, or if he should go directly to jail. In the text, it states, “When you’re released, you’ll still have your parents to deal with and you’ll still be facing a jail term. I doubt the Hearing Circle will consider returning you to the island after what’s happened.” In this quote, it is clear that Cole is facing quite the odds, Cole Matthews should go back to that island, back to where it all started. He should go, against people's opinions, he still has time on his Circle Justice sentence.
In the book H20 Ruby has a lot of hate toward the world and people. Ruby always has a lot of hate, but what she hates the most is .27 because that is the percentage of population that survived the storm. That means that there is a great chance that her dad is dead. With that knowledge that hear dad is probably dead and that he is the only one that she has left. “ZERO POINT TWENTY-SEVEN PERCENT,” shouted Darius.
>What Klaus did in response to Elijah and Hayley's doubt was legit abuse. He poisoned Elijah and scared Hayley because they dared to doubt his intentions? That's not justified. That's not even sane. The sane response is to say "No, I didn't even know that was possible," and then let them know that their assumptions hurt him. Not to poison and strand them in a way that left them zero recourse - even getting pissed off and throwing a punch would have been less abusive than what he actually did, because then Elijah could respond and defend himself. Not to mention that the level of harm involved is way, way lower than a werewolf bite.
If billions of dollars were up for grabs, what extremes would you go to in order to get it? The novel Ready Player One is about a future society much overpopulated where people spend most of their time in the OASIS, a virtual reality world. The huge success of the OASIS made its inventor, James Halliday, the richest man alive. Before his death, he created a treasure hunt with the prize being the inheritance of the OASIS and all his fortunes. The main character, Wade Watts, devotes all of his time to learning about Halliday with hopes of finding a clue to the first gate.
“But then he burped and remembered that they were trying to kill him, and he sprinted out of the mess hall wildly and ran looking for Doc Daneeka to have himself taken off combat duty and sent home. He found Doc Daneeka in sunlight, sitting on a high stool outside his tent.
Amy Cahil: Amy is strong on the inside, but she is scared to confront other people because she is afraid they will make fun of her. She struggles with this problem throughout the book, as Riordan states on page 15, “I wish I could just curl up into a ball and leave this conversation.” Even though she is shy, she makes up for it with an enormous IQ, as Riordan states on page 42, “‘Amy you’re supposed to be the genius, not me.’” Then Amy says, “‘ Shut up Dan I’m thinking.’”
“Treat people how you want to be treated.” -The golden rule. Mrs.Bigio would be very depressed if she was treated like how badly she treated Mai Thi in the middle of the book. She was a very depressed and enraged person, but then reinvented herself into a grateful and joyful person.
In today’s world, knowledge is useless without the wisdom to apply it to real life situations. The great biblical author, King Solomon, once wrote, “How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!” (Proverbs 16:16). Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment. In Chaim Potok’s novel The Chosen, the main characters Reb Saunders and David Malters display their immense wisdom when raising their children. In addition Danny Saunders also shows wisdom with the way he handles his friendship with Reuven Malters. The theme of wisdom exists throughout the chosen but, it remains mostly evidenced by the characters Reb Saunders, Danny Saunders, and David Malter.
Being a Finch in the small Southern town of Maycomb, affords Jean Louise and the rest of her family special privileges and freedoms but the privileges come with strict expectations and responsibilities. Jean Louise does not realize that she comes from a respected family and she has certain privileges that she can, and often does, take for granted. This invisibility of privilege becomes evident later in the book when Hank points out to her that, “‘You’re a Finch… you can parade around town in your dungarees with your shirttail out and barefooted if you want to” (Lee 231). Jean Louise has freedoms that other people don’t get to enjoy because if somebody of a lower status, such as Hank, were to drift from the ‘norm’ Maycomb would say “‘ That’s
“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them”, says Maya Angelou, an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist. This quote reflects to Sarah’s journey in the novel Sarah’s Key by Tatiana De Rosnay, since the main character, Sarah, faces events that affect her well being, as they make her both weaker and stronger. These events causes her to lose her innocence, makes her persistent, and then eventually drives her to be pessimistic. Sarah experiences traumatic events through her journey, which leads her to change both in a positive and negative way.
As Macon’s African Heritage became “Dead”, the outspoken Guitar Bains sung his ideals loud and clear. Guitar is described by his best friend, Milkman, as “wise and kind and fearless.” (47) A clear description that foreshadows his motifs and actions. Although Guitar is portrayed as fearless, he is unable to move forward because he has not given up his own psychological baggage that weighs him down. Guitar evidently foreshadows himself, when speaking with his friend towards a bird’s inability to fly. “Can’t nobody fly with all that [stuff]. Wanna fly, you got to give up that [stuff] that weighs you down.” (179) Guitar’s tragic past serves as a stressor that leads him to take matters into his own hands. Having grown up in poverty after his father
One theme that I noticed throughout the novel is how something small can represent something so big like the game that they played in Battle School was a simple game but it was everything they had so it meant so much to them. Another example of this theme is when Ender was in Command School working on the “simulator” and Ender viewed the game as child’s play when in reality
The most obvious of the themes is that of violence, brutality, and torture. Tied into this also is the idea of injustice. Many of these themes are intertwined. Constantly the reader is berated with violent images, or descriptions of violence. These must be on nearly every second page of the novel. A good
To begin with, one major theme that continuously played a part throughout the entire book is desire. To many of the characters, it was the one urge that they could never overcome. One
The novel starts off with Alex Rider in a hospital recovering from an assassination attempt caused by the terrorist organization Scorpia. He meets a teen his age named Paul Drevin - son of Russian multibillionare Nikolei Drevin and host of the Ark Angel project - and forms an alliance with him. This action is complex because forming an alliance can be very difficult. Later, one night, a group of four men arrive in the hospital in an attempt to kidnap Paul Drevin. Alex, in an attempt to rescue Paul, pretends to be Paul himself and overpowers the four men, before eing knocked out by a fifth man. This shows how complex he is. Alex is captured by the men and taken to an abandoned apartment. The men reveal themselves to be Force Three, an eco-terrorist group led by a man named Kaspar. Alex proves that he is not Paul Drevin, but Force Three burns the tower and leaves Alex to die anyway - he escapes using a tightrope.
