“Sit down, let’s talk. A couple weeks ago, you came to me asking for advice regarding your stock portfolio. I didn’t help you too much then, but I will now. I don’t recommend investing your money at this age, but to do so after receiving the right education,” Mr. Forgeron advised to me as I shifted uncomfortably in the chair. This was not at all what I was expecting when he called me up to his desk after winning the monthly game of Hangman in our seventh grade Algebra class, but I listened intently.
“Where do I get the right education,” I asked, now very interested in his answer.
“University of Pennsylvania. It’s the best there is,” he answered bluntly.
Through the next five years, Penn stayed at the top of my college list. I visited countless other colleges, but when I visited Penn in the spring of this year with the words of my favorite teacher ringing in my ears, I knew that Penn was where I wanted to be.

Furthermore, since Wharton attracts the best students in the world, I will be able to engage in stimulating conversations about my interests with similarly passionate students that will expose me to various viewpoints.
