He reveals that San Antonio had a significant role in assisting Texas's environment due to the Spanish colonials. San Antonio also became the most successful settlement in Texas because of their Hispanic settlement after the late 1700s. Many of the Spanish colonizers appreciated the landscape and parries and well as the rough terrain. Many of the settlers also enjoyed the climate in Texas because it was never too hot or cold. It was seemingly the perfect place to settle due to the fact that not many natural disasters occurred within the region as well as the fertility of the land was not ever seen with any concern. Food and animals were also abundantly available to the inhabitants of this region. Overall, travelers into Texas could agree upon one thing which was that Texas was a prime place for agriculture. The San Antonio River also was seen as a great asset for not only the current settlers but for the future of San Antonio. Down the line inhabitants of San Antonio altered the natural state in which San Antonio once was. Though, their intention was not to do this- it was a necessary action to continue to expand what the Bexarenos believed would help grow San

Stephen Austin was born on the Third of November in the year of 1793 at Austinville, Virginia. His family was one that made their wealth through the booming industry of lead mining. When he became fourteen years old, Austin went to study at Transylvania University in Kentucky; after two and a half years of study, he would never finish as his father needed his assistance to run his store. Also, this experience in running a store would provide Stephen F. Austin with “the excellent business habits and knowledge of human nature,” which would be useful for his future career as well as the title as the Father of Texas (Father of Texas, 14). His experience from this métier would be necessary for the formation of
The Texas legislature, as stated by Champagne, Harpham, & Casellas, is a bicameral legislature compromised of two chambers. That is, the Senate and the Texas House of Representatives (2017, p. 211). It includes 31 senators and 150 House members. The legislature serves as the most critical establishment that aids in representing the state (Champagne et al., 2017, p.211). Members of the Texas state legislature must meet the essential requirements, perform their duties to the best of their ability, represent citizens, and attend sessions.
Political advocacy organizations have historically played a big part in securing political rights for minority groups in Western Liberal Democracies. Whether we look to the now infamous Boston Tea Party to the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, we observe the importance of political organizations in their quest to ensure equitable rights for the people whom they represent. In context of the early twentieth century, the most prominent group to represent African-American’s in the United States was that of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The NAACP, as it is more commonly called, was founded on February 12, 1909 by a mixed group of individuals including but not limited to Ida B. Wells, W. E. B. DuBois and Archibald Grimké with the goal of creating a civil rights organization that would help assist in organizing for civil rights for blacks. One of its most prominent members, Charles Hamilton Houston, who became a part of the organization around the mid-twentieth century, changed the trajectory of the organization for years to come. Hence this essay
Sam Houston was a man of many faces. Whether it was a friend to the Indians, governor of two States, or president of the Republic of Texas, he always stayed true to his practicality and fought for what was right. Because of this Sam Houston’s name will synonymously remain with Texas Independence, and forever be immortalized in textbooks and novels alike.
The total average cost of attendance to attend Texas A&M for one year cost about $27,272 (for in-state residents), which includes tuition and fees, board and room, books, transportation and other types of expenses. It’s also not a problem if you don’t live nearby . There are 16 different A&M University's. The closest ones from here would be Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and College Station. Texas A&M is the state’s oldest institution of higher education, and was founded in 1876.
Moses Austin would not live to see it come to fruition as he was attacked my highway men and died shortly thereafter. That would fall on his son, Stephen F. Austin, who is often referred to as the “Father of Texas”. Austin and the other settlers were drawn to the territory by grants and deferred taxation provided by the Spanish government; however, in 1821 Mexico declared independence from Spain. Austin was concerned that the new independent Mexican government would not recognize the previous arrangements made with his father. He would have to travel all the way to Mexico City to make his case, and in 1823 the Mexican Congress confirmed Austin’s grant.
While Texas leader Stephen Austin initially had no contempt toward Mexicans, the Anglo-American citizens in the area did. The American Texans of the 1800’s defined Mexicans as “a race alien to everything that Americans held dear” (De Leon 4). This sentiment would serve as the primary catalyst to the Texas secession from Mexico. When Austin began colonizing the area, he envisioned a place in which Anglo-Americans and Tejanos, Mexicans living in Texas, could live together. Eventually, though, the public opinions of North American settlers in the territory and in Washington would make him realize that the goal of unity between the two groups was impossible.
If you’ve ever studied U.S. History the chances are you’ve heard the saying, “Remember the Alamo!” To a Texan those three simple words emphasize the strength, bravery, and commitment Texans have to defend their beliefs until the end. But what exactly is the Alamo? The Alamo was the first mission in the San Antonio region of Texas. The Alamo was originally called Mission San Antonio de Valero.
