Glamorously gaudy, this self-made post-modern diva, Lady Gaga was the first true millennial superstar. She seems to be stitched together from elements of Madonna, David Bowie, and Freddie Mercury. Mastering the constant connection of the internet era like no other, Gaga has generated countless mini-sensations through her style, her videos, and her music; cultivating a devoted audience she dubbed her "Little Monsters." However it’s hard to understand the end when you don’t know the beginning, so that’s where we’ll start.

Leaving behind school to find creative inspiration left her working three jobs, one including a stint where she became a gogo dancer while she perfected her performances. Soon after in 2005, Gaga was signed to Def Jam Records as a songwriter. However, just a few months later Def Jam Records dropped her where she then preformed in clubs and venues on New York City’s Lower East Side. She then started to dapple more in fashion and even formed a band entitled the Stefani Germanotta Band, also known as the SGBand. They even released two EPs prior to conflicts and breaking up. Two years later in 2007 Gaga was again signed but to a different record label, Interscope Records. There, Gaga began to write music for artist such as Britney Spears, New Kids on the Block, The Pussycat Dolls, Adam Lambert, and Wale. Akon, the R&B artist, discovered Gaga while she was preforming in a show she created dubbed “Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue.” Akon was quick to jump at her immense talent and signed her as a recording artist where she quickly released her debut album The
