How would you like to be sent away from your friends and family before you were even an adult? Not to mention you had to kill others to save yourself, could you do it? Can you save yourself? Your friends. This is what Katniss had to do. The book is called “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins. The capital of Panem forces the 12 districts to compete in a televised challenge. They send 1 girl and 1 boy from each district into a large arena. Then they must all fight to the death until there is one survivor. However, on this specific hunger games they allowed two people to survive as long as they were from the same district. Throughout the games, the main character (Katniss Everdeen) rebels against the capital. Some examples of characters standing up to the capital in the Hunger games include Katniss and Peeta threatening to eat the poisonous berries, Katniss covering Rue's body with flowers, and Katniss shooting an arrow towards the game makers during her evaluation. …show more content…

The Capitol had just announced that the revision from earlier in the game has been revoked. That revision was when the capital said there could be two winners. Katniss and Peeta cannot believe what's happening to them, I mean they finally made it out. Or at least they thought they did. Soon Katniss comes up with the plan to have them both “kill themselves” so that the capital doesn’t get a winner and the gamemakers will be in trouble. Except for the fact that she wasn’t actually going to die and neither was Peeta, she just wanted to make it believable. So she took the berries and gave some to Peeta, made sure the camera was on, and started counting down. By the time they got to 3, the gamemakers caved and told them that they could both win.
