A dystopian novel is a novel that is a futuristic world in which ordinary things are restricted or taken away, thinking they have made a perfect world, A utopia is the opposite of a distopia the utopian world is a perfect world . We are reading 2 books called Farenheit 451 and The House of The Scorpion both of these books are dystopian novels.

Arguably, there is no doubt that in our society although, it is illegal to commit any sort of crime of harming other people, but nontheless people still do it, many mindless human beings out there with knowledge that harming someone is a crime, yet they still do it. similarly, to the novel divergent, in our modern day society there is often alot of bribeing, and manipulation between people, including the goverment at times. Overall, the point is that even though a setting just like the one in the dystopian novel divergent isnt as harsh and extreme as our modern day society, if we open our eyes and just look for a moment we would realize how similar these two society can

Oxford dictionary defines dystopia as “an imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically totalitarian or environmentally degraded to one.” In Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 and Kurt Vonnegut’s Harrison Bergeron the government uses censorship to make everyone equal. Censorship cause utopian societies to become dystopian due to a false perception of happiness, untruthful statements and strong outliers.

" This is the same for many works that have dystopian elements included in them. Dystopian themed texts, normally have relative themes. Some of these themes are oppression, corruption, propaganda, control, freedom, and many more. The fact is, if there is a dystopian book that has one theme, there is most likely going to be a type of literature that has a theme similar to that one.

Dystopian literature highlights social flaws. It enforces the acceptance of imperfection, and the questioning of social practice. The idea of a perfect world may be great, but the reality of it is not. Not only that but it goes to show that there is no such thing as perfect, and that perfection is overrated.

Exactly what is a dystopia? They are worlds of sameness, government control, and are full of dehumanized people. A few examples are The Hunger Games, The Matrix, and Divergent. Another important piece of literature that contains a dystopian society is Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. It takes place in a world where firemen burn books instead of putting fires out. The Hunger Games contribute to the sea of dystopian films, within this film social commentary is exposed in the gruesome scenes of murder preadolescents are forced to commit. In the dystopian film, the totalitarian nation of Panem is divided into 12 districts and the Capital. Each year two young representatives from each district are chosen to participate in The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games are televised throughout Panem and are used as part entertainment ,and as part retribution for a past rebellion. The 24 participants are forced to kill one another until there is one left. During this gruesome act the citizens of the Panem are forced to watch. Social commentary is shown throughout the whole movie as subtle evaluations of the society

A dystopia represents the polar opposite of a utopia. Indeed, it could even be considered a failed utopia, a failed ideal society. If one accepts this notion as fact, then it would lead to the logical conclusion that both must share some of the same characteristics. Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 portrays one such dystopia that has emerged throughout the ages clearly depicting characteristics such as conformity, isolation from external influences, and an apparent lack of poverty, misery, and war.
