My saint is Saint Francis de Sales. I chose Francis because he is the patron saint of the deaf. My mom is half deaf. He even created a sign language so a deaf man could hear about God. Another reason why I chose St. Francis is because my brother’s name is Francis. I enjoy reading books, and Francis was the patron of Catholic writers.
I can live like my saint by always choosing God. De Sales’s parents wanted him to become involved in politics. He chose to trust God. I can also live like my saint by guiding myself and others in the direction of God.
St. Francis de Sales was born in 1567. He was born on August 21st, in the King

Francis took his place as Bishop of Geneva. While saying a sermon, Francis met a widow named Jane de Chantal. Francis guided Jane, like the Holy Spirit guided the apostles. Francis made The Order of Visitation along with Jane, in 1610.
De Sales suffered because of his habit of working hard. He believed his work made him spiritually stronger. Francis leaded people to the direction of God. He also believed all Christians were to live holy. De Sales was the blueprint to the Second Vatican Council. They reteach Jesus’ scriptures.
The lay people received spiritual guidance from Francis. He made a book about guiding the lay. The book was called the “Introduction to the Devout Life.” In Francis’ opinion, the worst sin is to categorize someone. On December 28, 1622, Francis de Sales died from illness.
On April 19, 1665, Francis was officially declared a saint by Pope Alexander VII. He became the patron saint of catholic writers because of the books he wrote. He is also the patron saint of the deaf. January 14 is St. Francis de Sale’s feast
Giovanni Bernardone, more widely known as Francis of Assisi, was a Catholic friar that founded the Franciscan Order in the early thirteenth century. The Franciscan Order, under the spiritual guidance and teachings of Francis and his disciples, became one of the largest sects of the Catholic church today. Francis’ teachings brought about a reform in the Catholic church that changed ideas on grace and salvation of the Christian
Saint Francis of Assisi was born in Assisi, Italy in 1181. His mother named him Giovanni after John the Baptist, but his father did not want his child to be a ‘Man of God’
All of the saints lived virtuous lives and have inspired others with their stories. One saint's story that really stood out to me was, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton helped so many girls and some boys get an education. She also helped the Sisters of Charity stay loyal to God. Not only did she help the sisters and kids, but she trusted in God through every hardship and problem she faced, no matter how small. St. Elizabeth is important to me because I want to live my life the way she lived hers: never losing faith in God, but also helping as many people in the world as I can.
Saint Raphael's feastday is September 29th. He is the patron saint of many things including the blind, the bodily ill, the traveling, happy meetings, nurses, physicians,
Saint Rose of Lima had been a very divine person ever since she was born. Throughout her life, she had always dedicated herself to religion, prayer, suffering, and saving souls from purgatory. Rose always believed that although her life was very poor, there are always others out there who have it far worse. Thus with her loving compassion, Rose never hesitated to help the poor, the sick, or the weak whenever she came across them on the streets of Lima. This was what the moral of Rose’s life was based upon and dedicated to.
Instead of working Francis hid away deep in the mountains, as well as some old rickety old churches. He spent most of his days in poverty, and the only thing he did was worship god and help others see gods ways. Francis of Assisi died on October
A voice called his attention to the state of disrepair of his Church, and urged Francis to rebuild. Immediately went home, collected many expensive fabrics of his father's shop and sold at low price in the market town, and returned to the church where he had his revelation donating money to the priest, so that he would restore the building decadent. Upon learning that his father was enraged and ordered the seek. Frightened, Francis hid in a barn, where his friend brought him some food. After some time, decided to prove, and before the people of Assisi was accused of lazy and idle. The crowd took to the crazy and fun-stoning him. The father heard the commotion and retired to his home, but chained in the basement. A few days later his mother, out of compassion, he delivered him out of the chains, and Francisco was seeking refuge with the bishop. The father followed him and accused him sink his fortune, claiming compensation for what he had taken from his shop without license. Then, to everyone's surprise, Francis stripped all her beautiful clothes and laid them at the feet of his father, renounced his inheritance, asked the blessing of the bishop and left, completely naked, to start a life of poverty to the people, the which never retornou.4 5 the bishop saw this gesture a sign from God and became his protector for
Its said that this. This was the event said to have changed his perception of the way he lived, he craved a life that was different than the one he previously lived. This sparked Francis to travel to Rome and join the poor who begged at St. Peters Basilica. He would spend a lot of his time alone, praying to God for spiritual guidance and claimed to have a mythical vision in the chapel of San Damiano. As Francis left his hiding to face his father who didn't support his actions, he was scolded, beaten and locked away in a small cellar.
Francis spent his early years as the spoiled son of a merchant from the nouveau rich class. He was accustomed to violence and even went to war in a battle between Assisi and Perugia. This all changed later, as he become truly selfless. One of his friends noticed this sudden change in Francis and asked him, “Francis are you going to take a wife?” In response he said, “I will marry a nobler and fairer bride than you ever saw, who shall surpass all others in beauty and excel them in wisdom.” The lady he was referring to was Lady Poverty. He would go on to sell off all his possessions including his own horse and attempted to give the money to the decaying St. Damian Church which the priest would not accept. It is worth noting that the priest did not take the money because he found the change of heart within Francis startling. “The priest was amazed, and wondering at a change of circumstances incredibly sudden, refused to believe what he heard; and, thinking he was being hoaxed, he would not keep the offered money.” The skeptical reaction of the priest shows how radical and revolutionary Saint Francis’ generosity was, but also how rare a man like Francis was at a this point in
The saint I have chosen for Confirmation is Saint Catherine of Siena. Her feast day is April 29th. She is a patron saint of Italy, bodily ills, miscarriages, people judged for their piety, sexual temptation, sick people, nurses, and fire prevention. Saint Catherine of Siena even helped the poor and assisted the United States becoming peaceful. The reason I have chosen her is because when I’m older, I want to help people by becoming a nurse or something of that field, just like her.
I chose St. Bernadette because I felt like she did a lot for the Catholic community. She helped the people in her town have faith that God is real. When i was searching for a saint to do this project on, i saw that St. Bernadette was the patron saint of the Catholic Church. She was canonized in 1933. I believe that Bernadette was a very special saint because Mary picked her for a reason. Mary saw potential in her and knew that she would do great things for the
Giovanni attended the University of Paris from 1235-1243 and received a master of arts degree. He then studied theology with the Franciscan order from 1244-1248, who named him Bonaventure, which means good fortune
St. Francis of Assisi was born in Umbria in the year 1182. He was a child every father hoped for, he was filled with life, a determined and courageous individual. He was gifted with rather good looks, qualities that attracted friends and a gift of leadership. His father was an extremely wealthy merchant in Assisi. But this son, his favourite, was the one who broke Peter Bernardone’s heart. The boy turned on his father, and in a vicious event that eventually resulted into a public scene. St. Francis of Assisi stepped away from his father, his business and left his father in a state of immense emotional suffering.
Francis, was cautious about education such as his protégé possessed. He had seen too many theologians taking pride in their sophisticated knowledge. Still, if the friars had to hit the roads and preach to all sorts of people, they needed a firm grounding in Scripture and theology. So, when he heard the glowing report of Anthony’s debut at the ordinations, Francis wrote in 1224, “;It pleases me that you should teach the friars sacred theology, provided that in such studies they do not destroy the spirit of holy prayer and devotedness, as contained in the Rule.”
In “The Life & Times of St. Francis,” St. Francis was born in Assisi and was raised in a church going family. In his younger years, he enlisted into the military until he eventually came back to the church. He dedicated his life to Christ and the church in 1207 and ultimately became a friar, a deacon, and a preacher in his adult years. St. Francis believed in the gospel and worshipping God. In 1210, he was the founder of the Franciscan movement which was made up of orders about the teachings and spiritual disciplines of the founder, associates, and followers. Moving forward to 1212, St. Francis dedicated his life to preaching and
