St. Anthony of Padua is one of the Catholic Church’s most popular saints. Saint Anthony of Padua, patron saint of lost and stolen articles, was a powerful Franciscan preacher and teacher. He’s typically portrayed holding the child Jesus—or a lily—or a book—or all three—in his arms. Many people give alms to St. Anthony Bread in thanksgiving to God for blessings received through the prayers of St. Anthony.
St. Anthony of Padua’s life is what every Christian’s life is meant to be; a steady courage to face the ups and downs of life, the call to love and forgive, to be concerned for the needs of others, to deal with crisis great and small, and to have our feet solidly on the ground of total trusting love and dependence on God.
St Anthony is beloved throughout the world and is responsive to all people and all needs. His intercessory powers before our God are awesome.
Legends about Anthony abound. But let’s turn to the known facts

Francis, was cautious about education such as his protégé possessed. He had seen too many theologians taking pride in their sophisticated knowledge. Still, if the friars had to hit the roads and preach to all sorts of people, they needed a firm grounding in Scripture and theology. So, when he heard the glowing report of Anthony’s debut at the ordinations, Francis wrote in 1224, “;It pleases me that you should teach the friars sacred theology, provided that in such studies they do not destroy the spirit of holy prayer and devotedness, as contained in the Rule.”
Anthony first taught in a friary in Bologna, which became a famous school. The theology book of the time was the Bible. In one extant sermon by the saint, there are at least 183 passages from Scripture. While none of his theological conferences and discussions were written down, we do have two volumes of his sermons: Sunday Sermons and Feastday Sermons. His method included much of allegory and symbolical explanation of
Giovanni Bernardone, more widely known as Francis of Assisi, was a Catholic friar that founded the Franciscan Order in the early thirteenth century. The Franciscan Order, under the spiritual guidance and teachings of Francis and his disciples, became one of the largest sects of the Catholic church today. Francis’ teachings brought about a reform in the Catholic church that changed ideas on grace and salvation of the Christian
Antonio ponders whether there is a god and considers the ideas of spin and salvation. Rudolfo Anaya (1994) noticed that, “Ay, how true,” my mother said and clutched me tightly, “and what a sin it is for a boy to grow into a man” (Rodolfo Anaya, 1994, p.31). This supports the idea that Antonio's mother wants him to become a priest because his mother is a devout Catholic woman and wants his son to be saved by the gods of the religion. In chapter Catorce, it talks about how Anthony lost his innocence and approach to maturity. According to the author, Rodolfo Anaya, “And I remember my dream, and said that he would not enter the house of a naked woman, until I lost my innocence” (Rodolfo Anaya, 1994, p.31).
Anthony had been moderately rejecting his status as a wealthy elite before his parents’ death, it was not until they died that St. Anthony could begin his internal metamorphosis into asceticism. His parents’ death represents a “marker event” in his life, which Searle argues is important as they represent symbols that we associate with crises. It is important to note that for Searle, a crisis is an all-encompassing event that is thrust upon you, and changes your whole life. Given that one cannot choose when there is a crisis in their life, marker events represent points of symbolic significance which one can later associate with the beginning of a crisis, and the subsequent conversion journey that follows. While there were a confluence of factors that lead to St. Anthony beginning his journey into asceticism, his parents’ death will always represent an important marker event in his conversion
St. Ignatius of Antioch understood the Christian faith to be objective and sensible, stating that Christianity is fundamentally a religion based in historic, tangible realties . He was adamant to the fact that Jesus Christ was a real human with real flesh; he encountered real suffering and died a truly human death. Ignatius saw Christian faith and the person of Jesus Christ in such a way that it put him at odds with the Gnostics, who held to a Docetic Christology that was circulating widely among the Church. For Ignatius, this was a serious issue that needed to be addressed due to the purity of the faith and the truth it held. At stake was the validity of the incarnation, suffering, death, and resurrection of the person of Jesus Christ. If this is not real or true, Ignatius believed that man
Sts. Lucy, Catherine of Alexandria, Anthony Abbot, and Christopher with the Christ Child shows a characterization of the saints that can be deemed lively and personable. Each saint is depicted according to their own personalities. This can be especially seen through the individualization of Saint Catherine, who stands on a wheel, which is the symbol of her martyrdom, or through Saint Christopher 's walking stance, as he is the patron saint of travelers.6
My location that I chose was St Elmo, an abandoned town. It was abandoned for the mining use of it. The mines in the town as people say; it “dried up.” So now the town is classified as an abandoned town. The town of St elmo had a fire; the fire wipe out a few buildings. Since the town itself is a tourist attraction some locals who apparently still live in the town rebuilt some structures. The townspeople rebuilt the general store and one other building. The town has a few advantages for taking refuge there. Position of where the town is located makes it the perfect seclusion. There won’t be a lot of raids from well of course raiders. If an raider does come the people and the top 12 council members may hide in the mines. Whether of this location
She teaches him that the philosophical questions cannot be answered by one religion. The secondary theme in this novel is the influence of culture in one’s identity. When we are first introduced to Antonio, he is extremely curious and expects to find the answer to all of his questions with one religion. He mostly expects his Catholic religion to answer all his questions because an abundance of people have told Tony that after his first Communion, everything will make sense. However, after his first Communion, nothing happened, “A thousand questions pushed through my mind, but the Voice within me did not answer.

The image of St. Nicholas has been distorted throughout time and it is important to determine who St. Nicholas really was to best understand his current personification. The life of Saint Anthony was vividly pictured in the narration of his life by no other person than St. Athanasius. In St. Athanasius’ description of St. Anthony, he explored all areas where St. Anthony was modeled as a saint. In light of this, the thesis for this essay states that classical genres to which St. Athanasius modelled the Life of St. Anthony is autobiography/biography, mythology and adventures.
