The song “Magic” is by a Scottish rock band called Pilot. The band makes mainly pop rock and soft rock songs. Pilot is no longer active but were from 1973 to 2014. The band’s members were David Paton, Ian Bairnson, Billy Lyall, and Stuart Tosh. Their songs are usually made with vocals, guitars, pianos, and drums.
“Magic” was included in the album, From the Album of the Same Name. Just like most of the songs in the album, “Magic” is a slow rock song that has a catchy tune to it. It is the most popular song by Pilot and became one of the top five songs in Canada, the USA, and the UK in 1975, which was around the same time it was released in late July of the same year. Because of the song’s sudden success, it was introduced in many films
People often describe our magical place as though they memorised the words. And, while their minds fail to seize our friend's thoughts, the faithful night pours into his eyes its mellifluous melody. From thirty men who catch our furtive hands, always one person shall blow the whistle, and the lyrics follow no particular rhyme.
If you had to make a choice with nothing to choose from, how could you choose? Would your choice be the right decision since their is no guideline to your future? Listening to music can relieve stress and even a provide a guideline to the right choices. In the book The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton, the Curtis brothers and other greasers have difficult choices they encounter that relate their life to the song "Give Me Back My Hometown" by Eric Church. The song relates to the actions of the boys, the dreams the greasers have of becoming better, and the need to own the streets in their area.

Whiskey Lullaby is a song sung by Brad Paisley (ft. Alison Krauss) which narrates the story of a soldier coming back from war to find his wife in bed with another man. After this, the man drinks away his life trying to escape the pain until he commits suicide. Then the song continues to talk about how the woman follows down the same path after hearing about his death. In the end of the song they both get buried next to each other which symbolizes how they are finally together. The audience for this country song is those who have served or who have had family members serve. The unexpectedness of how life will figure itself out when the soldiers return. Also, how hard it is for families when their loved ones are out fighting, and they are
I actually went into Gracie's Song with pretty low expectations. I was very happy when it turned out to be an absolutely beautiful book. This novel follows the story of a girl name Gracie as she goes back to her home town. Her hometown is like many where once you go, you never leave. Gracie finally returns for a visit after her mother passes away. No one knows why she left: her sister, her best friend, even her childhood best friend/high school sweetheart doesn't know.
One of my favorite songs is, “Love Yours” by J. Cole. He is one of my favorite artists and his words are very lyrical. In this song, he is speaking as a first-person narrator. Jermain Cole AKA J. Cole was born in Frankfurt, Germany but moved to North Carolina when he was an infant. He credits Tupac as one of his major influences on his music. Growing up he didn’t have much but on his birthday, he asked his mom for a beat machine. He started out in producing music, but then used his rap on his own beats throughout high school. When he was fourteen, he had two mentors that gave him his stage name “Therapist” for his soulful flow and rhymes. After graduating high school, he moved to the Big Apple to attend St. John University on scholarships.
Dream on by Aerosmith connects to Santiago and his recurring dream in the beginning of the story starting on Page 6. Santiago deals with a recurring dream and he does not understand why he is having it. This dream occurs every time Santiago sleeps under a sycamore tree that grows out of the ruins of a church. In this dream a child tells Santiago to go after a treasure located by the Egyptian pyramids. Santiago is confused by the message of the dream and goes to a gypsy woman to try and understand the dream. She says that he should go to Egypt in pursuit of the treasure. This leads to Santiago meeting a magical man who turns out to be the King of Salem. He says that going to Egypt is Santiago’s personal legend and he should set off for his journey tomorrow. This journey leads to Santiago arriving in Tangier and a robber taking all of the money Santiago brought in his journey towards the Egyptian pyramids. This leaves Santiago by himself as he now has to find a way to push through adversity and get to his destination. Dream on is about following your dreams and aspirations in life by following your journey. “Dream until your dreams come true” is a line highlighted in the song that captures the purpose of following your dreams. It is about your want to be someone and to accomplish what you are supposed to in life. Santiago’s purpose is to follow his personal legend by following the good omens throughout the story and find his way to the Egyptian Pyramids. Santiago has to
In my opinion, Kendrick Lamar, an award-winning rapper and songwriter, has one of the best abilities to describe his distressed and abused lifestyle in Compton, California. He is not your original cliché artist who does not speak about anything meaningful. Kendrick, also known as K. Dot, is one of the most well known and most respected rappers in this era. Not only does he speak about his gloomy past, but he also speaks about his fortunate future. His ability to give detailed representations of his struggles and his story telling allows me to, metaphorically, enter the mind of Kendrick Lamar.
Ludacris does a remarkable job of portraying his message about the struggles that some adolescents are faced with. “Runaway Love”, by Ludacris, featuring Mary J. Blige (2007), represents the theme of struggle through hip-hop and rap music. It is about little girls who are “stuck up in the world on their own.” They have to take care of themselves because the people they are around do not care about them. They range from nine to eleven years in age, and their goal in life, at such a young age, is to run away from home. Ludacris is trying to get the listener to realize the struggles that even children have to face because adults are not the only ones who have problems, like most people believe. He is very successful in
Many songs that we listened to sounded like they came right out of Brave New World. The ones I liked most would have to be “Can't Feel My Face”, “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” and “I Am Produced”.
I have chosen a song entitled “Penthouse Cloud” sung by the band “The Internet” which was released in 2015. Based on the lyrics, there are a lot of significant linguistic foregrounding included in the song using the techniques of parallelism and deviation.
The Vietnam war was a major event to America because it had major conflicts with personal opinions of the people of 1960’s. In this era, plenty of people were rethinking on why they were fighting in a war that they did not need to be fighting. and joined the anti-war movement. This can explicitly be seen from the type of music that people were listening to at the time. The song that I am going to be analyzing is “Paint it Black” by the Rolling Stones. This song resonated with the persona of the people for multiple reasons because it was a song that was about losing a loved one and dealing with the sadness.
“We Found Love” is a popular song produced by Calvin Harris and features singer Rihanna. “We Found Love” reached the number one spot in the top charts in multiple countries in 2012 and the music video became popular very quickly after being filmed in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The music video features a young couple living in an impoverished council estate in West Belfast. Both characters portrayed in the music video are in their twenties and of mixed race, one parent being black and the other being Caucasian. Their relationship is distinguished by domestic violence as the couple is seen yelling, pushing and hurting one another, along with stealing from convenience stores, gambling and abusing drugs and alcohol together.
Many people think that the poem A Song, by Helen Maria Williams, is just a love letter when, in fact, it is more of an expression of her relationship with her inspiration of writing.
The song "The message" by Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five depicts the struggle of young black adults growing up in society. The struggle to make it out of poverty can be compared to survival of the fittest in a jungle. Only the strong would survive and adapt to the changes to fit in. Trying their best to make a betterment with whatever little society offers. Being a young black African American in the early 1980's was not easy. It was easier to live the fast life and gain fast money by being part of the drug community. Drugs, guns, and money was glamorized and this is what the young adults looked at as a means of getting rich. In the songs, a young man talks about how he is trying hard to hold on to the little bit of sanity he has left in his soul. He talks about the struggle he endures while trying not to get pushed over the edge. He was born an innocent child who's blind to the ways of mind kind. Growing up he faced many challenges and had to fight
