After reviewing my client’s case, I found a few things that caught me off guard. First, my client is coming to me confused and broken. He is coming to me after just being sexually involved with another young man, and has contracted HIV. The fact that my client currently has no health insurance is a huge issue. My first goal would be to connect him with an affordable healthcare program, so my client can get medical attention for his HIV. Code of Ethics 1.01 states, “Social workers’ primary responsibility is to promote the well-being of clients” (Code of Ethics, 1.01). HIV is a very serious virus that has detrimental effects, unless treated quickly.
While still promoting the well-being and safety of my client, I am a little curious about the relationship between the uncle and him. The case file mentioned that as a child, my client would visit his uncle often. These trips were always positive ones. It seemed the uncle was great at getting the family to do stuff together, but most of the time my client visited him alone. I have an interest in learning a little bit more of his uncle. How did they get

Because of this, it is critical for me to not only understand my own biases, but those of society. Society has many stereotypes of its own for gay males, and my client has most likely already experienced a few of those. It is important for me to help my client understand them and what it means to identify as LGBT. I would provide him with literature on the LGBT. I would give him literature on different programs for gay men. My job is not to push him one way or the other, but provide him with all the information and support possible for whatever decision he

If you were an avid sports player growing up; you have presumptuously dreamt about becoming a professional athlete. Living in that big house, playing in front of thousands and potentially millions, and earning that big salary not only for you, but everyone who helped you along the journey. Stephen Curry, a point guard for the Golden State Warriors has just attained a salary of $34,382,550. What the Golden State Warriors are paying Steph Curry may seem like an insurmountable sum of money, but what they pay him is returned in some form or another. Whether it be through ticket sales to see him play, jersey purchases, or just straight up publicity, Steph Curry earns that salary. According to bankrate.com, Curry’s net worth is $60,000,000, the
For this discussion, I chose the case study involving Marcus, a retired police officer at the age of 64. As he was ordered by the court to get into treatment, I would try to show understanding of the way he approaches me from the beginning. I think it is important to allow Marcus to feel comfortable and safe for him to begin sharing his ideas in a judgement free environment. As I am younger than my client, in order to be able to treat him, I would have been trained with this type of population first. However, it would be a good idea to consult with my mentor if any issue arises.
Chantel, a 28 years old young lady, who is suffered from some serious mental health issues for a long term, which influences her life heavily. She used to receive the medical treatment in hospital and she has been seeing some professionals in this clinic for about 6 years, additionally, she also had been on an Inpatient Treatment Orders (ITO). During this first session, Chantel expressed her worrisome about the privacy at the beginning, however, she would like to share her stories in a secure and confidential environment. After she felt comfortable and secure, she disclosed her mental health issues, life history, family background, living conditions as well as her social network, etc. She also explained in detail about the cause of her current troubles and her expectations in the future. Therefore, I, as a social worker in the Community Mental Health Clinic, just finished the first session with Chantel, will make a holistic
An insulin injection is used to control blood sugar in people who have type 1 or type 2 diabetes when the body lacks insulin production. Type 1 diabetes is when the body does not make insulin and cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood. Type 2 diabetes is when the body cannot produce or use insulin normally to lower the high blood sugar level. Insulin cannot be taken by mouth because it is a protein. The acid in the stomach would digest the insulin. An insulin injection stops the pancreas from producing more sugar and helps move the excess sugar from the blood to other body tissues where they can be used for energy. More than one type of insulin may be injected and is usually injected several times a day. Even though insulin helps
Casey’s parents both work full time and report having little free time. Training for PECs for the first phase is only about 2 days, (PCE site) much shorter than sign so they might consider the training. Presently they have to strain to hear her handful of word approximations or be led to what she wants, or needs. Her frustration and disgruntlement are due in part to not being able to make her needs known, which often results in meltdowns. Dealing with her behaviours must be time consuming for Casey’s parents and others (relatives, support worker, and etc.).
The client is currently dissatisfied with employment status because there is much to be done in taking care of her younger sister and at home with her other family. She also has no stable financial support besides the scholarship which makes things difficult for her.

The subject that I chose for this assignment is Robert. I have decided on Robert because he is family. I want to promote the significance of family health starting within my own family. I trust that by doing this that my whole family will perceive how significant movement is for our wellbeing and improve our inspiration to participate in such activities. As we have learned in the course, it is never past the point where it is impossible to begin to exercise.
There were several helping skills used in my case study that allowed me to properly assess and treat John and his family. The first helping skill I used was the family systems. As a human service practitioner, systems theory, permits me to take into account the entire “system” with which an individual interacts. This system allowed me to look at the entire dynamic of John’s case. John interacts on a daily basis with his parents, younger brother, new-born sister, teachers, and classmates.
Brief description of the client issues. The client was a 35 year old obese male who had been experiencing chest pain when engaging in physical activity. His doctor told him that he had high cholesterol and high blood pressure and thus high changes of suffering a heart attack if he did not do anything to change his health conditions. His diet includes: fast food at least once a day (high fat), little fruits and vegetables, high calorie dense foods such as cookies, muffins and pastries, and ice cream (when he is stressed out he sits in front of the TV and has a bowl of ice cream).
Scenario 1 Kate is a in her final year in the MSW program. She has a part time job as a waitress at a local restaurant and serves as an intern three days a week to enable her to have the accumulated required hours for field experience. Kate struggles financially and can barely afford the necessary text books or mandatory fees as she no longer qualifies for student loans due to her mother’s income; even though her mother does not assist her financially. Kate often complains she lacks motivation for her field placement because she feels overwhelmed with the day to day tasks at the field agency. She also complains about the distance between her job and the field agency which contributes to the cost for her to do her internship.
