The book Animal Farm is often considered to be based on the Russian revolution. In the book the animals free themselves from the dictatorship of evil farmers. In the beginning of the book the animals are fed up with the farmers and lead a revolt against the them. The end result was that the animals drove the farmers from the lank, freeing the animals to do as they pleased. The revolution was successful, but corruption sets in and by the end of the book, the animals are no better off than when they started. The book Animal Farm can also be compared to the Haitian Revolution. The Haitian Revolution and the revolution in the book Animal Farm are very similar, just with different end results. In the Haitian Revolution the end result was good. The Haitians revolted against their masters in 1791 and were independent and master free by 1804. They had fought long and hard and finally got their independence and are still a free country to this day. In the book Animal Farm, the story does not have such a happy ending. The animals in Animal Farm revolt against their human owners and lead a successful revolution. But they assign the wrong leaders. The pigs in the book are assigned as leaders of the farm and nobody really questions them. The pigs begin to change the rules and take all of the good food for themselves. The pigs have begun to enforce themselves with a band of vicious dogs that kill any animal that is considered to be a traitor. The animals are working harder and for less than they did with the original farmers. The pigs have become corrupt and are practically just as bad, if not worse than, the farmers were. The pigs made the animals back into slaves and the animals didn’t even notice it
