In the essay “Shooting Dad”, narrator Sarah Vowell uses juxtaposition as a medium to highlight the stark contrast between her father's interests and her own, but also demonstrates her persona by suggesting her decision to join her father’s passions. Her father, a gunsmith, is both physically and ideologically different from her music-obsessed self. Attempting to eat breakfast one morning, Vowell is forced to “move revolvers out of. [the].way to make room for a bowl of Rice Krispies on the kitchen table”. An innocent action, such as eating breakfast, is quickly spoiled by the corrupt presence of a firearm. Rice Krispies and revolvers side-by-side produce a juxtaposed image, affirming the extraordinary situation of being a gunsmith’s daughter.

Paragraph 1- NASA is using all the money they have to keep what they have right now up and running, but if we sell the older spacecrafts and satellites the private companies can keep them running and being worked on while NASA builds bigger and better things. In Brian Berger's article “With NASA Budget Cuts Looming, SETI Eyes Private Funding”, he says, “NASA's astrobiology budget, the source of most of that grant money, is facing a steep decline. Under NASA's 2007 budget proposal, currently before Congress, the U.S. space agency would spend $32.5 billion on astrobiology in the year ahead--half of what it spent on astrobiology in 2005.” (Berger, pg 1). My Rhetorical Analysis is on a issue that was covered in the local newspaper in the Fayetteville News&Observer (Across the country, school districts are quietly arming teachers for the next shooting). Now me myself am not a teacher but just looking at the news of school shootings it is a cause for concerns, people our to be more specific our children. This should cause us to want to seek solutions to this seemingly worsening problem. My children are grown but I have 21 grandchildren that are or will be entering the education system, I can’t say that I am comfortable with a teacher with a gun unless they have the proper training and back ground checks necessary by local state and federal law enforcement. Teacher have a differcult enough job
In the first section under “The Rhetorical Situation,” identifies what a rhetoric is. Rhetoric is defined as “using language effectively to persuade, inform, educate, or entertain.” The section also divided rhetoric into four key categories: the writer, the purpose, the audience, and the topic. Since I would be writing an argument for vaccination, it would do be well to learn how to write a persuasive essay, i.e. rhetoric. Also, this will help me identify when I come across rhetoric in my research, allowing be to take things with a grain of salt.
A renowned novelist and former imperial policeman, George Orwell, in his essay, Shooting an Elephant (1936), addresses the problems of imperialism. He argues that imperializing others, specifically Burma, will force the colonists to lose their own conscience and freedom. Orwell utilizes a variety of rhetorical elements throughout his essay to help bolster his claim. Firstly, Orwell uses first person perspective to showcase his experiences in order to establish his credibility. He then uses word choice to indicate his imperialistic sentiments and emotions. Lastly, he uses imagery to portray the pressure and emotions that were elicited while shooting the elephant. The purpose of Orwell’s essay Shooting an Elephant is to inform the reader about the inherent struggles that are engendered by imperialism. Orwell adopts a critical, subjective tone for his audience, the readers of his essay, anti-imperialists, and scholars studying imperialism.

Ortiz’s most effective mode of persuasion is ethos because of her ability to speak on the topic
Imagine a famous person making a commercial without any song??That would sound so boring, and not interesting. Of course you wouldjust hear the person talking about the information he is trying to say,but it won't grab's people's attention. For an example in 2003, whenApple unveiled its iTunes store, the Black Eyed Peas’ song “Hey Mama”was the first of the now-famous ad campaigns for the store. For the Peas, this business model has more than paid off, it made hem become morefamous. (Source 3) Artist music should be used in advertising, more peoplewill buy that product they are trying to advertise or will listen and pay attention. One reason why they should use music is because is because it calls people'sattention. As Robert reappeared, she found him dressed in faded blue denim jeans and a red and black checkerboard flannel shirt. At a casual glance, he seemed like the normal countryman prepared for an early morning camping trip, if it weren’t for the police utility belt clipped around his waist. He gripped the smooth, chestnut brown stock to a rifle. He returned to his seat and leaned it in the corner. Robert tilted his head towards the Winchester and asked, “Ever shoot
Judgment can be the the greatest plague of society. Judgment kripples acceptance, forward growth and blinds entire communities. Though in retrospect plagues are necessary, as is judgment. Without judgment humanity would be blind to people's character exposing them dangerous risks unstable people present. In The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne , Hester dealt with the judgment repercussions of adultery. Her sin caused society's judgment of her to rise and fall, in tandem producing negative and positive effects for Hester. Throughout the novel the Puritan community shifts their views of Hester. In Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, judgment that plagued Hester as a result of her sin evolved and shifted the communities views of her.
Why make false allegations of sexual attack happen? Hearing of false sexual allegations is sad to hear. Whenever somebody hears any sexual attack that had been taken in place in time makes anybody feel heavy-hearted. People can only imagine what the victim and the victim's family is going through. At what age can this happen? “males or females of any age, race, social class, appearance or sexual orientation.” Most likely from age twelve or older are rape or sexual assault each year. The time of year this mostly occurs is in the summer. There is an average of 293,066 victims each year. In light of, even when someone here, that the alleged sexual attacker was falsely accused just makes anyone feel melancholy. False allegations can follow you all your life, accusing someone of an attack can make them go into a depression, and allegations can prevent people from getting a job.
Charles Darwin broached the theory of natural selection in his book the Origin of Species, which has been considered the basis of evolutionary biology to this day. Natural selection is when populations of a species evolve over the course of many generations. Darwin believed that species were not created separately, but instead, species were derived from one another. In other words, the evolution of species creates many variations among creatures, and this is because all of those species came from a common ancestor, and characteristics changed to increase the species chance of survival.
