All of the men worked extremely hard to get back home alive, but three men stood out the most. Those three men are: Sir Ernest Shackleton, Frank Worsley, and Tom Crean. These men were definitely the most essential to the entire expedition, and took part in almost every single task executed.
After interviewing the CEO of Riley Robbins Films, and asking him about the importance of communication skills within his company, I had a better understanding of what the expectations that a company has, when adding a new member to his team. Overall, I am part of his team, and his top manager. Over the last decade, employer surveys have consistently shown that strong communication skills are critical to effective job placement, performance, career advancement, and organizations success. In making hiring decisions, employers often rank communication skills among the most desirable competencies;(Business Communication 8th Edition, Ch.1 pg. 4). Julia Stewart is a very successful business woman. She identifies the significance of crediting employees for their work and thereby increasing their morale. I would love to work for Julia Stewart in a management position. I have held a few jobs in the health care setting. Only two of those positions can I honestly say that I really enjoyed my job. Looking back to those jobs I enjoyed best, I discovered most of my supervisor’s management traits were similar to Ms. Stewart’s. Rarely is a person trained to perform a job perfectly after being hired on a new job. All employees including management must undergo a training period before they are proficiently effective.

To be an affective sales manager at Phoenix, Mrs. Richardson needed to be able to bring together this group of insubordinate employees who seemingly did not work well as a team. Of these employees, only a few had been meeting or exceeding expectations of the organization. More so the attitudes of the employees were so far from acceptable that there is question as to why they held the positions that they did. Alex Hoffman, top sales representative, showed little respect for Mrs. Richardson, however as he consistently brought in sales he was not a candidate to let go. Although, Mrs. Richardson still should have had a discussion with Mr. Hoffman about his actions and the fact that when other employees perceive his disrespect then they may in turn do the same. On top of that, Sarah Vega continuously showed up for work late and even missed one day per week on average. These actions are unacceptable in the workplace and worthy of termination. A third employee, Chelsea Peterson, showed absolutely no respect for her new sales manager. These sorts of actions do not deserve to go unnoticed or unpunished. Melissa Richardson should have scheduled a mandatory meeting for all employees in order to lay down the law. She needed to tell them all together as a team exactly what her expectations for
Written in 1843, The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe incorporates nearly all of the gothic elements. While this piece of art may not contain all of the gothic elements, it is the epitome of a gothic short story. In The Tell-Tale Heart, the setting seems to be inside an old house, which strengthens the atmosphere of mystery and suspense. The madness and overall insanity of the narrator illustrates the sense of high, overwrought emotion. The presence of creaking hinges and the darkness represent the metonymies of gloom and horror throughout the story. Sustaining the atmosphere of the gothic, the appropriate vocabulary also maintains the atmosphere of suspense, the overwrought emotion, and the metonymies of gloom and horror. In combination, the elements that are utilized in this short story create a gothic masterpiece and each element individually influences the plot of The Tell-Tale Heart.
