Thinking, have you ever turned blind eyes to many of the world's problems? Imagine this, standing in front of a hotel and you notice two men with a child. The child looks gloomy, and seems to be glancing around in hopes of something special to happen. With the quick exchange of money, a deal was done and the child follows their new trafficker, that’s when you’ll notice human trafficking.It’s everywhere, and we can try to make a difference. If we can find ways to prevent human trafficking and help the victims, I’m sure things may get better. The big question that we all wonder about, how do traffickers get their victims? Since victims go to many places within their career as a sex slave, traffickers hold onto their passports, making it illegal for them to be there. Because of this, victims cannot leave their traffickers unless they want to be found there illegally and arrested by the police. Traffickers also have a bond with the victims, these bonds is to keep the victims with them and crush any thought of victims running away from them. The bonds between traffickers and victims matter greatly, because it’s what forces victims to continue their undesired sexual work. There are multiple types of bonds, one of the common bonds are dependant on debt. The victims with a debt bond are forced to do sexual work to pay off travel and care fees for the trafficker. Another type of bond is surrounded by false affection.This bond is where the trafficker pretends to care for the victim, making them seem important to the trafficker, and the victim blindly accepts the false affection. A third bond is what I call a “threat” bond. The trafficker would threaten the victims, saying that they will kill the victims families, or friends, if they run away, and if they are caught running away they may be killed. This nation was once a disaster, this place was where traffickers sold children out on the streets and where foreigners bribed unaware street kids into trafficking. Basically, it was once a gigantic trafficking mess, but the reformation of the nation made it seem unbelievable, it’s now a nation where there is barely any trafficking. Almost everyone in Cambodia contributed to the effort to reform the nation, and now there are even harsh laws against traffickers. The nation also went a step further and designated anti-trafficking police to ensure safety. So, wherever you look in Cambodia there are no children being sold or victims being bought in the red light districts. As you can see, if nations all strive to make a difference we can change the continuous cycle of human sex trafficking. Human trafficking is everywhere and whatever we do, it won’t go away, but we can help to change it. We can do whatever is possible, like giving support to freed victims and doing our best to prevent human sex trafficking. By realizing that human trafficking is worldwide and that the victims want freedom, that has motivated many of us to try and help the victims of human trafficking.
