Sex trafficking, the selling of women to traffickers and pimps to become sex slaves in an illegal matter, have become the norm for girls/women in countries such as Turkey. In Ukraine, trafficking is one of the largest markets for the old Soviet Black. Every year, thousandths of women are being taken from their lives and family to be sold into enslavement. These women are victims of a multi-billion-dollar international business. In the documentary, “Sex Slaves”, an observation was done to see and understand how trafficking works through the stories of different women. The documentary consists of the story of 5 women, Tania, Eva, Anya, Katerina, and Katia, whose husband is willing to do anything to get her back. These 5 women had one thing in …show more content…

Katia who was 4 months pregnant, was sold by Vlad, a man that she and family thought they could have trust, to a violent sex trafficker named Apo. Vlad had her believing that he was willing to help her by merchandises for the business that her and husband owned. Viorel, her husband, worked with Frontline and to the went out of his to make sure that his wife comes back home. Katerina and Anya were both tricked by Olga and was sold to pimps to become a prostitute. Both women were able to escape their tragic torture. Tania needed money so can pay her brothers medical bills. She was told that she would work as a nanny in Turkey by this couple, but unfortunately for her, it was just another trap. She was able to escape, but sadly she ended up returning to Turkey to be a prostitute because her brother got extremely sick. She ended getting deported back to Ukraine from Turkey. Lastly, Eva moved from Hungary to Canada believing that she was going to work as a housekeeper, but because she didn’t speak English she signed a contract to become a striper that would be kept in a motel room to get raped by different men. She was able to escape because of a club manager. All these women suffered severely, getting raped, beaten, drugged and so on for a short period time, but it is something that they will never forget.
