Mahatma Gandhi once said, "To find yourself, lose yourself in the service of others." This is something that I thoroughly believe in. The act of giving brings genuine happiness, and you should expect nothing in return. However, the act of giving often creates an endless ripple that comes back to you. This has been proved time and time again in my lifetime.
What is the purpose of living? Very often, I ask myself this question. Last year, the Sec Two cohort had to volunteer for an organization for our community education experience. My group decided to volunteer at IJHCC (The Infant Jesus Homes and Children’s Centre), which provides shelter for children in need of protection and care. I really enjoyed taking care of the children and helping
While enrolled in Existence and Reality, a course offered at Allan Hancock College, I was tasked to reflect on my beliefs concerning the seven most prevailing philosophical questions; what is life, what is death, is there a God, is there life after death, why is there so much evil and suffering in the world, and what is the good life? Due to my religious beliefs, I am certain that there is a God, but when talking about the concept of life, I found myself questioning what my purpose was. I have always had a calling to help
"Nearly every moment of every day we have the opportunity to give something to someone else - our time, our love, our resources. I have always found more joy in giving when I did not expect anything in return." --- S. Truett Cathy, Chic-Fil-A founder
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others" Gandhi. I always like to volunteer and join charitable events because their benefits are numerous. For example, volunteering let me meet a wide range of people from different backgrounds and this helped me to enhance my character, improve my social skills, and make me a better citizen. In addition to that, volunteering let me embraces new experiences and knowledge. When I went to a high school in the United States in 2013; I was selected to be a member of the 'National Honor Society’.
We should go with the flow and help others. We should always be selfless and giving because at the end of the idea that’s the most fulfilling. To conclude, “The more they do for others, the more they have. The more they give to other the more they possess.” (Ivanhoe, Chapter
In Christianity, the purpose of this life is to better your relationship with God and to know Him better. This is also proven in Job 22:21 that if you align yourself with God and are in harmony with that relationship that you will receive good things in this world.
Every person on this earth has a great purpose they are going to fulfill throughout their life. I believe my purpose here is to serve God for what he is calling me for. It took a while to know that he was calling to me to become a nurse, and every day that goes by
When we study social psychology, we will learn the concept of altruism and egoism. They are a pair of antonym. The definition of altruism is “principle or practice of concern for the welfare of others” and the definition of egoism is “an excessive or exaggerated sense of self-importance.” We can help other people while taking care of ourselves. However, helping others still waste our time and energy. Although a very small help such as telling strangers the direction of places still consume our time. Therefore, helping is a kind of costing and we want the return. Return can be spiritually and materially. For materially return, people will expect substantial return. For example, you help your colleague because you want him to help you when you
Give when you can. If you can spare a few dollars, give. If you can spare some time and energy, then give that. Giving doesn't just help other people feel better about themselves and impact how they behave in the world, it also affects you and how you behave in the world. When you know you have something to give and don't, you will put yourself into a lower energy state of guilt or shame and that's not going to benefit anyone in this world.
Also, with the cost being free and a guaranteed auspicious outcome of making the recipient happy, donation appears as a must do. Sir Isaac Newton knew donation would be both beneficial to the giver and receiver because he stated, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” Additionally, this affects all who are too attached to objects rather than people. The act of giving can be done in a wide variety of places such as local churches, soup kitchens, and more. Donation can change the evil because when one gives they begin to appreciate how fortunate they are. With the increase in greed and a want for more items or goods, resulting in a materialistic society, it encourages people of all ages to focus more on people rather than items. If one thing can be taken away from this remember, “It’s not about the materialistic things you have. It’s about the good person you are. No one will remember you for what things you had, but how you made them feel.” Even though the speaker is also unknown, one should try to leave an impact on others and focus on the good in people rather than
“We are healed to help others. We are blessed to be a blessing. We are saved to serve, not to sit around and wait for heaven.”Rick Warren. Purpose could be categorised into three parts personal, social and societal. Personal purpose is the feeling of gratification through doing the things that one loves or desires. Social purpose is the act of bringing people together for peace or reconciliation. Societal purpose is the act of being selfless and sacrificing something for others or something. Many has their opinions on existence, most define it quite literally. Some says existence is when something belongs in this world, while some suggests that it’s existence if something “is” or “is the case.” I do believe that my existence contributes to
Over seven billion people roam this planet searching. Looking for a purpose or a reason for why they are where they are. The actual probability of existing today is one in four hundred trillion. That 's a miracle. So what is our purpose and why us? According to Market Wired about 53% of the human population considers themselves happy, so why is one of the most googled questions “how to be happy?”? All of this started to strike a chord with me so I decided to dig deeper and try and answer some of my own questions.
What is the point of living if I don’t find a meaning to it, or I place where I fit, someplace I can call home or escape… what is the point of living?
Gandhi said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” If there is one thing in my life that I absolutely could not live without it would be helping others. The act of giving to others and helping people out is what fuels my life. It is what gets me out of bed in the morning. That being said, if I could only do one thing for the rest of my life it would be helping others whether through volunteering, working, donating, or by other means. I want to have a positive influence on others. Service learning projects and volunteering are excellent ways to accomplish my goal. I want to help people and enlighten them to the bliss of giving back. It is sad that hate and selfishness get advertised seemingly more than kindness and love.
Giving back is a duty that everyone should do in their life. It can help those who need it most. Not only does it help out a person, it can help you find and understand yourself as an individual more clearly. I believe the best way to find yourself is through serving others because it brings you closer to the community, helps you understand how other people live their lives, and can show you how to be a better person. Serving others can bring you closer to the community. While doing community service projects, you can meet a large amount of people whom you may have never met before. Meeting new people can show you how many other people interact with each other. By seeing this, you may figure out more about the role you play in your
