I began my scouting career in Cub Scouts in second grade, starting with Pack 100 in New York City. I quickly progressed through the ranks up to Bear, but then I moved to a farm in Upstate New York. I quickly found a new pack, Pack 11. There I participated in all the outings and finished out my ranks, earning every possible belt loop and earning my Arrow of Light award. After that I bridged into Troop 11.
The troop pushed its scouts to rank up quickly, so I was able to earn First Class in just six months. I continued earning Merit Badges, going on campouts, holding leadership positions and earning my ranks up to Life. I moved to Menlo Park California after that and joined Troop 222, my current troop. There I worked to complete all my Eagle

I have narrowed down my career options to either something in engineering, like architecture, or being a music worship director for a church. My current school classes and extracurriculars line up with these careers. In the Fall, when I start sophomore year, I will be taking a very in depth engineering course to learn more about the profession. I also take regular piano and guitar lessons along with playing piano at my church’s Middle School and High School youth groups as part of the worship band. Since I am homeschooled, I do not participate in activities with my school, but I do many activities outside of school. I am part of SOLO swim team. I also take golf lessons at the Stanford University Golf Course. I am very active in my Scout troop, attending all meetings and outings possible. Finally, I participate in numerous different programs through my church, Menlo Church.
I also have many plans after High School and graduation. I plan to continue my education by going to college for likely another four years, instead of joining the workforce immediately. I want to go to college so I can expand my knowledge and also so I can get a better job. In college I plan to continue swimming probably on my college’s club team. I will also want to find a college youth group to participate in. Obviously, my college decision and activities in college will differ greatly depending on what profession I choose, but those things are very important to
My goals are to graduate high school and get to college. I want to go to college because I don’t want to live paycheck to paycheck. I want to live comfortably and not worry about financial problems. I also want to go to college to explore and experience new things that Hawaii doesn’t have to offer.
You probably don’t know this about me, but I used to be an eagle scout. And in order to be an eagle scout, you have to do things like go camping. And over the summer, my troop would like to travel about six hours north of Milwaukee to a place called Camp Lefeber, where we would camp in the wilderness for several days. About ten to twenty other scout troops from around Wisconsin would meet us there, and there were no cabins at the camp grounds. Instead, we slept in tents. My first year at camp, my friend, Matthew, and I had just the minimum age requirement to go: twelve years old. And, being the good friends that we are, we decided to share a tent for the time we were at camp. It’s not weird. We were in the wilderness. We shared for survival.
Yorkville Cub Scout Pack 350 is a local chartered organization which provides the community with volunteer opportunities and Boy Scout lessons for local children. This organization provides age appropriate lessons on various scouting and life lessons, such as camping, sports, safety, religion, morals, respect, and survival. These lessons are taught through meetings which are organized by age group, focused solely on children who are aged First Grade through Fifth Grade.
Being a Girl Scout from kindergarten until the end of middle school has taught me various life skills. Firstly, it has taught me the importance of teamwork. Through various projects and activities, my troop and I have worked together in achieving any goals set by our leaders and other members of our community. This experience has also taught me life skills that can help me as an individual, such as first aid and how to deal with children. My mother was a troop leader for girls in grades third through fifth, excluding me from the eighth grade, and I acted somewhat as a co-leader for my mum when the actual co-leader was unavailable. I set up crafts and helped the younger girls with badges that I had already gotten in the
In Boy Scouts I held the position of Quarter Master, placing me in charge of our troops equipment. My first few years in scouts we used old cooking boxes that were falling apart and lacking the supplies needed for cooking. I arranged to build new cooking boxes that would be sturdy and fit the patrols stove inside. I developed an organized system for assigning items to patrols so that they would have working equipment that they needed. Two years later, an adult recognized me and thanked me for my contribution and informed me that the boxes are still in use.
Rather than being lead by the older scouts, it was me and my friends who began to run the troop. The ones that I had looked up to had mostly left, and, almost seemingly without warning, it was our turn to lead, and mentor the new scouts. I was a troop guide, then an Assistant senior patrol leader, and then the quartermaster. All the while, I continued on my own to advance steadily through the scouting ranks. However, with these greater responsibilities, came greater enjoyment to be had out of scouting. We went to summer camps, high adventure camps, and dozens of troop-sponsored camping trips. I was nominated for, and accepted into, the Order of the Arrow, the Honor Society of Scouting. After being nominated by my Troop, I participated in a service project where we slept under the stars, followed by a period of silence and
While in high school I plan to maintain a 3.5 GPA or greater while staying involved and prospering in the sports and activities I practice. In the winter I plan to go to State in Knowledge bowl and go to State and possibly the National DECA tournament as well. The success in these activities will lead colleges and companies to be more attracted to me so I can later get jobs easier and get scholarships to reduce college debt later. While in high school I am also planning to establish a free speech organization to promote overall knowledge and understanding of others while
Before the first meeting, my mother described the organization to me. When she described the cub scouts, I was excited until she revealed something I did not expect. She told me that most of the kids had joined the program as tiger cubs when they were six, but since I was an eight year old that I would be joining as a bear cub. I did not like the idea of becoming an outsider again since it
The Scout Executive of Southern Missouri presented me with a medal and a badge. The award recognized the accomplishments and requirements that an Eagle Scout fulfills. I accepted the award and took my seat. Once the applaud of my fellow scouts and friends died down, I thanked everybody for coming to recognize my accomplishment of becoming an Eagle Scout. I continued to express my gratitude to all the leaders and parents that made my time as a Boy Scout some of the best times I spent in the outdoors. I reflected over the many campouts I took when I was younger and did not yet possess the skills or the equipment that I have since gained. I concluded my speech by thanking the business that sponsored my final service project.
Being in the scouts have taught me lots of things. They have taught me life skills that I can use in the real
In Boy Scouts the new troop will always do a campout for the new scouts that is relatively easy for them, and is there to introduce new members to the people that are leaders and other administrators. I joined a few weeks early that winter and joined the other scouts at Camp Emerson. Camp Emerson, in the winter is a cold place with up to three feet of snow. When I took my first trip with the scouts, there was a record amount of snow. I slept in a tent that we had to dig out of the snow a few mornings, then hiked our way to the frozen lake to learn not only about surviving but prospering in the harshest conditions with little to no gear. This was one of the most insightful and miserable experience of my life, but to this day I’m proud that I thrived at the event made for boys four year my senior, and earned the respect of those same boys. While I loved the Boy Scouts it was time for my family to move out of California to a more rural community. After this momentous change I was disappointed to find no active Boy Scout community near my new location. I have continued my work with the Backcountry Horsemen, but my new chapter is far less active than my
All across America, young men join together in a special organization called the Boy Scouts of America. Scouts from 1st grade to seniors in high school work toward a common goal: growing up into a functional, mature citizen and leader of the United States. I joined this great organization in 2006 as a Wolf Cub Scout and rose through the ranks to get into Boy Scouts in 2010. I didn’t know what to expect from such a widely popular, military-like group. Will I get pushed to my limit? How much can Scouts impact me? Is Cub Scouts like what others say?
For my service-learning project I had two choices of being able to serve the Arkansas City Public Library or the South Wind Quivera Cub Scouts Pact 328. I will be choosing the service under the South Wind Quivera Cub Scouts Pact 328 to reflect on. The main purpose for Cub Scouts is to prepare them for Boy Scouts. The Cub Scout organization has an age group of seven to ten years old. As far as social issues the Cub Scouts address civic responsibility. Overall the Cub Scouts organization encourage helping develop boy’s character and their participation within the community.
My goals for after high school, is to got to Greenville Tech. I have different ideas of what I want to do for my career. I have a lot of plans after high school career-wise. My goal for sure, is to finish college, but there is so much to study,
