This documentary was a brief overview of the very complex series of events that occurred on the French colony of San Domingue in the late 1700’s. The main argument made throughout the documentary was that the Haitian revolution was the first successful colony to instill a ban against discrimination based on the color of a person’s skin. This documentary states that San Domingue, known today as Haiti, had one of the most successful revolutions, as it generated hope for future slaves around the world. The primary sources incorporated throughout the documentary were well presented and effectively referenced in order to clearly emphasize the main problems and/or issues presented at each progression of the revolution.
