Introduction
The issue of whether to allow same-sex marriage in America is a controversial topic that is heavily debated upon. In my opinion, I feel that same-sex marriage should be allowed. This is due to several reasons. The right to marriage is an important civil right that should be allowed for same-sex couples, and this is so from a deontological standpoint as well. Marriage is able to bring about many positive benefits for same-sex couples and their families. Also, same-sex marriage has received support from many religious leaders. Furthermore, it does not have negative consequences on the institution of the American family, and could even have positive consequences. From a consequentialist point of view, it should be allowed too. In

This restricts rights that they should deserve and enjoy. In 1967 the US Supreme Court unanimously confirmed in Loving v. Virginia that marriage is “one of the basic civil rights of man”. From a deontological standpoint, the upholding of human rights would be seen as morally right, and hence it is necessary to uphold the human right to marry for same-sex couples as well.
Same-sex couples should be treated equally
Secondly, not allowing same-sex couples to marry is a discriminatory act and serves to form a second class of citizens. According to Miami-Dade County Circuit Court Judge Sarah Zabel, the denial of marriage to same-sex couples “serves only to hurt, to discriminate, to deprive same-sex couples and their families of equal dignity, to label and treat them as second-class citizens, and to deem them unworthy of participation in one of the fundamental institutions of our society." In the history of America, there have often been different cases of discrimination, such as those based on gender, race, physique etc. Denying marriage is another form of discrimination that is based on sexual orientation and sex. A deontologist would not condone discrimination of any kind considering that discrimination is morally wrong. Whether one is a homosexual or heterosexual, I believe it should not make a difference to their entitlement of equality and rights. Same-sex couples are fellow
Same-sex marriage should be marriage because everyone is equal, love is always right, and people have a right to choose their own soulmates. First, equality is a basic right, which means everyone should get the same treatment. The restriction against same-sex marriage is an offense to the dignity of lesbians and gays, because it limits the range of relationship options open to them (Mello). The limit of same-sex marriage is against homosexuals to enjoy the same right as heterosexuals. It is not fair for homosexual to get the different treatment. There is a law to declare that legalizing homosexual marriage is to achieve the basis of equality come true. (Albertson).
The United States of America was founded as a secular sanctuary for ideals like freedom, equality, and tolerance – few will argue against that. Over its history American culture has radically evolved as it strived to meet the ideals its nation was based upon, making changes like ending slavery and providing legal equality for women and minorities, changes that at the time seemed absurd but today are unquestionable merits that define what an “American” is. The quest to reach the ultimate utopian society continues today as true Americans fight the evils of ignorance, stubborn bigotry and the fear to change that still manifest themselves in a large portion of U.S. citizens, preventing this nation from moving forward. One of the outstanding minorities still left to be granted the ideals of freedom, equality, and tolerance are homosexuals trying to obtain the right to marry the person they want to spend the rest of their life with, regardless of gender. Same-sex marriages should be recognized in the eyes of the U.S. government in accordance with its responsibility to provide all American citizens equal freedoms.
Exodus 7- 14 begins with Yahweh’s people under the authority of Pharaoh and Pharaoh won’t let them go. Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Moses’ brother, Aaron, and told them to tell Pharaoh to let His people go. Throughout the chapters, Yahweh will strengthen Pharaohs heart letting His signs and wonders multiply throughout Egypt. The land of Egypt will experience many acts of judgements resulting in death and in the freedom of Yahweh’s people.
China’s One Child policy is a policy that the Chinese government introduced in 1979 to try and solve the problem of overpopulation. The Policy’s main purpose was to make sure that China could support its large population with facilities such as healthcare, education, housing, good jobs and most importantly, food. The aim was to reduce poverty and to improve overall quality of life for the people. China’s one-child policy has led to unintended and negative consequences, such as a diminishing labor force, an aging population, the neglect of basic human rights, and an unbalanced sex ratio gender population. To improve China’s situation, the policy should be reversed.
Session Notes: Erin and Phil had been married for approximately a year. Erin grew up in a Christian home and has been a regular church attendee most of her life. She has been a foreign exchange student in Germany. When she returned, the public schools refused to accept her credits and wanted her to repeat her senior year of high school. This action prompted her to get her GED.
Same-sex couples should have access to the same marriage benefits as heterosexual couples. Prohibiting same-sex marriage is unconstitutional discrimination.
It is true that marriage in this nation traditionally has been regarded as a relationship exclusively between a man and a woman, and many of our nation’s multiple religions define marriage in precisely those terms. But with the Supreme Court has always previously considered marriage in that context, the underlying rights and liberties that marriage embodies are not in any way confined to heterosexuals. One’s sexuality is not a preference, it is immutable, unchangeable, and the Constitution protects us all against prejudices and discrimination based on immutable differences. Not only is not allowing same-sex couples to marry discriminatory, it also makes gays second class citizens. When we as a nation refuse to accord the same marital status to gays and lesbians, we discourage same-sex couples from forming the same relationships we encourage for others, and we are essentially telling gays, those of who love them, and society as a whole that their relationships are less worthy, less legitimate, less permanent and less valued. By not legalizing same-sex marriages the US demeans their relationships and demeans gays as individuals. Same-sex marriages must be legalized.
Although many conservatives were and are still opposed to same-sex marriages, the struggle for marriage equality in America focuses on the right to marry. The United States Supreme Court in Obergefell v. Hodges (2015) ruled that same-sex couples are guaranteed the fundamental right to marry by the Equal Protection Clause and the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Therefore, legalizing same-sex marriages would be good for America as it would spur equality, promote family stability and validate LGBT family units as well as increase the number of children successfully adopted.
One of the fundamental parts of the 14th Amendment is its defense of the peoples’ right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” If marriage is restricted to heterosexual couples, then it is an obstruction of gay citizens’ rights to pursue happiness. Many gay citizens cannot be completely happy until they can marry the one they love. In Texas, a ban on same-sex marriage was struck down by federal judge Orlando Garcia. His reason behind fighting this ban was that it “conflict[ed] with the United States Constitution's guarantees of equal protection and due process.” Moreover, as demonstrated in the 1967 Supreme Court decision that banning interracial marriage is unconstitutional, the government cannot decide who citizens can marry. There is also an element of sexism to the disallowance of same-sex marriage as it is discrimination on the basis of gender to stop a marriage because one party is of the “wrong” gender. Therefore, it is a blatant violation of the 14th Amendment’s “equal protection” guarantee to create laws against gay
As we know, same-sex marriage has been a prominent issue that has so many arguments not just in the United States, but around the world over many years now. There is absolutely nothing more controversial than same-sex marriage in gay rights topic. Everyone has different opinions about same-sex marriage whether it should be legal or not. We now have to consider two aspects that are moral and religious. These two form a fundamental belief that same-sex couples and opposite-sex couples are different. Based on the definition of marriage, the view of religion, bad effects to children, and the lifestyle that should not be encouraged; therefore, the government should not legalize the same-sex marriage.
Nowadays, the same-sex couples have the right to marry under the constitution, just like any the straight couples, however, on the other hand, the opponents have different beliefs. Most their objection comes from religiosity and conservative backlash. These people believe that a real marriage is between a man and a women, if it comes from two people with same gender, it does not only destroy the norm of traditional marriage and violates natural law, but also oppose the Bible. However, the marriage definition is not about making sex, because it is totally about love. Both the traditional marriage and same-sex marriage are beyond the different religions, philosophies, education levels, financial backgrounds, careers, passions, hobbies, skin colors, so if people love someone enough, they should have the right to marry the one they love. In addition, the same-sex marriage does not against any religions, because all of religions spread
The concept of marriage is in danger of being misunderstood due to same-sex couples wanting to be married and acquire the same benefits as heterosexual marriages. The fundamental purpose of marriage is uniting a man and a woman in a worthy cause to preserve human civilization. If everyone was homosexual, then how could our species be repeatedly produced? This problem could end human existence. Besides, even those who are not homosexual have restrictions on marriage so they can not assume they are being discriminated upon. Restrictions are created to keep the balance and concept of the idea from being muddled. Their sexual orientation has nothing to do with why these rules were put into place. As a result, homosexual individuals have the right to marry along with everyone else as long as the restrictions are not crossed. All rights are equal among the people even when dealing with marriage. Just because somebody has different
As we know, same-sex marriage has been discussed and argued for a long time. Within the controversial topic of gay rights, there’s no area more controversial than same-sex marriage. And all of us ask ourselves if same-sex marriage should be legal or not. But the fact is that we have to start thinking about it as a moral and religious topic. The government shouldn’t legalize the same-sex marriage because the
First, it can clearly be seen that same-sex marriage is primarily about equality. Everyone has equal rights and liberties to chase happiness, as long as it does not cause harm to the society, so why should their freedoms be limits? Why can’t someone be able to marry a person they truly love? Discrimination and banning homosexual couples to get married violates human rights and freedoms. Laws which against gay marriage deny the First Amendment which states that everyone has freedom of speech, expression and religion. Sexual determination is an option, so it is how some people can express themselves.
Same sex marriage became legal on June 26th, 2015. So, why is there still discrimination? It’s legal, right? The discrimination against homosexual athletes in American sports is out of control and needs to be changed immediately. How would people feel being looked down upon being one of the only openly gay athletes in the United States? Before 2014 there was not any openly gay athletes currently playing professional sports in the United States. This shows the fear humans have when it comes to being honest about their sexuality because they know what the general public thinks about it. Discrimination is inhumane, especially when it comes to peoples beliefs. Sixty-five percent of females in the WNBA are homosexual, but are not discriminated against compared to the way male athletes are. Many gay athletes do not come out about their sexuality until after retirement because they fear what others will think.
