In recent years, same-sex marriage has become a more controversial topic on whether it’s right or wrong. People should not feel coerced to agree with something they believe is wrong; clearly, same-sex marriage is immoral and unnatural. Many complications come with same-sex marriages including financial pressures, social pressures, moral pressures, and health risks. Many people believe in a traditional marriage between a man and a woman. God created man and woman to be faithful and produce children. Same-sex marriage is contrary to the word of God and the laws of nature; therefore, it is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups. Many biblical scriptures talk about how immoral same-sex marriage is. For example, Leviticus 18:22 states, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination”. Marriage is a privilege, not a right. It is not correct to redefine marriage away from the original meaning. Although it may have been a questionable business decision at the time, the founders of Chick-fil-a took a stand on their Christian beliefs and close on Sundays allowing their employees to spend time with their families and attend church. They also created a media frenzy by taking a stand against same-sex marriage with the surprising outcome that the normal population showed extreme support for them. It was extremely difficult and took quite some time to successfully legalize same-sex marriage in every state. After

The debate on whether or not homosexuals should be allowed to marry has been ongoing for quite a long period of time. While quite a number of viewpoints have been advanced in support of gay marriage, there are those who feel that legalizing the same would be wrong from both a moral and spiritual perspective. Currently, homosexual marriages are illegal in a majority of states. Although the debate on whether or not gay marriage should be legalized persists, I am of the opinion that legalizing the same would cause damage to both our moral and spiritual fabric.
This essay debates the issue of same sex marriage in the United States. It considers the pros and cons and examines the constitutional issues involved.
Same-sex marriage, a controversial social issue in the U.S. for several decades, is constantly evolving. When viewed historically, great change has happened in a short period of time, in the movement for same-sex marriage, given that until recently, no society in thousands of years has ever allowed it.
Same-sex marriage at this time one of the most debated political issues in our nation. The controversy over same-sex marriage is a very touchy subject. It involves many legislative, religious and family matters. Advocates claim that same-sex couples should have the same marriage rights and that same-sex marriages should be acknowledged the same way as heterosexual couples. Advocated state that eliminating gay marriage is a form of discrimination. The varying definitions of marriage comes with a large amount of dispute. Those who are opposed often quote religious viewpoints and concerns about the nurturing
What is marriage about? Who is marriage for? What are some of the complications with marriages in today’s society? How does religion plays a major part in marriage? According to Toby L. Ditz, “Marriage laws have historically withheld and continue to withhold the right to marry and the legal privileges associated with marriage from whole classes of people: slaves, interracial couples, and gay partners (Ditz, 2001,500)”. The way marriage is viewed in this newer generation differs significantly from the past. People’s observations and opinions on matrimony and its true meaning have changed extensively. Marriage is not less valued currently, but it 's definitely being viewed differently, for homosexuals especially. Within this research, we are going to examine why same sex marriage is morally right and should be legally recognized.
“My differences shouldn’t define who I am” (Bily 48). Let us face it, Homosexuals are people just like everyone else. So what, just because they are attracted to the same sex does not make them “extraterrestrial.” That is not the case at all, but surprisingly many people think that way. As homosexuality has become an emerging topic since the Eighties, people have been hitching onto bandwagons about gay marriage being morally wrong. Is it though? Consider this: was this country built off of arguments coming from a bible draped in a plastic, one-sided American flag, that entails such perennial gems as “Adam and eve, not Adam and Steve,” and “Love the sinner, hate the sin” (Frye). From the standpoint of someone who supports gay-rights, then
As we know, same-sex marriage has been a prominent issue that has so many arguments not just in the United States, but around the world over many years now. There is absolutely nothing more controversial than same-sex marriage in gay rights topic. Everyone has different opinions about same-sex marriage whether it should be legal or not. We now have to consider two aspects that are moral and religious. These two form a fundamental belief that same-sex couples and opposite-sex couples are different. Based on the definition of marriage, the view of religion, bad effects to children, and the lifestyle that should not be encouraged; therefore, the government should not legalize the same-sex marriage.
Nowadays, the same-sex couples have the right to marry under the constitution, just like any the straight couples, however, on the other hand, the opponents have different beliefs. Most their objection comes from religiosity and conservative backlash. These people believe that a real marriage is between a man and a women, if it comes from two people with same gender, it does not only destroy the norm of traditional marriage and violates natural law, but also oppose the Bible. However, the marriage definition is not about making sex, because it is totally about love. Both the traditional marriage and same-sex marriage are beyond the different religions, philosophies, education levels, financial backgrounds, careers, passions, hobbies, skin colors, so if people love someone enough, they should have the right to marry the one they love. In addition, the same-sex marriage does not against any religions, because all of religions spread
Gay marriage is the legal joining of same sex partners. It is legal in all 50 states, but the disagreement remains. According to the UCLA School of Law and the Williams Institute 9 million American citizens identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, etc., which in nearly 4% of our population (http://gaylife.about.com/od/comingout/a/population.htm). Though same sex marriage is no longer illegal, many people still feel that it should be. Some people feel that the acceptance and allowance of gay rights and marriage “turns a moral wrong into a civil right”, and that it “offends God” (https://www.tfpstudentaction.org/blog/10-reasons-why-homosexual-marriage-is-harmful-and-must-be-opposed) . If homosexuality does, in fact, offend God, and
Gay marriage has been a controversial topic throughout all of time. Until recently, straight marriage was the only kind of marriage acceptable to most people. Gay marriage is defined as the legal marriage between two people of the same sex. In the United States of America, Same-sex marriage is legal, but it has not always been that way. Since the 70’s, the path to marriage equality for homosexuals has not been easy. It took blood, sweat, tears, and countless hours of protest for gay marriage to gain equality in the US, but in the end, it was all worth it.
As we know, same-sex marriage has been discussed and argued for a long time. Within the controversial topic of gay rights, there’s no area more controversial than same-sex marriage. And all of us ask ourselves if same-sex marriage should be legal or not. But the fact is that we have to start thinking about it as a moral and religious topic. The government shouldn’t legalize the same-sex marriage because the
Same-sex marriage is one of the leading political topics in the United States today. There is an ongoing dispute pertaining to the legalization of same-sex marriages. America has shifted its head to focusing on supporting same-sex marriage or not. Many are for and against this topic but there has been no settlement for it yet. Homosexuals want to marry for the same reason that heterosexuals have and there should be no reason why they are not allowed to. There is some history behind this topic but there has yet to be a solution.
Same-Sex marriage goes against the traditional ways of marriage. However same-sex marriage is part of our civil rights. In the traditional religion used to create the civil rights by our founding fathers, it states “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood upon them.”-Leviticus 20:13. In the book “On Heaven and Earth” it also says that every person needs a male dad and a female mom that can raise them and help them grow (117).
As the society changing, the history of marriage also changes. Marriage is legally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship, but do those two partners always have to be a man and a woman? Most people believe that homosexuals should be granted equal rights as heterosexual couples. Being as an important social issue, same-sex marriage has become a hot topic of public debates in the recent years. For over the past decade, public support for the same-sex marriage has quickly risen. The United States is one of over twenty countries that allow gay and lesbian couples to wed. I believe that same-sex marriage should be legalized in all countries for several reasons, such as being an issue of equal rights, separation of church and state, no negative effect on the heterosexual communities, increasing in child adoption, and decreasing divorce and suicide rates.
