Salvador's father had a strict disciplinary approach to raising he's kids. His childhood would be full of anger towards his parents and classmates. Salvador Dali was an artist who was almost more notorious for his colorful personality as for his artistic talents. He took an apolitical outlook on world politics, but often dabbled in anti-establishment movements. This essay explores the life of Salvador Dali, the historical and political time he lived in, and how these influenced his work.

Salvador Dali is one of the most famous surrealist artists. His artwork is fascinating to look at and analyze. All of his work is very imaginative, rendered at a high level of realism, and is filled with extensive symbolism. First I will talk about the history of Surrealism, then how Dali studied and admired Sigmund Freud's theories which greatly influenced his art, he used Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory of dream interpretation to invent a technique for his work, and then using this technique he painted his bizarre dreams.

He forever changed the world and had a huge impact on the 20th century. He believe that they should do away with so much art that impresses the eye and rather make them mind travel.

In Dali’s early years of painting he experimented at first with landscapes, most of which were of his home in Figueres, Spain. Dali also made paintings of the surrounding area of his family’s summer home, in the seaside town of Cadaques. Dali’s transitional period was between 1927 and 1929, these were years of experimentation. In this period gravel, rocks, cork, and other materials can be noted on his canvases. Picasso just like any other artist evolved over his long artistic career but his evolution of fracturing and multi-views during the Cubism movement is of most importance. Cubism was developed by Picasso and Georges Braque and lasted from 1909 to 1912 and involves the use of monochromatic neutral colors and the taking apart of objects and analyzing them based on their shapes. The later is defined as fracturing, while the multi-views is when he looked at different objects from different angles finding all the different shapes an object can create and juxtaposing them together. Picasso had a lot of natural ability combined with formal teaching at a young age together these allowed him to become a very successful artist during his lifetime unlike most who only find it in death. Like many artists Picasso faced traumas in his life among them, the fights he had with his father over art, and the death of his sister at a young age.
