“The Influence of Saint Bonaventure on Christian Theology” A philosopher is a person who offers their thoughts, theories, and views on questions that are thought about in logic, ethics, or other logical fields. A saint is a person that is chosen by God to lead a life of virtue, benevolence, and to carry out many of the messages he has for us. They are to live under the rules of Church teaching and profess the Christian religion. There are many great philosophers and saints that have had a great impact on Christian Theology. One of these great saints and philosophers which have had a great impact on the Church is Saint Bonaventure, also known as the Doctor of the Church. Bonaventure was born in 1221 at Bagnorea in the vicinity of Viterbo. With an original baptismal name of John, a young boy was borne to Giovanni di Fidanza and Maria Ritella. Traveling to Paris again, Bonaventure had written another chapter about Saint Francis. The twelve heads made a decision that that any other writings about Saint Francis should be destroyed because they did not meet the full requirements they felt were necessary. Later he had written end the fourth chapter about Saint Francis. This chapter ordered a mass to take place every Saturday honoring Mary the Mother of Jesus. He in this time had also silenced many of Gerard of Abbeville's accusations about the Friars with his writing "Apologia pauperum". With all this change that Bonaventure had done, he continued making changes to the faith and had taken a large part in the Fourteenth Oecumenical Council on May 7, 1274. Unfortunately before the council had ended Bonaventure had passed away on July 15, 1274. The exact cause of Bonaventure’s death is unknown.
