Jaxon King Mr. Bergmann Senior English P1 1 September 2015 Russell Wilson Can Russell Wilson be the best NFL quarterback within his first three years? Without a doubt Russell Wilson has proved he is better then most hall of fame quarterbacks. By using his statistics, his win-loss record, and his super bowl appearances it will show why Russell Wilson is the best quarterback ever. Being a quarterback in your first three years is hard to be compared to some of the hall of famers. Although, hall of famers like Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, and Johnny Unitas had great careers, Russell Wilson is the best quarterback in his first three years. Russel Wilson’s statistics were more superior then some of the greatest quarterbacks in history. Russell Wilson …show more content…
Johnny Unitas had 418 completions, 762 attempts, 6,055 yards, fifty-two passing touchdowns, five rushing touchdowns, and thirty-four interceptions (Johnny Unitas Football Statistics). In Russell Wilson’s first three years, he had more yards, passing and rushing touchdowns, and less interceptions than hall of famers like Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, and Johnny Unitas. If that does not prove Russell Wilson is the greatest quarterback, then let’s go by the win-loss record of the first three …show more content…
Joe Montana had a record of twenty-one wins, and twenty-seven losses. Terry Bradshaw had a record of twenty-two wins twenty-six losses. Johnny Unitas had a record of twenty-one wins, and fifteen losses. Johnny Unitas played when a regular season consisted of twelve games. Do not let that fool you because if you were to take the percentage of all those records you will clearly see Russell Wilson has the best record. Russell Wilson won a total of thirty-six out of forty-eight games. His percentage was he won seventy-five percent of his games. Joe Montana won forty-three percent of his games. Terry Bradshaw won a total of forty-five percent of his games. With Johnny Unitas only playing thirty-six games and only winning twenty-one of those games. He only won fifty-eight percent of his games. The final way to prove he is the greatest quarterback to me is his appearances to the super bowl. Russell Wilson has played a total of three full seasons. In those seasons Russell Wilson has made a total of two back-to-back appearances to the super bowl. Joe Montana has appeared in only one super bowl in his first three years. Terry Bradshaw unfortunately did not appear in any super bowls for his first three years. Johnny Unitas like Joe Montana only appeared in one super bowl in three years. Russell Wilson won one out of two super bowls he appeared in. Russell Wilson was also the youngest
Jameis Winston has threw for 60 touchdowns and 10,000 yards for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in just three years. He is the second youngest to ever throw for 10,000 yards. Winston has been the heart and soul of the team since his arrival despite the odds he has faced on and off the field.
In his seven super bowl appearances, Tom had a 95.3 QB rating, he also punted the ball twice in his career which totaled 68 yards. Brady’s first career touchdown pass was a 21 yard stick to Terry Glenn on October 14,2001 against the San Diego Chargers. Brady is the winning NFL quarterback of all time with a 208 career wins including the playoff
He was the highest drafted black quarterback ever. That year, Steve signed a contract for $28.4 million for 7 years, and the first thing he did with that money was build a new house for his mom in Mt. Olive, MI. At 22, he was the Oilers highest paid player. In the offseason that year he was tutored intensively. His primary mission in the 95 and 96 season was to absorb knowledge and make the leap to the NFL. During his rookie season when the starting quarterback was injured, Steve played against the Detroit Lions the second half of the game. He completed 16/27 passes for 203 yards including a TD. He started the next 2 games and won both. During 1996, he played 10 games and started 4. The team went 8-8, just missing the playoffs. During the 1997 season, Steve had 674 rushing yards, which was the third highest for a QB in the NFL. He had the second best overall rating of any QB drafted in the last 6 years. In the 1998 season, the Titans placed second in the AFC Central. In 1999 Steve had a fantastic performance against the Bengals in a 36-35 win with 21/32 passing with 341 yards and 3 TD’s. He led Tennessee to the AFC Championship. The Titans moved on to their 1st Super Bowl berth, where they faced the St. Louis Rams. Steve became the second black QB to start in the Super Bowl. The Titans ended up losing to the Rams in a nail biting game, but Steve’s strong performance didn’t go unnoticed. People considered him a
Aaron Rodgers has had many accomplishments during his career so far. First, in 2010 Aaron Rodgers lead the Green Bay Packers to Super Bowl. When people talk about the greatest of football, Peyton Manning and Joe Montana are the first names that come to mind. Although Manning is still playing American football, he and Montana are huge role models to many young quarterbacks. For example, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning’s younger brother, even Cam Newton, who is one of the newest quarterbacks in the NFL, have been affected by either Manning or Montana. Both athletes have had a great career in NCAA and NFL, leaving their mask and setting the bar very high for other players. However, every kingdom has only one king. Many will say that Montana is the better of the two quarterbacks; however, Peyton Manning is the better quarterback because of many statistical reasons.
In 1983 the Broncos would give John Elway the starting job at Quarterback, where he stayed for the next 15 years. Right away he showed flashes of his ability to win and to make a comebacks
There are many things you look for in a quarterback, one is the reliability of quarterbacks. The fact you know your quarterback is going to be healthy and ready to play each game. Brett Favre is known for the iron man award. Meaning the consecutive games he was able to play without being injured. In fact he never missed a game in his career on the Packers. The total number of games he played consecutively was 297 regular season games. You could rely on Brett Favre to be at every game and be able to play. Aaron Rodgers on the other hand has missed many games due to injuries. Some injuries lasting for most or all of a season. In fact, currently Aaron Rodgers is out for this season due to a broken collarbone. Brett Favre definitely has a better track record of being healthy than Aaron Rodgers during his NFL career.
When you look at Tom Brady or Peyton Manning you usually only think of one word “Greatness” both were/are long time franchise quarterbacks that helped define a generation of football rivalries as over their careers they faced off Seventeen times with five of the games happening in the playoffs. But to really start to compare these two quarterbacks you need to look at the beginning of their careers.

They did it in large part because of three players (“Aikman”) Troy Aikman was a very big factor on the cowboys team. Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys in 1989, when Dallas had been one of the most successful and popular teams in NFL history (“Aikman”). For multiple years the cowboys have always been the most dominant team in the NFL. With the first pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts selected Peyton Manning. Peyton's background looked to set him up for a great career from the start. Manning was talked up to be a great player, and he has proved himself throughout the years. While already being one of the most known quarterbacks in NFL history, Peyton is also considered by many to be the greatest of all time. Peyton Manning is the best quarterback in NFL history because of the following: he's humble on and off the field, he's resilient through neck injuries and surgeries, and he holds a lot of NFL records.
Tom Brady is obviously better than Peyton Manning in so many ways but the main reason on why he’s a better Quarterback is because Brady has more Super Bowl rings than Peyton Manning and that is everything to a player. Another thing that will prove that Brady is the superior Quarterback is that he has the important Stats locked down. Like for example the interception rate, Brady’s is extremely low compared to Peyton Manning and a lot of other Quarterbacks too. Now you know you’re better than Peyton Manning when you go down as the most winningest Quarterback of all time which Brady is in the regular season and in the playoffs as well. Now with these facts i know that i can prove Tom Brady is the better Quarterback than Peyton Manning.
To start off, Tom Brady has broken a lot of records. Some of his records include the most super bowl wins by a quarterback, most super bowl MVP selections, has won twenty five of the thirty four playoff games he has started in, has been selected to twelve pro bowls, and he has the most divisions won by a single quarterback (Doeden). For instance, he also has led the Patriots from a losing team to a winning team. With Tom Brady starting at quarterback the Patriots have never had a losing season (Doeden). In addition, he also has broken records for his stats. One of the records he broke was the best Touchdown to interception ratio of 28-2, because of this he wants to play until he is fourth eight (Reyes). At this years Super Bowl he had a great game. The Patriots overcame a twenty five point deficit and took the game to the first Super Bowl overtime game, he threw his first post season pick six ever after playing in thirty four playoff games, and in the last six possessions of the game he lead his team to four touchdowns and a field goal (Craig). After all, he did this all while his family was going through tough times. His mom was battling cancer and Brady dedicated the win to her (Hofforth). This is why Tom Brady is the best quarterback to ever live.
Both of these players had historic careers; Lynch had 26 interceptions, 490 tackles, and ten forced fumbles. Steve Atwater also had a Hall of Fame-worthy career gathering up 1074 tackles and 24 interceptions, including one that he took back for a touchdown. It is hard to fathom that someone with over 1000 tackles hasn't made it into the Hall of Fame.
