Equality’s Take on the Anthem Society In Anthem there are many rules to keep the people in the governments control. Rules can be a great way to keep things in order although if to many are in place it can block out important traits that make us all unique individuals. Equality is able to discover the lack of individualism in his society and realize that there are good rules as well as bad ones. After Equality realized how the government's rules affected the people I think he would take away several of them. Here are some of the rules I think he would take out: You are not allowed to be smarter than your peers, only the council of vocations can pick your career, and you are taken away from your parents and put in the home of the infants. In Anthem everyone learns at the same pace. If you understand something before others do you are considered different and of the devil. You are simply seen as an outcast. This keeps the whole society from advancing in every aspect. It holds everyone back and creates an extremely boring life. Equality struggled with being held back in his education and was geared towards learning. Equality would want everyone to learn at their own pace as well as exceed in what they wanted to learn about. …show more content…

Imagine you were stuck doing something you didn't want to do for the rest of your life. In Anthem no one gets to choose their career. The council of vocations chooses for you and there is nothing you can do to change that. Equality simply wanted to be a scientist but was unable to because of this rule. I think equality would take away this rule so that everyone could choose their own career. This would cause the people to be much happier. People work better and more efficiently when they are doing something they enjoy so this would help the society advance at a very rapid
