Canyon Lake has always been a popular place of recreation for the citizens of Rapid City. Former Pennington county official C. E. completely encapsulated the pleasure that Canyon Lake brings to the citizens of Rapid City in one simple statement, "I know of nothing which adds to the real pleasure of living in a community so much as does a body of water" (C.E. Smith). But this picturesque local park is not as pure as it seems, the small local reservoir has many unhealthy ecological problems hidden below the surface of the water. This a problem that could jeopardize the health of the lake, as well as the recreation of this park, therefore it is imperative to clean and improve the health of this lake.

There is a need for easily accessible recreation available to students in Teton Valley. Recreation provides the stimulation needed to properly grow and develop the brain, and in students’ case, the brain is growing and developing the quickest it will in their entire lives. Incidentally, recreation is an entertaining way to exercise. Are you aware that in 2012, one-third of adolescents were obese? Furthermore, it’s important for youth to learn and have fun in equilibrium, and a recreation center would do just that. Additionally, a recreation center would provide kids with a fun way to exercise and learn, whilst keeping them happy and out of trouble. I am proposing that you fund and build a recreation center here in Teton Valley.
