Rheumatoid Arthritis is a form of arthritis that produce pain, swelling, stiffness, redness, tenderness, and deformity of many joints of the body. For patients with this illness, each day’s activities can present many challenges. The simplest activities, which are taken for granted, can pose a significant obstacle for a patient with rheumatoid arthritis. Early diagnosis is challenging because the symptoms of early RA can be non-specific (e.g. malaise, fatigue, weakness, muscle soreness, low-grade fever, and weight loss) and may actually be symptoms of other condition(s). (William C. Shiel Jr. 1996). Rheumatoid arthritis can be difficult to diagnose in its early stages because the early sign and symptoms mimic those of many other diseases. There is no one blood test or physical finding to confirm the diagnosis. During the physical exam, your doctor will check your joints for selling, redness, and warmth. The physician will also test your reflexes and muscle strength. (Ferri FF.Ferri’s, 2014).
Although, symptoms and severity of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) vary from person to person. Patient prognosis will depend on many factors, such as whether patients test positive or negative for the protein called rheumatoid factor (RF). Other factors that affect prognosis include patient’s age at time of diagnosis, overall health, and whether or not a person develop complications. In the female patients 33 (30 per cent) had arthritis for less than five years, 25 (22 per cent) from five to ten years, and 54 (48 per cent for more than ten years. Whereas, in male patients eight (25 per cent) had the disease less than five years, ten (31 per cent) from five to ten years, and 14 (44 per cent) for more than ten years. Therefore, RA suffers have to be on a Meridian diet which includes fish, chicken, fruit, and vegetables.
