Respiratory Protection Training Program
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires employers to create a written respiratory program if their employees may be exposed to respiratory hazards. Respiratory hazards are a main concern in any situation when there is a presence of some form of airborne hazard which threatens a person’s health and life. Respiratory hazards exist in a workplace when a substance is in the atmosphere at a concentration level that may cause bodily harm if inhaled, or when there is an oxygen deficiency in the atmosphere. (OSHA 2011) CMX, Inc. does not currently have an official respiratory protection training program set in place. Training is needed in order to meet safety laws regarding hearing and respiratory regulations. This detailed training program is designed specifically for the proper use and maintenance of respirators, and may help reduce employee exposure to respiratory hazards that they may encounter at work.Target Audience
Training will be required by all CMX, Inc. employees who work in any irritating or hazardous atmospheres. A hazardous atmosphere is one that contains levels of dust, smoke, fumes, vapors or gases that meet or exceed safety levels that are set by OSHA. There are 250 employees total. There are 198 male subjects, and 52 female subjects. There is a wide age range among employees, ranging from 20 to 62 years old, with the average age in the 30s. There are no employees with any learning or physical disabilities. All employees have at least a high school diploma. Training will also be required by all CMX, Inc. management personnel.
