But, at the same time if there is a point to upgrade the national economy, it has to be focused on international tourism where people around the world travel miles and spent thousands of dollars to feel the scenic and cultural beauty abroad. Planner and economist have realized that economy of Nepal can be flourished through tourism and with this fact, we are celebrating tourism year targeting to receive 1 million tourists by the end of 2011. The number is high in terms of accommodation that is available in current situation, hence, it can be understood that to meet this target in 2011 or some years later, it is very necessary to create sufficient space with proper facilities. There are very less number of resorts as compared to hotels and lodges and so, resort tourism is not so flourished in Nepal. Resort can provide versatile functions and amenities and we are not being able to have masterpiece resort to advocate all the demands, though some attempts made so far are insufficient.

The Travel and Tourism industry is still one of the largest single businesses in world commerce and its importance is widely recognized. The tourism industry is now one of the largest sectors earning foreign exchange. In the face of many benefits, many countries have started assigning due weight age to the tourism industry in their national development agenda. Tourism is an industry that operates on a massively broad scale: it embraces activities ranging from the smallest sea-side hotel; to air-lines, multi-national hotel chains and major international tour operators. Originally, non-traditional industries such as tourism emerged as a solution to strike a balance between ecology and industry
The efforts to promote tourism in India were made in 1945 , a committee was setup under the Chairmanship of Sir John Sargent. The development of tourism was taken up in a planned manner in 1956 , but it was only after the 1980’s that tourism activity picked momentum. A resort is a place used for relaxation or recreation, attracting visitors for holidays orvacations. Resorts are places, towns or sometimes commercial establishment operated by a single company. In order to develop tourism throughout the country, The Ministry of Tourism and Civil aviation produced “Tourism Vision 2020” in consultation with its industry partners (Tourism Vision 2020, 2009). This booklet was published in May 2009. Visit Nepal 2011 was targeted to increase visitors mainly from India and China due to the growing economy power of the 2 countries as well as being 2 of the worlds most populous country (Adhikari, n.d.). Government of Nepal has placed tourism on high priority in its new tourism policy declared in 2009 making it mainstream with national development (Tourism Vision 2020, 2009). One of the aims of “Tourism Vision 2020” is to bring 2 million arrivals by 2020 and also increase economic opportunities and employment in tourism sector to 1 million (Tourism Vision 2020, 2009). “Tourism vision 2020” has 6 main objectives to

Tourism has tremendously grown and developed over the years where it is now considered an industry. The stabilisation of a nation is a must for the development of tourism industry, tourism also helps generate income for the country. The tour operators that were interviewed for this research project have described Nepal as a country with full of breathtaking views and mountains, scenery, wildlife conservations places such as the national parks and the cultural and religious diversity and friendly people. But, In Denmark, Nepal is not perceived as having all of the things mentioned above. Many Danes perceive Nepal as a backpacking destination, hard core trekking destination and a Himalayan kingdom. The diversity of culture, mix of religions, wildlife conservation areas and beautiful national parks, friendly Nepali people are still unknown to many Danes in Denmark. Although Nepal possesses many assets, in the Danish market, it is largely unknown, which is an opportunity as Danish market for traveling to Nepal is underdeveloped and tourism to Nepal can be increased from Denmark.
Thailand has been promoting the country as a tourist destination and develops the country in the sustainable way to increase the flow of foreign tourists (Henkel et al., 2006). Thailand has increased the number of tourists inbound more than 106 times from 81,340 in 1960 to 8.6 million in 1999. Meanwhile, the tourism income also improved from US$9 to US$6.7 billion. Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) was planning to position Thailand as the tourism hub of Asia in the future. The country will be well known internationally and turn into the peak tourist destination in the next 20 years (Zhang, Qu and Tavitiyaman, 2009).

The tourism sector being a strong contributor is just not a new finding as its contribution has received widespread recognition in the country. (The tourism destination conference for 2010) reveals that the tourism receipt for 2009 was at RM 53.367.7 million, with 23.65 million tourist arrivals, making this industry the second largest income earner for the country in the same year and though these figures are laudable, it is said that the ‘local tourism sector has not been exploited to its potential’ (Y.B. Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib, 3rd March 2010). In 2009, Malaysia made it into top 10 most visited countries in the world, and was confidently placed in the 9th position below turkey and Germany. This remark shows that Malaysia’s tourism sector has pulled international recognition and has gained force of attraction that draws the attention of tourists all around the continents of the world to choose Malaysia as their tourism destination.

The locale may be used to include the holiday destination and what it offers to the tourist. The holiday destination may offer natural attractions. It is considered as the most important basic component of tourism. Fashion is an important factor in the demand for various tourist attractions and amenities. The tourist who visits a particular place for its natural beauty may decide to visit some other attractions due to a change in fashion.
