The article was about eating healthy. Many Believe that saturated fats are the best to eat, but in fact a low income of the kinds of fats found in fish and olive oil can give a higher chance of heart disease. The number of deaths from an insufficient amount of healthy fats is three times higher than a high intake of saturated fats. I thought this was interesting since most people think it's the other way
In paragraph six the author talks about Dr.Dean Ornish (an advocate of low fat diets) felt as if the study did not follow the participants for a long enough period to show how low-fat diets can affect health. He also felt the women that participated in the study did not lower the fat in their diets enough to really have an effect. All together in a contradicting matter ,Dr.Dean Ornish was trying to prove that low-fat diets aren’t that bad and doesn’t
“Unhappy Meals” written by Michael Pollan covers the unknown links between diet and our health. When reading the text, paragraphs 40 through 44 affected me the most. It had me think about how some surveys could be unreliable to due unrealistic questions used in the given survey. Previous to reading the article, I had assumed that information given to me about diets, especially the Western types, was correct. While reading the article I began to suspect that my previous assumptions were wrong. The results of this realization had lead me to be more open minded about new information. I began to take in that maybe surveys were not one size fits all. Pollan wrote this article to be persuasive. However, in my opinion, Pollan could benefit from changing
This is just a reminder of the conversation concerning the use of the deep fat fryers on the serving lines the morning of 8 April, 2017. Please inform the morning shift leader personnel not turning on the fryers, and the R&U personnel to move the deep fat fryer as far as the gas line would allow without disconnection. The KPs will start cleaning the hoods at 0800; therefore, the deep fat fryer should be operational for the lunch meal.
There were a few key points that stood out in the reading of chapter 4 and the articles provided. One point that stood out to me in chapter 4 is located on page 102. In 1996 Dr. Peter D’Adamo the author of “Eat Right for Your Type”, was able to tell which foods a person would process best, and which foods would produce useless calories. This was all determined by your blood type. The small reference towards the Dr’s program goes on to say “while there are many serious critics of Dr. D’Adamo’s program, and the research that supports it, there are also testimonies to the programs life savings values”. Another couple points that stood out in the reading of chapter 4 are both located on page 104. The first point noted was the variety of cancers and mortality rates that are high in regions where the population had a high rate of meat consumption. The other point which stood out from chapter 4 is that “ ½ of the harvested agriculture land in the U.S. is planted with feed crops which brings up a fact that grain which is being fed to cattle is not being fed to the many people who are starving”.
“The Last Hamburger Stand Since 1952” is the proud motto of one of my most favorite eateries, FATBURGER! Fatburger is a burger joint that focuses mainly on hamburgers that vary from small to large and quantities from two or three beef patties. They also offer non beef hamburgers such as chicken, veggie, and turkey. There is an array of toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, eggs, bacon, and relish to name a few. My favorite location sits right inside the casino, Wild Horse Pass. Surrounded by the sounds of slot machines, roulette tables, and music, makes eating my fatburger that much more enjoyable. The concept of “building” your burger to your liking is amusing. Here is my construction. We begin with a nice toasted

The film illustrates a huge increase in calories from meat, dairy, and refined sugars in the American diet from the early 1900’s--over double in each category. A survey among people on the streets states that people include meat in their diet because of protein. The film then focuses on cholesterol, its impacts on the arteries, and how much money is spent
Despite the abundance of research published over the years, which has given evidence time and time again to the importance of nutritious food and active
The three-day diet analysis was interesting. There were many positive attributes to it and definitely negative ones. Over the course of the three days, which were Friday, Saturday and Sunday: and figured this would give a good depiction of what I was consuming on a regular basis. In some places I was consuming more than I should be and in some I was consuming less than I should be. There were also those places were I was getting just the right amount. It is so interesting to me to be able to find out what I am consuming and how I am consuming it. Being an active male, it was most interesting of what I ate, what my average of the three days were, and the plan on how I would correct the way I eat to make it a more healthier lifestyle.
Over one-third of American adults are not overweight - but obese. Additionally, over one-sixth of American children are obese. Obesity is not just a condition, it is a physical disorder that poses numerous additional health risks. To measure obesity, the BMI scale is used and recognizes people with a BMI of 30 or over as obese. A healthy weight is from 18.5 to 25, and overweight is classified from 25 to 30. Furthermore, obesity is a detrimental disease that not only increases the risks of contracting other chronic diseases, but becomes a lifelong depression that consists of the negative development of fat cells and the feeling of utter hopelessness.
What is missing from this article is more written words. The author has a purpose for his statistics he provides, however he makes no fight and does not try and explain these numbers. This is a huge gap with the entire paper. My research paired with this article would be perfect, if I explained the exact health concerns obesity can cause paired with the research done with these statistics it is a solid argument. Potential health concern alone do not have an impact, but when backed with actual numbers of people who have died or gone to the emergency room for the reasons I would research it would reach
Due to being on a high fat, high-calorie diet because of my Cystic FIbrosis gaining weight has been a hightlight in my life, to help me achieve this goal of gaining weight my dad bet me that if I gained ten pounds in one appointment he would give me one hundred dollars. Seven years after making that bet I hopped on the scale at the Children's Hospital and as the numbers ticked on I knew this would be the day, this would be the appointment then there was a screeched. As the doctor came in automatically I screamed so excitedly, "I gained ten pounds! I finally beat the ten pounds! Ha!" Knowing this would be the day and indeed, it finally was. As I talked to my dietician I truly had the realization that I achieved my life long health goal, I achieved
Equally alarming is the information the authors conveyed regarding the government’s repudiation of information presented by the Surgeon General as well as the World Health Organization expressing that a healthy diet assists in the prevention of obesity related illness. It was surprising to learn that the government would question the viability of these reliable institution’s findings. I have to question my faith in the integrity of our nation’s most influential health organizations at the hearing of this information. I agree with the Surgeon General and the World Health Organization; healthy diet definitively aids in well-being and deterrence of obesity linked maladies. As my father has a formidable relationship with unhealthy food his health has been plagued with diabetes as well as significant heart problems; these illnesses are notably linked to poor diet choices. Conversely, my father-in-law was diagnosed with prediabetes and upon hearing the news promptly changed his eating habits to include the elimination of sugar; in a few short months his grim prognosis was transformed. It is my belief that the foods an individual chooses to consume can have vast repercussions, good or bad, on health.
This paper examines nutritional status and dietary history of [an 18-year-old] 18 years old Caucasian male patient by collecting data of the food he eats and recordings the food he has eaten within 24 hours. First, health information such as food likes and dislikes was collected through interview in the form of open ended questions.
In the past few weeks, I have attempted to exercise at least 5 times a week, challenge myself by eating more fruits and veggies, drinking more water, eating more superfoods, and getting at least 8 hours of sleep at night. I also worked on overall improving my own wellness with more meditation, winding down at night before sleeping, and dumping the processed, unhealthy foods. At the beginning, I thought this would be simple, but as days passed, I soon realized how unhealthy my usual lifestyle is and how much better I was feeling focusing more on my health. From running a mile around the neighborhood to sleeping more at night, I saw an improvement physically and mentally.
