When my report card arrives to my house I will right away go to the mail and get the card to see what my credits were. I will be the first one to open the report card because I be the only one at my house and I would not be able to hold my patience until my mom comes home. Once she is at home I will give her my report card so that she could see what I got for my classes and when she sees the report card she would be so surprise because I never failed more than one class and this would be the first time I failed more than one class. When my mom sees my grades in the report card I think that she will say that I say a lot of things to my sister and make fun of her for getting bad grades and now I am the one getting bad grades. I also think that
As a Curriculum Coach, I facilitate professional development for teachers based on the needs of our staff and students. After spending time observing classrooms and meeting with teachers, I realized that we needed to examine our current grading practices. Our current practices focus too much on grading effort and behaviors, and not enough on measuring understanding of specific learning targets. As a result, our students and teachers focus on turning in assignments, instead of learning. If ask why a student is failing, the most common response is “he is not turning in his work”. Teachers are unable to communicate which specific learning targets the students are missing, because the grades are distorted by student behaviors. When making decisions about placement in honors courses, it is difficult to determine which students have the knowledge necessary to move into an advanced course because their grades are clouded by effort and

All work handed in by the learner, they must sign and date and confirm that it is their own work.
Would you consider yourself as a grade junkie? Do you always strive for an A and take nothing less? In his essay “A Young Person’s Guide to the Grading System,” Jerry Farber argues that the grading system is not a good way of evaluating students academically. He believes that with the grading system the way it is, students’ do not try to learn; they only push towards getting a good letter grade. Though some may disagree, Farber's view on the grading system is true.
Patient J.B. presented the office with chief complaints of coughs and sore throat that lasted about seven days. These symptoms are typically seen in respiratory tract infection or inflammation that is caused by viruses or bacteria. The initial differential diagnoses included Influenza, cough, common cold, community-acquired pneumonia, acute bronchitis, acute pharyngitis, and postnasal drip syndrome based on the chief complaints. The reason that why these differential diagnoses were considered is because they all have coughs as the symptom. Some of these differential diagnoses have both coughs and sore throat. JD, et al. (2017) states that Influenza A or B viruses can cause a dry cough and sore throat. Troullos,
Throughout this experience I have learnt a great deal about the Graduate Teachers Professional Assessment (GTPA) and how the data I collect and analyse are undepined by the componets stated in this document. This culminating statement claifies the 4 components and how evidence produce aligned with and consequently effectd teaching and learng decisions and student results. Six months ago I had not heard of the GTPA standards now due to my newly developed understanding. However, through learning about each components. Such as data collecting, intepreting and evaluation, planning and teaching , feedback and judgement and Standards and moderation. I have come to realize the importance of unpacking and understand the requirements for the GTPA
Since social media is instantaneously growing, it makes it a lot easier to write reviews online or to rate a particular subject. As an example, there are many websites that let us consumers post reviews and ratings, such as Yelp, Facebook, Angie’s List, Foursquare, and Google Reviews. Similary, the website RateMyProfessor.com allow the students to annonymously rate their professor on different scales and marks. Recently, multiple debates came up about if is it fair to rate professors online. According to RateMyProfessors.com, “RateMyProfessors.com is the largest online destination for professor ratings. Users have added more than 15 million ratings, 1.4 million professors and over 7,000 schools...” These debate leads to multiple arguments ranging
At times, some situations seem more fair than others, and we simply cannot understand why. We have this feeling that for some reason, the outcome was fair, whether it was what we wanted or not. There can even be instances when we look back upon the memory and admit that the outcome does not favor us, but we feel no resentment towards the decision because we feel that it was justified. Recently, I myself was presented with a similar situation. After receiving a grade with which I was not pleased, I felt angry and victimized. I then thought of another instance where I had received an even worse grade (in a different course); however, the difference was that for some reason, the worse grade did not upset me, and I simply accepted
When my report card gets home im one-hundred percent sure that my mom is going to open it. Because that is what she does all the time. This first marking period I didn't do so great so im sure that my moms face is going to be the face of disappointment. They will be pretty mad about the grades and sad. They will probably tell me to give them my phone or that im moving schools. They wouldn't be pleased with the grades. Im sure that I might give them some excuse about why I got that grade and how im going to try to do better next marking period. Then they will answer with the same old story about why they work and that I will never understand and that I will keep on getting bad grades. But then soon enough like in 3 days it will be forgotten
When my report card arrives to my house I get really nervous and scared because I know how mad my parents get. When they open my report card, they start giving me a long speech on how school is really important and how I should stay more focus because if I don't get my things together I am going to be stressing a lot like they do now. My sister always says to not worry because if I know I'm trying I shouldn't get scared because if I'm trying my best I'll get somewhere. My dad always says to try my very best because he wanna see me make it and wanna see me graduate. My mom just starts yelling and always saying I do bad because I'm always on my phone. And the rest of my family always telling me to do my best and to put effort in school so I can
Key when it is of fundamental importance in gaining competitive advantage and is a make or break component in the success or failure of the plan.
When my report cards arrive at my house, I be prepare to face what is going to be for their reactions. When they open my report cards, they will call me to be right next to them or talk to them. My mom will say," Here is the report cards, I hope that are not bad grades" This make feel really awful or sick to my stomach for my parents to see my grades. I get really nervous, scared, and nauseous that my parents are expecting really good grades. This puts me in a lot of pressure on my back to make my school life more harder for me. I want good grades to see every time to make my parents satisfied for my bad grades. I would do anything to change those mistakes. Feeling bad to my stomach is like having the feeling of giving up. I didn't want to
The overall outcomes of the 5 week course were ultimately a success, based on the previous goals set. While the main point of the classes was to disseminate information, and to lead to behavior changes that facilitated weight loss, the information handed out was overwhelming for most part. This sometimes led to participants feeling overwhelmed and stressed, about learning all the material. Furthermore, the post course evaluations gave much needed information that will help the development of future programs like this one.
As a trainer it has become very evident to me that assessment is a critical component of training/teaching and as such it is essential that I continuously monitor the trainees’ progress to help me to identify; where they are and if my training methods are developing and progressing individuals on.
Children enter school with minimal knowledge of grade point averages and college admissions processes. Around third grade, however, everything changes as letter grades enter the picture. Suddenly, transcripts and accelerated learning programs appear, and a new type of pressure is placed on students. The further they are along their educational journey, the more these letters grow to affect their perceptions of themselves and future career opportunities. But what impact does the grading system have on a student’s quality of education and depth of learning in school and future career paths, and to what extent is it possible to create a quality academic environment without a grade point system?
