Romeo & Juliet
Love is a happy and strong emotion and it isn’t something that can fade away easily when it’s true. There are many people who aren’t loved or can’t find someone to love. When some people finally find someone they can love they cherish that person and will do anything and everything to be with them. There are different types of love, such as falling in love, a parent’s love for their child, or loving your friends and family. Although love is something positive it can cause many terrible things. In the play, Romeo & Juliet, the love connection between Romeo and Juliet, and the love for them cause many deaths throughout the play. One of the first deaths in Romeo & Juliet is the death is Mercutio. Mercutio is known as the cousin

Tybalt is known as Capulet’s nephew and Juliet’s cousin. He dies at the hands of Romeo because Tybalt killed Romeos friend, Mercutio. Romeo is enraged and is declaring his love for Juliet saying she has made him soft also saying he should have fought Tybalt himself. Tybalt and he fight and Romeo kills Tybalt. Although fighting Tybalt was probably inevitable the love connection between Romeo and Juliet did cause this tragedy. Romeo is very angry, “Romeo, though he changes enormously under her influence, remains subject to anger and to despair… (Harold Bloom 100)” and may not feel so strongly about killing Tybalt if Tybalt didn’t kill his …show more content…
Juliet “dies” when she is really just in and deep sleep from a potion she got from Friar Lawrence all part of her plan to get out of marrying Paris and getting to live with her true love. The love connection is so strong they will die to not be paired with anyone else, “Being forced to marry Paris is a fate worse than death, as far as Juliet is concerned (Shmoop Editorial Team “Romeo and Juliet as Booker's Seven Basic Plots Analysis: Tragedy Plot”). Once Romeo finds Juliet dead and not knowing the plan he kills himself because he has lost his one and only true love. When Juliet wakes up and finds Romeo dead she then kills herself because now she has lost her one and only true
During the party, act 1 scene 4, Mercutio tries to get Romeo to go dance on the party floor. During this time Romeo spots Juliet, only now leading the whole story onward. If Mercutio didn’t get Romeo to go dance and meet Juliet they would have never been married and would have never died. Although Mercutio managed to play another big art in act 3 scene 1 lines 60-65 is when Mercutio gets killed. Since Romeo is very loyal to his best friend Mercutio he now fights back against Tybalt an ends up killing him. Which now again leads Romeo to leave the city to only come back to find Juliet ‘dead’ so in depression he kills himself, when Juliet wakes up she is also extremely sad and find no point in life and kills herself. Mercutio plays the biggest part of the Romeo and Juliet tragedy because if it wasn’t for him Romeo and Juliet would have not met and there wouldn’t have been a Romeo and
In Romeo and Juliet there is a scene where Tybalt was stabbed by a sword and died with this happening, there were many people who could have been held responsible for his death, Romeo, Mercutio, even his own cousin, Juliet. But the people who are actually responsible for his death would be the whole Capulet family including himself. The way his family plays into this is the hatred between the Montagues and Capulets. If Tybalt’s family wouldn’t have raised him to have such dislike for the Montagues then this fight never would have happened and Tybalt wouldn’t have been killed. Tybalt and his family are responsible for his death in many ways, Tybalt had a bad reputation, he would always go around looking for a fight, he hated Romeo and was always bad mouthing everyone, he was overall a hot head.
One reason Tybalt is liable for his own death is because of his anger issues. One way that he shows this is when he says “Romeo, the hate I bear thee can afford no better term than this: thou art a villain.” (3.1. 59-60). Essentially Romeo explains to Tybalt that he has no reason for them to fight because he loves and cherishes the Capulet name more than he knew, and has never done anything to harm or injure him. Tybalt has no idea that his cousin, Juliet, and Romeo are now married which would make them related as well, he thinks that hating Romeo is a good enough reason for them to dual. As a result of Tybalt getting angry and offended at everything, he is the reason for his
Romeo and Juliet is known as one of the most popular love stories ever written. However, the play is not about love, but about death. William Shakespeare wrote this play to warn readers about the danger of hatred and impulsive actions. Romeo’s love for Juliet and his impulsive nature contributed to the deaths of Tybalt, Mercutio, Juliet, Paris, Lady Montague , and Romeo himself.
Of all the things that occur in Romeo and Juliet, the death of Tybalt is one of the most climatic parts of the story. Yet, this all started from another killing of a different person, Mercutio. Mercutio, a relative of the Prince and friend of Romeo, and Tybalt, nephew to Lady Capulet and Mercutio’s arch enemy, were in a heated conversion when Romeo walked in after getting married to Juliet and saw what was going on. Tybalt and Mercutio began to fight and Romeo tried to come in between them to stop the whole thing. Unfortunately, as Tybalt was under Romeo’s arms, he stabbed Mercutio and he died soon after. In all the rage, Romeo was furious that his friend was dead and starts to fight with Tybalt.
Unfortunately, the message was not sent, so when Romeo arrives he thinks she is dead. He loves her so much that he would die so they can be with each other. When Juliet awakens, Romeo is dead, with a poison he has taken. Juliet realizes that he has not left any poison for her. Juliet stabs herself because she loves Romeo. The death of Juliet is represented by Friar Laurence's passage, when he says that the parents love forced her to illness(death). The overprotection of the Capulets, allowed the feud to get in the way of their daughters love. This feud caused Juliet to fall in love with a “wrong” person, a Montague. When her true love is banished from Verona, she feels that she cannot openly tell her parents about her love for Romeo, so she fakes her death. With the Capulets overprotection, Juliet does not feel safe telling her
Relationship is described as an emotional or other connection between people. The book Of Mice and Men and “Romeo and Juliet” both have similar relationships. These relationships are built around different circumstances and situations. George and Lennie only have each other which creates a better relationship. Romeo and Juliet had large families to support and love them. They grew up surrounded by strong families. When they met violence between the families forced them to choose family or each other. How does one have a strong enough bond after two days to turn away from a family whose has been supporting them throughout their lives? A solid relationship is not created in two days, but built through good and bad life experiences. Even though Romeo and Juliet have a relationship of love and forgiveness, George and Lennie still have the stronger
After finding out that Mercutio had died, Romeo decided to take matters into his own hands. Romeo stabbed Tybalt, and he died. This of course is why Prince Escalus banned Romeo from Verona, which caused another death shortly after.
“Names mean nothing, when you are everything.” ~Brooklyn VonBank~ Throughout William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, there are many deaths and reasons for these. Many things are to blame for these however, their love in my opinion caused it all. They couldn’t get past the thought of living without each other even if it meant costing their lives.
The suicide committed by both Juliet and Romeo demonstrates their blinding love and how they would rather love each other or not live at all. For example Romeo says,”Why art thou yet so fair? Shall I believe. That unsubstantial death is amorous, And that the lean abhorrèd monster keep. Thee here in dark to be his paramour? For fear of that, I still will stay with thee.” Romeo says that we would rather die with Juliet than live without her. This is a very powerful moment in the play, because it resembles that love is a poison that can kill. In reality, it is very unlikely to be able declare your love for someone only after three days. Truthfully, I believe that Romeo and Juliet didn’t love each other but fell in the love with the idea of each other, making both of them make ignorant decisions. Romeo and Juliet die because their young foolish love possessed them to do rash unintelligent things. In addition, this is another scene that demonstrates love's
In the book Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare demonstrates that love kills when Juliet dies. In the book it says that Juliet died in her sleep but she did not. Juliet tricked everyone but the frier. Juliet was to take a potion that made her fall asleep so she would wake up to the love of her life. Once Juliet would wake up Romeo and her would run away together. Instead of that happening they both ended up passing away. “quote”. In this quote it described that Romeo and juliet have killed people because of their love for each other. Once the parents of Romeo and Juliet find their children's dead bodies next to each other they both passed
When analysing Romeo and Juliet it becomes apparent that while the two main characters’ lives were said to be predetermined by fate, it is Romeo's deep love for Juliet that acts as the catalyst that sets his fate into motion. Romeo was bound to love juliet but it was Romeo’s deep love for juliet that gets Romeo in to trouble. Additionally, Romeo gets to caught up in the one and only love of his life and when all the sudden it was gone he decided to kill himself. Although Romeo stated, “with love's light wings did I o’erperch these walls”( 2.2.73-75). This would prove that know matter what happens romeo will always go after Juliet/love Juliet. Ultimately, it is Romeo who is to romantic therefor creating the fate for himself and Juliet.
One reason Tybalt died was because of Romeo and Juliet’s secrets. In 3.1, Romeo told him, “The reason that I have to love thee/ Doth much excuse the appertaining rage/ To such a greeting. Villain am I none./ Therefore, farewell. I see thou know’st me not” (3.1.33-36). When he said this, he was referencing his relation to Tybalt; because he married Juliet, he and Tybalt became cousins. However, he did not know what Romeo was implying. Tybalt
The emotion of love is an incredibly complex feeling, as displayed in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare.
Romeo and Juliet explores the tragic outcome of ‘true love’. In Romeo and Juliet, the two main characters (Romeo and Juliet) die because of their love for each other. What happens in Romeo and Juliet is that Juliet is meant to marry Paris but she doesn’t want to so she drinks a poison that is meant to show all of the signs of death for a certain amount of time and then she would
