The tragedy that happens in Romeo and Juliet is inevitable because of the many different themes of love, hate, character and destiny. These themes are essential to the play in order to be an interesting play. For example with love you have hatred, with love you would have character and with love you will also get destiny. All of the themes link to the main point love. Romeo and Juliet explores the tragic outcome of ‘true love’. In Romeo and Juliet, the two main characters (Romeo and Juliet) die because of their love for each other. A part of his character is shown when he hears the news that Juliet is dead and he leaves to go to Juliet straight away without thinking about it. “No matter. Get thee going and hire those horses. I’ll be with thee straight.” This quote shows that Romeo wants to be with Juliet no matter what and he will hurry to see her. “et me have a dram of poison, such soon-speeding gear.” This quote shows that Romeo is asking for poison to kill himself so he can be with Juliet. Romeo’s character is very impulsive. In Romeo and Juliet hate s a big component of the play. This hatred is used in the many fights that end up with someone being killed. “To strike him dead I hold not a sin.” In this quote Tybalt is wanting to kill Romeo because he is a Montague and Tybalt is a Capulet. This means that there is a lot of conflict. “ ’Tis he that villain Romeo.” Tybalt calls Romeo a villain because of the conflict between the two parties. There are a lot of very tragic scenes such as the duel with Tybalt, Juliet faking her death and the end. In the duel with Tybalt scene, Tybalt is fighting Mercurtio and once they start to fight Mercutio gets stabbed by Tybalt and he dies. “No, ’tis not so deep as a well, nor so wide as a church door; but ’tis enough, … Why the devil came you between us?
