I am deeply honored to have been considered as a candidate to join NHS, and I hope that in my essay, I’ll be able to exemplify how I represent the four pillars of NHS. In and outside school, I’ve done many activities that I’ve been the leader of, mostly involved with charing things for StuCo. I’ve chaired many things, but most likely some of the most important things I’ve chaired have been being one of the chairs for the winter energizer, and being a chair for the leadership recognition breakfast. In the winter energizer I was tasked with helping make a massive school wide scavenger hunt, which took a lot of time and effort to figure out clues and decide how everything would fit together. I also had to design a maze for people to navigate blindfolded and they had to have a partner direct them where to go. The last thing I did at the winter energizer was help manage one of the “olympic games”, which was just a simple mini game, but I had to explain the rules, make sure the people obeyed said rules, and afterwards I had to clean up the massive mess the game left, as there were M&Ms all over the floor. For the leadership recognition …show more content…
I’ve worked incredibly hard and spent massive amounts of time staying after school for things like StuCo and Theater. Most days I stay until about 5:30 for theater, but many times I’ll stay a half hour later or longer to help clean up after everybody else. Other days, especially for preparations for homecoming, after I finished theater at about 6, I would stay even longer for StuCo, some days until as late as eleven o’clock. For these actions I’ve earned things like outstanding StuCo member, and I’ve been chosen to be apart of off-stage, which is the technical side of on-stage. Being on off-stage I help with things like Mr.EHS, and the variety show, and almost everything else that’s done in the
A time I held a leadership position was this year for DECA. I was an involved member of DECA as a freshman, and I had been thinking of running for the vice president position as a sophomore. What really solidified my reservations was when the DECA teacher, Mrs. McGhee, asked me to run for an office. She told me that she noticed I was an invested member and that I would be a good asset to the board. I was so thankful she made this comment because that position in DECA was one of the things that really sparked my interest in leadership, and it helped me to learn more about how I lead. I was stressed at first because I was the first underclassman to ever be in a DECA officer position. When I showed up to the first officer meeting the next year,
NHS is an organization made up of students who regularly demonstrate the four pillars of NHS: Character, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. Saydel’s chapter of NHS should model outstanding service and leadership within our school and community. Doing so will create a positive environment amongst our community members and students. Utilizing my strong leadership abilities, I believe I can help our chapter of NHS flourish. My strength in organization, self-determination, and ability to engage others will make me a great asset to our NHS
I have had many accomplishments and times of leadership. Some leadership roles I have participated in are: being Deacons Quorum President, Senior Patrol Leader, Band, Cross Country, “Teacher’s PET” in 5th grade, and Basketball. Some achievements I’ve accomplished are: being #1 on the reading hall of fame in 5th grade, had 4 Band concerts, gone to Scout Camp and helped with eagle projects, been to 7 Cross Country meets, and been on 3 Basketball teams.
The four pillars of NHS are Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. My personal view of them has left me believing that having a decent grasp of the pillars makes for a well-developed individual. Scholarship relates to how someone performs in their education and how they pursue it. Having good leadership skills means you are to step up and lead by example. Someone who is an excellent leader is able to admit their short fallings and works to remedy them. Service relates to how someone gives back to their community. This can be done
I have headed many activities such as organizing story time, craft building and showing kids how to help others. I worked with younger children to bring fun and exciting ideas to the table to help guide them during church activities. I was also given the opportunity to help children with volleyball and I was able to lead a small group of girls to better their skills and build trust with each other. I love taking part in these activities and having an impact on these kids lives, as a leader I hope to prove myself as a good mentor for those who need help or just someone to look up
One of my very first instances of leadership was during a Boy Scout meeting about five years ago where I led our
I also show leadership in track with one of my relay groups by getting the baton, making sure that everyone has practiced their handoffs, and cheering them on during the race. I also show leadership by being in charge of the recreation center at my church’s vacation bible school and running the technology. I show the service level of National Honor Society by helping at my church’s fair stand, swiss steak supper, and doing various things around the church. I also show the service level because I helped at GLOW with one of my classmates, teaching 5th graders. I show the character level by helping other students around the school with personal problems or class problems that they need help with.
I am honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the National Honors Society. I wanted to be involved in NHS from the beginning of my high school career. I believe that I have great leadership qualities and the potential. I have always been an outspoken person when it comes to my beliefs and I think that a leader should always stand up for what they believe in and should do so in a respectable way.
In line with the majority of other developed countries, the United Kingdom (UK) has offered its citizens a universal health care system that is free at the point of service. Funded primarily by taxation, the system is popular and efficient. However, along with most other health care systems around the world, it faces a series of challenges if it is to maintain viability, in the twenty-first century. These issues include; long waiting times, an aging population, funding challenges and the increasing cost of technology.
Being a notable leader doesn’t just mean your name was the one spoken when help was needed, but you were there before the help was needed. In the case of arranging my school going to a competition I was the default leader. Muslim Interscholastic Tournament (MIST) is a nation wide tournament where thousands of Muslims in high school compete against each other. I was the elected Vice President of student council and took it upon myself to voice the student’s opinion. After much back and forth, the school allowed us to go on the condition of the school not arranging anything for the tournament. Being the one who took the initiative to convince the school, I started arranging the teachers, transportation, and funding for this tournament. Like any
I have never really focused on the issues that our economy is facing; therefore, I find reading articles like these rather interesting. They provide me with material and questions I would not have looked up before. My favorite quote from the article was, “Monetary policy has been keeping the patient alive, creating the possibility of a lasting cure through fiscal and structural operations,” as stated by BoE Chief. I thought this line to be very funny and blunt. The comparison of the nation to a patient really put into perspective the how tragic our economic system is doing. Also, I have come to belief that people are okay with the monetary policy because it has been providing some relief to our problems, but people must find an actually solution,
I have desirable characteristics that would be beneficial to the NHS. I am an enthusiastic, strong spirited, and a friendly person who also has strong work ethics and poise. I am someone who feels strongly about my opinion, but will always graciously accept criticism. I am a responsible and reliable person who portrays integrity, honesty, and respect for other people and for the rules. I am someone who greatly treasures school and everything it has to
In recent years, reflection and reflective practice have become well-known term with in the health care arena. They are words that have been debated and discussed with in the health care setting (Tony and Sue 2006). Reflective practice is essential for nurses, as nurses are responsible for providing care to the best of their ability to patients and their families (NMC, 2008). Reid (1993) states reflection is a process of reviewing an experience of practice in order to describe, analyse, evaluate and so inform learning about practice. Johns (1995) notes that reflection enables practitioners to assess, understand and learn through their experience. Reflective practice, therefore, offers nurses an opportunity to review their decisions and
The National Health System began in 1948 with the aim to provide free health care for the English thus removing health access inequities. This essay considers two strengths of the NHS, being free health and locally responsive health care and two weaknesses being the financial burden and unprecedented pressure on health care resources.
This essay is based on the Case study of a patient named as Mrs Ford. It will be written as a logical account, adopting a problem solving approach to her care. She is elderly and has been admitted onto a medical ward in the hospital, following a stroke. This essay analyses the care that she will receive and focuses on the use of assessment tools in practice. Interventions will be put in place directly relating to the assessment feedback and in line with best practice.
