National Honors Society, or NHS, is one of the groups in my school that contributes in different ways in the school community and outside the school. NHS organizes college fairs, blood drives, book drives, volunteering activities, and community services in and outside of school. NHS gave me the opportunity to be a better leader and enhance my skills as a leader when I was assigned as the president of organization. Being the president of NHS is a huge responsibility and there is a lot of pressure. I have to communicate with our moderators every week. I have to look and search for volunteering opportunities that our group could do. But all these things are just small things that I don't really mind doing because it's a great opportunity for me to explore and be able to learn how to be a leader. …show more content…
When I was a freshmen, I used to be this shy person who was afraid to take risks both inside and out of the classroom. I barely talked to any other students except for the people in my classes. I didn’t talk unless needed to. Throughout the years, I tried joining different school clubs and groups to meet more people and get rid of my anxiety, but it was hard for me to talk to people for I become anxious all the time. When I talk to people that I don’t really know, I get intimidated and I stutter a lot. Even as a member of a group called Student Leader, where I always talk to parents when there are school events and where I always have to work with school staff, I still get anxious. However, that all changed when I became the president of NHS. I was given a responsibility, and I know I have to do my best to lead this
First, I believe that my involvement with the National Junior Honor Society will help me to prepare my future as a leader. John Maxwell once said that “ a leader is one who knows the way,
Over the past two years (2014-2016) I have participated in the National Junior Honors Society. As a member, I commit to completing community service and to learning among my peers in order to develop into a superior leader. I have taken part in activities such as fundraisers, team building activities, and several forms of community services such as working in a soup kitchen, daycares and organizing social events. Recently, I volunteered for a week as a vendor at a temple in Tacoma, raising money for the establishment during the Cambodian New Year festival.
“Leadership is not a position or title, it is an action and example.” {-Unknown} I would like to be a member of National Honor Society because it offers the opportunity to meet new people, gain new and unique leadership skills, work together with others, participate in school groups, and help the community. I can contribute my dedication, time, and persistent work ethic to this organization.
The National Honor Society is a group whose members are known for their academic accomplishments, leadership, and integrity. This group is greatly prestigious and I am honored to be invited to apply. This group also contributes a great deal towards the community, which is something that I am interested in doing more of. Until now, I have not gone out of my way to do much service and being in this group, I would have a higher motivation to do so. I would like to experience more giving to the community because whenever I have helped others, I felt satisfactory and valuable afterward. This society would be an excellent opportunity to be a bigger part of the community.
Every successful leader is built upon the strongest foundations. A foundation that is a conglomerate of scholarship, leadership, service, and character ensures the optimal potential of an individual. The importance of these pillars is most apparent in National Honor Society. The scholarship of an individual sets them above the herd; however, their character, the force that drives them to achieve the impossible, is the mold that shapes the leader they’ll become. Furthermore, service opportunities not only open member's’ eyes to the compassion needed in leaders but also the skills in management, cooperation, and perseverance demanded from them in the community.
Throughout every aspect of my learning, I always strive to further my own skills by fully immersing myself into the specific scenario, so joining the National English Honor Society will allow my skills and passion towards English to flourish. In my efforts to benefit my own studies and desires, I innately establish leadership roles in the activities I devote my time to the extent I can, such as Student Council. If given the opportunity to become a member of the National English Honor Society, I will gladly attempt to contribute to the organization’s projects because I naturally invest myself entirely in the things that I do. Being a part of the organization would foster more opportunities in my future where I could continue the passion I have
I feel honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the National Honor Society. There are several reasons, such as having a strong character, earning a scholarship to a dream school, demonstrating my leadership skills on and off of the club, and the service I’m prepared to sacrifice to the National Honors Society. However, after reviewing all of the reasons, the pillar in which I excel is leadership. I believe it is the most suitable quality for the NHS. I've played a variety of sports in my life ranging from basketball, football, track, and baseball, and they’ve influenced me not only as a player and my performance, but have also aided me in various aspects of my life that have fulfilled my qualities as an individual.
The National Honor Society has been one of the most influential organizations that I have been apart of. My first year as a member, I was intimidated by the projects and sheer amount of work being produced through this group, but as the year evolved I evolved with it. I realized that I could do so much with the National Honor Society and ran for Vice President, one of my best friends being the President. By being apart of the National Honor Society, I have been able to fine tune my leadership skills within two different settings, a full council and a committee meeting. By learning how to engage the participants and delegate tasks to either the strength of the members or skills that they want to develop, we are able to make incredible ideas
National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society alike have provided the best opportunities for personal growth for a few reasons. As members, we sacrifice our time for the betterment of others. It is rewarding to help those in need without seeking credit. National Honor Society allowed me to reach out to those very close and dear to me in the community, while National Technical Honor Society helped me reach out to communities outside of Dansville, that I would have never had the opportunity to help otherwise. Both chapters were very influential in developing maturity, accountability, and selflessness. Additionally, being the Treasurer of National Honor Society has given me the opportunity to take on a leadership role. Stepping
NHS would be an honor to join and participate for many reasons. For example, joining the National Honors Society means being something. It gives me the opportunity to help or even change lives of actual human beings and making a difference in this challenging world. I strongly believe that anyone of any age can do something if they put full efforts both physically and mentally into the task. This organization can put these ideas from teenagers to use and help our community in need. Another reason everyone should want to join National Honors Society is the chance to increase one’s leadership skills. No matter how many leadership opportunities are present, there can always be room for more including NHS. Personally, I need to practice being
I am truly honored to be one of the candidates for National Honors Society this year. I’ve seen what a difference this society makes in our school, and I believe that my leadership skills would make a valuable contribution to this organization. This last year I was made the president of our school's Thespian Society and have been a strong leader for our troupe. It is my job to make sure meetings run smoothly and oversee that the agenda is getting done efficiently and effectively. In addition to theater, last year I was the witch in our marching band’s show, “Emerald City.” Basically, my role was to direct the band for part of the show and help lead the members to their proper positions and placements. Making sure all of the props for the show were placed and stored correctly was a priority as well. This was a lot to take on as a sophomore and required extra time outside of practice to make sure that it got done.
National Junior Honor Society will be a great opportunity for me. If I am accepted into NJHS I plan on keeping up my 4.0 average, balancing between school and outside of school activities, continuing to help my community/peers, and creating a specific idea to make a positive impact at the school. The next 3 paragraphs I will be stating why I will be a great member of NJHS, why it's good to help people, and something I could do to positively impact my school.
I was inducted into my schools NHS during my sophomore year. I am a member of the
In addition to scholarship, National Honor Society emphasizes community service. I have a passion for service and have been involved in service projects through my church, Dance Team, FFA and 4H. As I reflect on all of the community service events I have assisted in, I have realized that each time I have helped others, I have grown as a person. I have learned to be appreciative of all of the opportunities that my situation has provided for me. Leadership is yet another quality that National Honor Society builds. I have worked on developing my leadership skills through my participation in 4H, church youth group, FFA, and dance. I would like to gain more leadership experience by helping to organize the activities that National Honor Society has throughout the year. A positive character is recognized and developed by National Honor Society. I strive to always maintain a good character. I work hard and try to be a positive role model as a student, employee, volunteer, and friend. Character is important to me because of the leadership position I am put
Being accepted into the National honors society is not only and honor, but most importantly a privilege. This means that I have achieved many academic goals, such as my 3.86 GPA, and success in many of my other clubs as well. I have taken multiple honors classes throughout high school and excelled in them. They have taught me a strong positive work ethic and gave me the criticism that I need to better myself. Also, I have been given the responsibility as Captain of my golf team. My job is to instill confidence and inspiration to my teammates ensuring them that they can accomplish the highest of goals on the golf course. Not to mention that is only one of my leadership rolls at Middletown High School South.
